This thing is actually awsome. Been using the Thick square one all my life and there was only a few times I really need the Shape of the pencil to help with the job I'm doing. But I really hated sharpening those , it was ok obviously I put up with it for about 30+ years , but this whole unit is a kind of a game changer. I for sure use the pencil , religiously now and even has a sharpener and its so much more accurate ! The scribe , is amazing also used it a bit last couple months . If you've ever done a remodel on an older home , you know it isn't always a good time cuz its not perfect at all , no house is but you know. This is the tool to a DYI or Pro for sure. Pencil brakes , got more just click . It is kind of trick si you won't brake the lead, but you'll figure it out in no time !! Great concept , but my first task for it and it wouldn’t do what I needed. It goes roughly 1”-3” and then flip the middle portion and it goes Roughly 6-8”. I love funny business but I needed 4.5” and after a few minutes of fumbling with it I just went back to a combo square. The screw in compass pointer is loose in its corresponding hole, and if you try and use the tracer and lock the pencil in the lead wears and it won’t mark but when you loosen the pencil so the pencils is loose Pushing the lead to the paper the pencil is loose in the hole and wiggles a line out. Also the pointer is aluminum so if you use this on stone it will wear out quickly. I’m sorry but I tried it and it’s not all it’s advertised as, At least not when your trying to make Accurate likes. ... show more

    • Just what I needed.
This thing is worth its weight just for the awesome deep reach pencil that’s included. I’ve used this for scribing cabinets and a trim board along a stone wall. So many uses for one tool. Love it.

    • This scribing tool I have not used , so I cannot give it an accurate rating.
It seems as if this tool will work fine for what I have purchased it to do. However, I have not used it at this time , when I do I will give it my proper rating. I find that this tool is a bit pricey. But as soon as I get a chance to use it I will upgrade my rating of it accurately

I like the design however the milling was never cleaned up. The pin was difficult to removed and once removed you can see bad mill work or there was a burr inside the pin holding pocket. Additional the threads for the locking screw were not clean making it difficult the tighten or loosen it.
