Q70T review
As a person with a normal job that doesn't professionally write reviews, I felt compelled to write one about this soundbar. First and foremost, it's frustrating that this Amazon product page conflates the reviews of the Q60, the Q70 and the Q800 (not 80? seriously, what's with Samsung's marketing division?). So all the ratings are all clumped together. A bunch of reviews complain about bass not being strong enough and that had me somewhat concerned initially, for example. As it turns out, I own a home with a decent if not huge living room (bigger than my previous apartments, however) and I get adequate bass from the Q70t and sub-woofer (for non experts, placement of the sub-woofer matters - ideally in a corner so the bass can reverberate off the walls - one potential issue), but the Q60 might not have sufficient bass. Can't comment on the Q800 obviously. So on with the review with the caveat of the product commingling out of the way. I'm very satisfied with this soundbar for this pricepoint. The sound is really crisp and clear. I considered the quality to be much better than I was expecting. Atmos programs enjoy decent surround simulation in my opinion. I don't think anything really can truly replace physically displaced speakers in 5.1+ but this soundbar does an adequate job in lieu of spatially located separate speakers. I do occasionally look behind me for a noise and then remember this soundbar has surround capabilities. If you really get into having a home theater, nothing's going to beat a true surround system, but for the price and lack of cables this is a really appealing option. For perspective, I had a $100 soundbar and the difference in quality is both stark and drastic. Important things to note if you want to get the most of these soundbars, make sure not to place it on top of a surface, unobstructed to the ceiling. Placing in on the middle shelf of a media cabinet will be extremely counterproductive to the surround emulation. Also, perform a firmware update. Before doing so, I had to turn off the soundbar any time I either switched audio modes (not apps) so if I was watching a netflix show with Atmos encoding and then went to a different show within Netflix that didn't, I'd have to restart the soundbar for it to play again. All sorts of quirky behavior was solved via that update, it's truly essential. In short, if you're looking for a reasonably priced, good-quality soundbar, I'm personally quite happy with mine and recommend it for others!

Good mid-range soundbar.
I bought this soundbar as a bundle, including the wireless rear speaker kit which bumps the system from 3.1.2 to 5.1.2. I bought both on sale for $495 which may influence my satisfaction with the system. I found the system very straight-forward. Plug it in and let it do its job. It automatically switches inputs as needed. I find that I don't really need to reach for the soundbar remote. The wireless subwoofer and wireless rear speaker kit both automatically synced without needed to follow the sections in the manuals about syncing them with the soundbar. I was a bit confused as the rear speaker kit came with a wireless transmitter to plug into the soundbar only to find that it wasn't needed and was only for older soundbars. There was no setting to do any sort of speaker test or automatic calibration but when I finally found an old DVD with the THX Optimizer, I found all of the speaker levels were absolutely perfect and didn't need to be adjusted. The sound in general was very good. The left and right speakers are two-way, the rest are full-range. There is a nice scrolling display that you can see through the grate on the soundbar. It shows the inputs, adjustment levels, and it will display when the stream is Dolby Atmos or DTS:X, but no other format. I wish there was a way to hit a button and see what format the audio was at any given time, but it only shows the two formats automatically when they first start playing and shows nothing for the rest. I had read mixed reviews on the subwoofer, as this is basically the HW-Q60R or HW-Q800T with a 6.5" subwoofer instead of 8". When I went to play some content to test the system, the first thing I noticed was the bass kicking in. You can adjust it up for down 6 notches each way, so I'm not sure what the people complaining were expecting. I found it more than adequate, but I'm in an apartment and am not the type that just wants an obscene amount of overpowering earth-shaking bass. There is one HDMI input, one HDMI output, and one digital optical cable input. A second HDMI input would have been perfect, but most systems that include one are twice the price of this system. You can also connect external devices via Bluetooth. There are not a lot of power user settings. You can adjust the speaker levels, the A/V sync and EQ settings. There is also a button to toggle between different sound settings: Standard which is the sound as is, Surround which upconverts the sound to use all of the speakers, Game Pro which is optimized for gaming, and Adaptive which is what I will most likely leave it on that adapts to the sound source to provide the best sound. I wish the last two were more descriptive in what they actually did because the descriptions are quite vague. From what I gathered about Adaptive, it makes the sound utilize all speakers and adapts on the fly to make sure the dialog is always clear. There is no Night Mode if that is important to you, but Adaptive mode may also reduce differences between loud and quiet scenes from what I gather. All in all, I'm more than happy with my purchase. UPDATE: I was about to change my review because the soundbar appeared to not be up-mixing stereo sound to the surround speakers no matter what mode I had it on despite saying it did in the manual. I eventually found out that it was my TCL Roku TV and that I had to change the setting from Dolby Digital Plus/DTS to Auto-Pass-through. The TV was converting the audio in a way that made the soundbar not up-mix it. I'm assuming it was sending the stereo signal as a 5.1 signal with only the L and R channels having audio and the rest being silent. If you have issues with the rear speakers not playing sound at all when playing standard mode, test different TV audio output settings before thinking something is wrong with the soundbar.

A nice upgrade, way better bass and overall sound than I expected
This soundbar was a replacement for my HW-R650 which I ended up giving to my parents and I have it hooked up to my 2019 Q60R TV set. Does a well enough job with everything including processing Atmos (opening race scene from Ready Player One in 4K will blow you away). Now don't go thinking this is gonna be a full theater experience but does a damn close & decent job. One hint for my fellow Xbox One X users if you're connecting through the bar to tv make sure you turn off Freesync as I noticed issues when trying to play Gears 5. You still get full 4K, HDR even game enhancer but again no Freesync. Other than that everything else is flawless with the soundbar. Considering getting the rear speaker kit upgrade to complete the experience. Only had for a few days but so far so good. Will update if anything changes.

Weak sound and bass. I do not recommed this product.
I had high hopes for this sound bar. I did a fair amount of research to try to find the best sound bar & sub woofer I could for under $500, and decided on this Samsung HW-Q60T. I wanted to get rid of my 6+ year old cheap Visio 2.1 soundbar because it lacks a center channel so dialog in most movies is very hard to hear. After installing the Samsung HW-Q60T I immediately missed my old Visio soundbar. Even after maxing out the sub woofer volume and Bass settings I could barely get much bass out of the system. And, over all sound output was MUCH worse than my old Visio. The Viso would fill the whole house with booming sounds, which I would often do in order to hear the dialog. In one word I would describe the Samsung HW-Q60T as WEAK. I am really surprised that the Samsung HW-Q60T is so bad. I will be returning the Samsung HW-Q60T and looking for something else.
