  • Quality, craftsmanship, and small investment
Works great so far while testing a soft plywood and the Douglas Fir 2x4 I had lying around. Very simple to guide and move along both surfaces. I’m between projects at the moments so I haven’t had the chance to use it to its full function within the process of woodworking. What I can say is that it was sharp enough for sure to get the markings. The overall tool is light weight and easy to use. I like that there are spare blades that come well packaged in their own individual container. The rod, brass, and blade come in their own wrapper as well. I think some kind of mini case will go well with this type of device so now I can probably cut my own up using this little guy. As someone who has really spent a good amount on tools this year as the woodworking has ramped up, my thought process with this purchase was to invest in tested and respected products. Based on reviews and YouTube University this is one of those pay for the good stuff so you’re not regretting it in a month and paying more out later. ... show more

  • It makes me want to believe I.
After years of cutting up sheets of XPS foam with a snap blade knife and a carpenter square and never the whisper of a 90°edge on any cut I've ever done... This is my first marking guage and right away I immediately started noticing more way more accurate cuts. I'm sure the new tabletop hot wire cutter it arrived with played a pretty big part, but overall my accuracy and precision are night and day. Quality is great! Price felt fair, even in December 2025 dollars! ... show more

  • Worth it?
Idk if it's worth the $25 I spent, but I can say it is a quality product. Sturdy, heavy, smooth, easy to read, and came with extra tips. Locks in solid as well.

  • A good buy for the money
Its very well made. I wish the wheel turned but it still works pretty good. Solid brass and the measurements are clearly visible.

  • Good product backed by AMAZING customer service
I habe had this product for a little over a year. It comes ready to use with 2 spare cutter wheels, just in case. Turns out those spare wheels were absolutely needed as I managed to break/chip mine fairly quickly (I am rough with my stuff). At the time my last wheel gave out I went looking for replacements, this was roughly six months prior to writing this. Clarke brothers, at the time, did not have a way to get just the replacement wheels (they do now, more on that) so I set outdoor trying wheels from various other brands/companies but never found one that fit 'correctly'. There are some that will get you by but they don't fit well. Finally giving up, I messaged Clarke brothers to plead with them to male replacement cutter wheels available. To my surprise, I was informed that replacement cutter wheels will be made available on amazon in the near future and was assured that replacement would be sent to me. I waited months for said wheels and they never arrived. Again I reached out to Clarke brothers. They assured me that the cutters would arrive within the next few weeks and that a logistics issue was causing the delay. Another few weeks with nothing. Then, a Clarke brothers rep reached out to me regarding the issue. I was informed that, due to the long delay in fulfilling my request, that I would receive another marking gauge with replacement wheels. So, in order for Clarke brothers to hold themselves to thier standards, I got a free marking gauge on top of the one I have already, just so they could make sure they kept thier promise of providing me with replacement cutter wheels. This is the kind of customer service that every company should have. As for the product itself, it is a simple elegant design. The weight feels good in the hand, making it's use comfortable. The cutters are sharp enough but, like most tool blades, could be improved with some additional honing. Tje anti roll head is also a great feature, not necessarily needed, but makes the product just a bit better. Since I now have a second marking gauge it will replace my first, much cheaper and poorly designed gauge (which is also a wheel gauge, if anyone wanted to know). I still intend on purchasing a micro adjust marking gauge, and was going back and forth between Clarke brothers and another brand. The customer service that Clarke brothers provided basically guaranteed my purchase so I will be making that soon. ... show more

  • Accurate, easy to use woodworking tool
If you are a confirmed carpenter then you already know how useful a marking gauge is. If you aren't, then this is a great tool for scribing lines parallel to a straight edge of a piece of timber. You tighten the brass guide at the desired measurement and then run it down the wood, scratching a shallow line with the small sharp ring at the end of the rod. Make the first scribe shallow and concentrate on keeping the guide against the edge. Repeat to get a clearer impression. The rod itself is steel and sticks nicely to a magnetic tool holder. The ring has a flat side that stops the tool rolling off the bench. The marking are accurate and it is possible to be just a little better with small measurements than using a ruler and pencil. ... show more

  • Wheel marker
It's a nice tool for marking the center of your work piece, or marking down the edge of your work. Overall it's a nice tool

  • Easy, fast, and precise marking tool that's a high quality must-have for woodworkers.
This is a well-made, precise marking tool. It's a great value for the money. Once I got it, I wished I had done so sooner. It really improved marking precision and speed for me.
