I got this with rewards points. I've used sandisk clip for years and wanted to continue but apparently the Sandisk company didn't. This sport clip + is supposed to be better for the additional GB space but you can't transfer playlists retained in their original setup. Once transferred songs are separated and alphabatised. Not so on my 4 GB clip I've used all these years. There's a 'go list' option where you manually recreate the list on the device. And even with that only so many songs are allowed. This player is a joke. Whomever is making these decisions, give my best to your parents or whatever family member, obviously, gave you the gig. Steer clear if you use for working out. For those of us who really love working out with music or other mp3 treats (I personally listen to Old Time Radio shows such as Gunsmoke, Escape, Inner Sanctum, Radio Mystery Theater, etc.), the SanDisk Clips are the best bar none! I just bought this new Clip Sport after buying 2 regular Clips almost 2 years ago. They are lightweight, very easy to use, have tremendous capacity (especially if you add a micro SDHC card; I have an Ultra 32 GB and an Ultra 16 GB), and sound great. One of my older Clips malfunctioned recently and had to be tossed, so I recommend that you get the Square Warranty for about $5.00. Other mp3 players don't come close to the versatility, light weight and overall quality of this player. I really don't understand the criticisms against this player --the Sonys and others are cute but far more expensive and not as lightweight or otherwise as versatile as the Clip Sport. Athletes and others who like to work out should really love this product as I have for almost 2 years now. ... show more

bought this in march 2015. it's pretty lame. when the buttons are locked, the power button can still be pressed off (kinda useless for doing chest stands at the gym). i checked with the tech support, and that is how it's supposed to work. otherwise, it was decent enough until a few months ago when it stopped playing the songs in alphabetical order. i clear my files of tags cos that stuff gets messy, so the songs always end up playing according to file name -- artist, year, album, track number, track title -- but now it seems to order them according to last modified (so when i add to a folder of files i chose, they're not in chron/alpha order). the directories/folders (by artist) are out of order this way, too. it didn't used to be this way, but just started the last few months. am looking at getting an agp tek player now, recommended by amazon. i don't want another sandisk cos you can't chat with sandisk about their mp3 players anymore -- they're 'legacy' items (even if they're not discontinued) so they'll only take an email. totally lame. oh and it asks the time and date when you set it up but there is no option to actually display that info. this is a lazy and halfway nonsensical piece of equipment. ... show more

I have had this mp3 about a year. In the last few months, it started acting up and often won't show files that I know are there and are present when I take out the SD card and plug it into my computer. It is nice and small, which is great. However, the system it uses to read file names is a bit cumbersome as I have had to go through and manually rename a lot of files so it will read them in the order I want, or be able to see the whole title. Update: As kindly suggested by another reviewer I updated the firmware and now the audio books play the chapters in order. I'm afraid to try the locking function using the fast backward key in case I go backwards by mistake. I bought this to replace an older model that died, and let's just say it's not an upgrade. First of all there is no power/lock button on top any more, so I keep mistakenly skipping audiobook tracks. But the biggest problem is that this model doesn't sort audiobooks by name. I'm using it exactly like my old Clip Zip, but now the audiobook playlist isn't in order on this model. It might start with track 1, then go to track 8, 5, 12, whatever. This is extremely annoying because by the time I realize this has happened I've heard a spoiler. Other than that, I do like the less-slippery feel, and the sound seems to be better. But nothing compensates for having to scroll for every track. The whole point of buying this was to easily listen to books. ... show more

Very portable, GREAT sound, volume is awesome from low to high. Easy to transfer items. I use for Book on Tape and keeps your place. Only when you transfer new books into your audio files folder that you should make note of which "part" of a book you are on. It seems to not go exactly to the right spot. I am OK with this since I only listen to one book from start to finish. It could be I don't know how to get back to where I left off too. The only thing I don't like is the pause button is small for my hands and sometimes I touch the wrong control. A bit annoying. ... show more

Upon closer inspection, I see the listing does note it will not play drm wma format. I did not look too closely as this is a replacement for the previous version of the clip. Not sure why they dropped that format. It is sad they did. I mostly use my mp3 player to listen to library books. Now I won't have access to about half the books offered. Other than the dropped format, I prefer this version of the clip. It is slightly larger and easier to see. I could never find my last one and it is currently lost. Hope I bump into the old one so I can down load free books. I think the slightly larger size will stand up better while gardening. The other one was too small to handle and see when working. If you want to listen to library books, this is not the clip for you. If you don't use wma protected formats, then I would go with this version of the clip. ***Update Product broke within a week. Manufacturer told me to contact retailer for replacement. Hard to deal with and did not seem to care product is junk. ... show more

Can no longer get FM radio but I am astonished that it is still kicking after an extended romp in the washing machine . It's a no fuss litttle player. Battery life is good. I've used it just about every day for five years on my dog walks. It's a fine little gizmo.
