  • Fantastic Chalk Line
By far the best one I've used. The string inside is by no means cheap it feels durable and long lasting. The hook on it is aggressive enough to hold on to almost anything. And the 3.5:1 Gearing is fantastic full reeling in. Definently recommend. No regrets. Even the full plastic housing feels durable enough. ... show more

  • Gears easily stripped out
I love Irwin chaulk lines but after recently purchasing 3 of them and in a period of 4 weeks had each one of there gearings strip out I dont recommend this Chaulk line for anyone. Irwin sells many other lines that function perfectly for a significantly longer period of time.

  • Top quality chalk line
I'm a professional carpenter and I've tried every kind of chalk box there is. This unit is one of the best, it has a good gear reduction that allows fast rewind of your line, a strong oversized hook that can really bite into material and it has a simple auto-line-out button that allows you to release line without turning the handle. The only real downfall of the unit is it's relative bulkiness, and the possibility of jamming when overfilled. If you overfill this box with chalk the gears will jam and the unit will break. Tajima also makes a solid chalk box, probably a little higher overall quality, but it costs a few bucks more. Both are excellent products. ... show more

  • Junk
Total piece of junk. Just got it yesterday. Used it today, snapped about 4-6 lines and line got stuck in the cap and broke!

  • Great chalk line. Can't go wrong.
Great chalk line. String is thick enough to not get tangled, but not so thick to be imprecise. The crank to recoil it is efficient and I never had an issue with it. I used this to snap many, many lines while finishing my basement. All the lines were precise and usable. If you're alone, set a full can of paint on the end to snap a solo line. ... show more
