    • A sound bar that is done right
Since Samsung debuted HW-K950 (5.1.4) .. I have been trying every Samsung high end soundbar introduced to the market. The first soundbar HW-K950 (5.1.4) was done with perfection. It just had some issues like subwoofer blending and over powering the soundbar sound. Subwoofer had 6inch driver. Won't go deep either. Later models which are 7.1.4 are miss and hit and found them to be not so great. They were great with Atmos but when regular 5.1 DD rear surrounds do nothing. This was a big drawback. Majority of streaming services movies and shows use 5.1 DD. Finally again Samsung made the great soundbar. Q950T decodes 5.1 sourround and Atmos correctly. It performed correctly with test tones 5.1.4 , 9.1.6. When I tested , the sound was coming from exact speaker where it is supposed to. Over all immersion is really awesome. This soundbar sounds way better than my existing setup when it comes to channel to channel sound sweeps and swirls. Retiring my current setup of Denon4400h and Pioneer elite Atmos speakers (5.1.4) , SVS PB12-NSD setup. Very happy how this sounbar how it sounds and performs. ... show more

I spent 2 months researching and decoding to go with the q950-t. It was so worth it. The atmos is amazing. The Bluetooth connection was instant. It happened so fast, I thought I had more steps to do. The app control is so easy. The bass is smooth and clear. The focus is clearly on sound quality and not overpowered bass. Im glad I did the research and found these instead of just buying a cheaper one. My kids love them. The PS5 games even have atmos. Call of duty sounds like a real war zone in my living room. Wife isn't too happy about that, but the kids can't stop smiling. We work it out so the hardcore gaming goes on when she's at work, lol. The Alexa is more sensitive than the echo dots which is great. When I ask to turn the lights on and off, it hears me from across the house. ... show more

    • Exceptional sound quality but failed to nail some of the features.
For those who are unaware, Samsung acquired Harman a few years ago which makes them a powerhouse in the home audio department. It really shows in the quality of sound produced by these speakers. There's a lot of depth and texture in the well-imaged sounds these speakers produce. Connectivity options are fantastic, I love the tap feature to stream audio from my phone and my Samsung TV plays really nice by taking over its own sound output once I start controlling the soundbar with my phone. Provides plenty of connectivity options. Actual Bluetooth and Wifi connectivity as opposed to Sonos's Apple-only option frankly blow the Sonos option out of the water. I like having control of my device with just the Bluetooth interface because I can play what I want from any source. Not a huge fan of Samsung "universal" remotes not being universal and having near-identical faces. This requires me to keep track of two remotes that look the same and in the dark, it's somewhat frustrating. I would much rather spend another $30 or something and get an actually universal remote that covers the functionality of the TV and soundbar simultaneously, but I don't believe that is an option. The Samsung smart-things app is a wonderful alternative that has been rapidly improving since the first time I used it, but the TV still asks for permission to use it and some apps like Hulu do not play nice with the remote inputs. (On Hulu, the user select screen does not function with the select from the Smart Things app, I have to go get my remote to use Hulu.) Hopefully, these problems will be solved in the near future and I can switch to using my phone exclusively to manage my Samsung devices at home. Setup is seamless, follow the instructions and set up your satellites before the main soundbar and then actually test the soundbar with quality audio input, the Spotify app can even provide this for you. I see too many people posting about low-quality bass or nonexistent bass and I'm nearly certain it's because they are not providing input that can actually make the subwoofer do work. Note that no mounting hardware is provided for the speakers. This is somewhat smart on Samsung's part because these are heavy speakers (17lb) and proper mounting into drywall prefers toggle bolts, making them not responsible for people messing up their walls and their speakers trying to mount them incorrectly. Alexa integration is an appealing feature that I really wanted to like but currently, its volume settings are so broken I cannot turn it back on. Alexa's volume is tied to the volume of the soundbar, they are not separate things. Whoever is responsible for this obnoxious interface should be fired as a UX developer because the oversight is so massive I cannot imagine any reasonable person okaying this. The very obvious consequence is, if you listen to music at volume, Alexa will then yell at you with all the power the soundbar can manage if she is accidentally or intentionally triggered. The standard "Alexa, turn down YOUR volume" will turn down the soundbar's volume as a whole. A firmware update should be able to decouple these two quantities in the future so I can only hope that someone takes note of this massive oversight and corrects it. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and I've very much been enjoying listening to music, watching movies, and playing games with the soundbar. I hope that some of these QoL problems go away soon and that Alexa becomes usable, but I would still suggest the soundbar even without these corrections. ... show more

I am very happy with my setup. I feel like everyone should be able to watch tv, play games or listen to music this way, because it is just awesome. My favorite thing about it is the bass. Very low and deep but sounds smooth and perfect. I found it super easy to assemble. I did not have any trouble connecting it to WiFi or blutooth. Follow the instructions, and sit back and enjoy. Great sound and value, considering you get a sound bar, 2 satellite speakers, and an 8” sub. Soundstage is impressive once you do all the careful listening and tweaking. The only big area of improvement, as others have mentioned, would be to put the display facing forward, rather than on top of the soundbar, which requires you to stand in front of it, looking down, while scrolling through the menu and making adjustments. The seller went above and beyond to make things right after FedEx failed to make the original delivery, despite several calls made to FedEx customer support (a replacement was sent, with genuine empathy, and shipping was expedited at no additional cost). Abbey at Video & Audio Center in CA handled the whole situation like a pro, and truly cares about her customers. Highly recommend this vendor. Thank you Abbey!! ... show more
