  • Best Bang For The Buck Tablet
Color: Graphite Size: 128 GB Style: Tablet Pattern Name: Tablet Only
Surprisingly snappy and nice given the price point. Usually, lower-end tablets tend to be laggy, have poor resolution screens, and/or low/slow storage, but this actually feels more premium than you'd expect. I don't plan on playing games on it, but it does play the few I've tried smoothly. The screen, while not IPS, is still quite nice. Plenty bright and doesn't look washed out as most lower-priced screens tend to be. And the 1920x1200 resolution is nice too. Text looks crisp and clear. Many lower-end tablets cheap out on the resolution and I think 1080 is the absolute lowest acceptable resolution on a screen this size, so 1200 is pretty good. I chose the version with 8GB RAM because I didn't want it to make up for lack of memory by using storage (many cheap tablets do this), which is slower than RAM and wears out the flash storage faster. But my daughter has the version with 4GB of RAM and it seems to work pretty good too. She hasn't really stressed it so I would suspect it would not do as well with memory-intensive apps, or frequently switching between many apps. The additional SDCard storage capability is good if you want to put a bunch of music and videos/movies for a trip. It will NOT use the SDCard to augment/add to internal storage though - meaning, you can't set it to install most apps to it. You CAN set the cameras to store to the SDcard though, so that'll help save internal storage space if you plan to take a lot of pics/vids. I put in a 256GB card pre-formatted as exFat and it read it fine. You can either have the tablet format a fresh card, or do it on a PC beforehand. My main purpose for this is a bedside e-book reader, and the battery management feature on this is a HUGE plus. Since it is plugged in pretty much all the time, the battery would sit at 100% constantly. Well, that's not healthy for a battery. But this tablet has an intelligent battery management that will automatically set the max charge percentage for you if it sees it being plugged in all the time, or allows you to manually set the max charge percentage. Mine is set to 80%, which is good for battery longevity. It also lets you disable fast-charging, which tends to stress the battery, so it's best to disable it if you don't really need it. My Samsung phone (s24) has these features too, but a phone sees much more off-charger use, so it's not as useful in my opinion. Another minor feature I find handy is the ability to double-tap the screen to turn it on. This saves wear and tear on the physical button. Most newer devices have this feature, so probably a minor thing, but my old tablet didn't have it and it's a nice feature to have. I honestly think the A9+ is the sweet spot between price, performance, and features. The price is attractive and you really aren't sacrificing or compromising on much. Sure, it maybe can't compete against a high-end tablet, but at less than half the price, that's fine with me. And if you *need* a high-end tablet, you might as well spend a few extra dollars for a full laptop. ... show more

  • I got one of the good ones.
Color: Graphite Size: 128 GB Style: Tablet Pattern Name: Tablet Only
I have read mixed reviews on these tablets. But it looks like this is one of the good ones. I bought this one, as it has the expanded 8gb of RAM (4gb is just NOT enough). And the expanded 128 GB of memory. The expanded memory is sufficient for me, as I have a 512 gig memory card in it, and an app that lets me install other apps to the SD card. (Downloaded for free off the play store) (I very much recommend doing that if you're a gamer. The cache sizes in some of these mobile games get HUGE. I have a 318 meg game with a 23 GIGABYTE cache. And I don't always remember to clear that out.) Cons first- 1) HEAVY. This is one chunky monkey of a tablet! Cased, and with a keyboard, this is easily as heavy as some slim notebooks. If the weight is a concern, you're better off with the functionality of a slim laptop. Cameras- If you are looking for the cameras that Samsung is known for, they aren't here. These cameras are lackluster and mid grade, at best. The microphone I would rate just slightly higher. The hard buttons- Literally everybody has the power button below the rocker volume now days. For whatever reason, Samsung opted to switch that around, putting it OVER the volume rocker. This is counter intuitive to muscle memory from our phones. And it's actually kind of hard to adapt to by feel. Not compatible with S pen. Doesn't come loaded with the software. Not sure if the screen is pressure sensitive or not, I don't think so. Pros- The screen is good. It's bright, clear, and works very well. If you're just looking for a daily tablet, the screen is great. If you're a screen snob, this is not for you. Apps- The only app that I have used that gives this device ANY problems, is using the Opera browser to watch YouTube. I'm not sure if it's because of the advert blocker in Opera, but watching videos on that browser causes stuttering and/or lag to the video. The higher resolution the video, the worse it gets. Mostly a browser issue, not a hardware issue. But throwing it in there. EDIT: DEFINITELY A BROWSER ISSUE. The VPN service for Opera was not caching videos properly, causing the issue. Turning the VPN service off fixed the problem and videos are running wonderfully now. I work with a LOT of GIF images. In a gallery app this puts a Lot of strain on phones and tablets. This guy handles them just fine with no excessive problems. Speaking of a lot of gifs. Battery. Constant motion on the screen works the video processor a lot. Which works the battery a lot. The screen constantly making images move also works the battery a lot. I will say, the battery impresses me. I get 6-7 hours out of a 100% charge. That's with as many apps stripped out of it as possible, and doing all the motion work, editing, and video watching that I do. My previous 10" tablet was lucky to get 3 hours. The UI- I am really liking what Samsung has done with their UI on this device. Multiple windows at a time combined with a taskmovable task bar is an absolute game changer, that more devices need to incorporate. Starts to lessen that gap between tablets and laptops for doing tasks, work, and doing things while gaming or watching vids. Speakers. The speakers are ok. Standard level, IMO. Decent range and volume. Better than in some tablets and phones. They perform well, but I'm a sound snob. Also doesn't include any software for sound improvement, so there's also that. Which I recommend downloading an app with a 10 band equalizer to help these speakers out. For better sound, use ear buds or a Bluetooth speaker. Boots fairly quick. Faster than my phone. Comes loaded with Samsung Notes. Which is arguably one of the best mobile apps for notes. All said, it's a better tablet than some reviewers list it as. It's a good machine, and I'm happy with the purchase. ... show more

  • Does not work with pen
Color: Graphite Size: 64 GB Style: Tablet Pattern Name: Tablet Only
This tablet is a good price for what it can do. I will soon be giving this to my 4 year old to have an purchasing myself a better one. I wanted this to be able to take notes on and such using some sort of pen. I knew that the tablet did not come with a pen. However, I saw reviews that stated you could purchase an additional pen to use. You can BUT you have to hold the pen a certain way or it will not write. It does not always catch the whole letter. This tablet also does not turn your writing into a typed document from what I can find. I am not the most tech savy so someone else may be able to figure that out. However, it is definitely a nice little tablet. Easy to fit into my purse or book bag. The batter lasts a good amount of time! I do not use the tablet every day but I have only charged it 2x and i have had it for 2-3 weeks now. I did purchase an additional screen protector and a case. Tablet is a little heavy from what I expected but it is fast and runs really well! I have not had any problems with any apps or anything on it. ... show more
