The SaltDogg TGSUV1B 4. 4 Cubic Foot Tailgate Spreader is a simple and effective tool for residential spreading of 1 free flowing rock salt. With its compact size, hitch mount design, and auxiliary power plug adapter, the TGSUV1B makes it easy to spread with an SUV or a 1/2, 3/4, or 1 ton truck. It features a corrosion-resistant 4. 4 cubic foot poly hopper. The hitch mount is compatible with 1-1/4 in. or 2 in. Class 3 or 4 receivers, and can fold away for easy tailgate access. The gravity-fed spreader has a manual open/close gate and a 9 in. poly spinner that can cast up to 14 ft. Its 1/8 HP, 12V motor is powered via an auxiliary plug connection with a manual on/off switch. From the Manufacturer Ideal for the home owner/residential user. It is what it is and it works okay but don't use the sand salt mixture because that clogs it up. And you have to continuously use a stick in shape and knock the stuff loose. I bought a type of ice melt that I didn't realize had some sand in it but this machine says that you should mix sand with the salt I say no way, unless you like to stop every hundred feet and shake the container and poke at it with the stick inside. ... show more

Amazing product for the price. Works okay. You just have to make sure the salt or rock salt you put it in is completely dry otherwise it will clog up in the bottom and not feed properly. I used it all winter for commercial use with about 300 plus bags of salt through. It only clogged up twice because a couple bags got moisture in them. Also the wiring could be a little heavier duty but for the price I cannot complain too much. ... show more

Upon buying this useless salt spreader for 800 bucks, was excited. If you want to drop 5 bags for 1 driveway and oules of salt. Barely opened up the shoot. Just dumps the entire fill on the smallest opening. Spend the money on one you can control from a panel and not a cig lighter plug in. And if you plan to return it like I did. They send a return label. You pay the 212.00 to ship it back and lose out 35% of what you paid for it and did not use. And they come back with, well it's not fair to pay to ship it to you and then to ship it back. Well, don't sell junk and you don't need to worry about it. Told him. It's at UPS. Ok I will send a label prepaid. Sent one for fed ex. Not anywhere around my living area. Have to go two states over. Contractors here don't do residential pick up or drop off. What a joke. Just prepare yourself if you buy one. Best part, hat that comes with it. Nice. Sent it back though as well. And they soak you 350 restocking fee. Which is not advised anywhere. Do not buy from them. Big mistake. I would have done a video. But it lasted 40 seconds on truck and back in the box ... show more

the opening where the salt comes out is to small, if you fill the hopper and don't use it right away the salt hardens or clumps and does not fall through on to the spreader wheel, you have to take a stick and shove it into the Hopper and through the salt to get to the bottom to get salt flowing, I works but I expected better, do not fill the hopper with salt unless you intend to use all of it, I have been putting in only what I need and that is pretty hard to judge sometimes so you find yourself putting bags of salt in the back of the truck instead of filling the hopper up which in my mind the unit should work ... show more

Good quality,nice design, but you have to use good bagged salt other wise you get a clog and you have to get out and bust up the jam. Even with some course bagged salt it clogs but the motor is great and the wire is nice and thick
