  • Good tent, but not the easiest to set up.
Color: Green Size: 5-9 Person
I ordered this for my parents, who intend to travel with it, and I helped them set it up the first time. I read several reviews, and was expecting this tent to be a little simpler to set up than it actually turned out. The instructions could certainly be a little bit more clear. We started setting the tent up just before dark, so the low light conditions definitely complicated the matter, which is relevant for people who may pull into camp after dark. There are several different collapsible poles, some are interchangeable, some are not, so sorting through those was less than ideal. Erecting the tent was pretty typical once all the poles were in the correct places. Once the tent was up, it did seem to have good quality, and the material seemed durable enough. The opening to attach to the car is large and elastic, so it would likely fit a majority of hatchback style vehicles well. The screened in room was roomy enough to fit a couple of chairs and relax with at least some protection from the sun. The unit itself was also fairly aesteticly pleasing once set up, even though the color did not match the car. It was very roomy inside, with ample room for several adults to comfortably sleep. All things considered, it does seem like it will do the job well. ... show more

  • From Tent to Tiny house.
Color: Blue Size: 5-9 Person
This tent was way better than I expected it to be. The inside of the tent is so spacious and I was glamping so I needed the room. There was space for everything I owned; cot, chairs, side tables, laundry basket, heater and eventually my camping toilet and projector screen. I had plenty of space to move around , stand up and even my dog, who’s 60lb and half German Shepard, had space to relax. The rain fly kept me dry on the rainy night but some moisture does accumulate in the sides of the tent when it got below the 40’s. That was mostly because of the heater I had running for a few hours before bed. I never had any water collecting inside the tent or under it. Setup was easy, it took some time in the beginning but once you know what to do it gets easier and easier. I love that I can access the trunk of my car which I used for storage. It felt nice knowing at any point I could throw my mattress in the trunk and close it without ever having to walk outside. There are 3 access points and 1 window which was nice. Getting in and out was very easy because the zippers are very sturdy and durable. They never snagged or got stuck on anything which was really nice. The extra bump out was great for my dog to hang in or just to help cut down on bugs, which it did an amazing job at. This was first time camping since I was young and this tent definitely helped me feel comfortable and confident. It’s a great value for the money and I’d recommend it to anyone. ... show more

  • Surprisingly easy to set up as a standalone tent.
Color: Khaki Size: 4-5 Person
I am using this tent on a cross-country trip. The photos I've added are the first place I camped. THINGS I LOVE ABOUT THIS TENT: - I was able to set it up for the first time, as a standalone tent, after mindnight, by myself. I had it up in about 15-20 minutes. I have very little camping experience and have never set a tent up before. - Wind. There has been some big wind here and the tent was solid. And quite windproof. Only when a gust came from a particular angle and got up beneath the rain fly did any of the cold air make it inside. I think this is outstanding, given that the ceiling of the tent comprises 3 mesh panels and one solid panel. - Rain. This morning it rained pretty hard and, apart from the lovely sound of the drops hitting the tent, it had no effect on my experience. - Warmth. Currently, I'm at a site with an electrical hookup. Using a small heater (Dreo, also purchased on Amazon), it is entirely comfortable. Sometimes **too** warm! It's been getting down into the mid-to-low 30s (ºF) at night, so I think that's pretty great. I haven't even had to break out my heavy-duty sleeping bag yet. Just a blanket and a ground pad. Granted, it's a warm blanket. On the warmer nights, in the 50s (ºF), just a Therma Rest camp blanket (the kind you can put around your shoulders, etc., a one person blanket) has been plenty. - Comfort. The spacious dimensions of this tent are great. No floor area is lost to sharp angles. I have me, my large dog, work materials, and lots of stuff I'm sorting through while deciding what to take with me on my trip, it's more than enough room. (On the other hand, I have no idea how five people could sleep in here, unless it was sardine can-style.) - Heavy duty Velcro, where Velcro is used. - A totally unexpected Velcro-ed opening at the lower left of the front of the tent for running a power cord inside! THINGS I LIKE ABOUT THIS TENT: - 6 mesh pockets on the walls for storing small things. - The windows and door screen flaps are easy to roll into the space between the bottom of the zippers and the actual bottom of the window. - The windows and door screen only roll down to waist height, which is a nice privacy enhancer. - The structure of the ceiling means that using an indoor stove, such as a Vesta (also purchased on Amazon), is easy and does not require stove pipes or a stove jack. **note: the Vest burns small cans of fuel that are purported to release little-to-no carbon monoxide, but I would not feel comfortable using it in a completely sealed tent** - Useful loops and loop-and-toggle in convenient places. You could hang a lantern from the middle top of the ceiling with the sturdy hook provided. I was able to string the lights you see in one of the pictures by connecting them to loops in the upper corners. Etc. There is still one loop, made of the tent fabric, on the outside upper left of the door, for which I have not figured out a purpose, but can think of a number of ways to make use of it. - The many thoughtful details make it possible to set up and rearrange things as best suits your needs. - The tent stakes go in easily, are very easy to clean when they come out, and have a solid construction. THINGS THAT COULD USE IMPROVEMENT: - The zipper along the bottom of the door does not have great clearance for the small piece fabric meant to block wind, etc., where the two zippers meet. It's a bit annoying to have to take several tries to get it closed without catching the fabric. - Since I am *not* attaching it to my car at this time, the part of the tent that becomes the linking tunnel are awkwardly situated on the outside of the tent. If you look at the first photo, you can see it kind of billowing out and obscuring the window/door on that side. The night time photo shows how I tried to roll it up. There are no directions for the standalone function included with the tent—despite the fact that it was an advertised feature when I purchased it—so I searched online for directions or videos for how to stow it when not in use. I found nothing. So, I rolled them up as best I could figure out, given where there are loop-and-toggle structures on the outside of the tent. BUT, I could not find a way to do so that doesn't create ample opportunities for water, detritus, and insects to get inside and stay there. I want to believe that there is a way to stow it neatly and in a way that prevents these intrusions, but haven't figured it out, or a way to find out. I think the best option would be if it zipped on and off, or had a pouch it could be zipped into on each side and the bottom. - The instructions. The instruction card is made of durable material, but gives so little information as to be almost comical. When I tried, some months ago, to set the tent up by using them, I failed even after an hour and forty-five minutes of trying. I think the reason it went up so quickly this time, is that I didn't use the instructions. I looked at the components and put it together. The first time, I put the rain fly up 180º opposite of how it is meant to be, because neither the instructions nor my mind could figure out where the pole for the doorway goes. [Hint: it's not attached to the door or tent. It's a pocket on one edge of the rain fly.]. And, as I said, it offers no information about how to use the tent as a standalone, not connected to your vehicle. And, as a novice, one thing I really notice missing is instructions on how to fold it to get it back in the bag. - The 6 mesh pockets on the wall would benefit from a center-top Velcro attachment. I plan to add one to each. - Finding a way to contact the company is very difficult. One can find a mailing address, but, so far, I have not found a phone number. I want to call them to ask about how to stow the car attachment when not in use. <sigh> All in all, I think this tent provides good value for money, so far. Time will tell how the fabric coating holds up, etc., but I think my cross-country trip home is going to be really pleasant with this tent. It's so spacious that I doubt I will ever connect it to my car. There's really no reason to, at this time. If I were in a heavy duty mosquito environment, it might be more appealing, though. This is late October, and I'm in the northern half of the country, so mosquitos are not very present. I am happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • Fantastic Tent!! Wish this had been a thing years ago!
Color: Blue Size: 5-9 Person
If I could, I would give this tent 20 stars! It is very well made, comfortable sleeping, very roomy, fit our van perfectly, easy to put up and amazingly water resistant. We took it on its maiden voyage this weekend - no rain was predicted, but true to Michigan - it did anyway - torrential rain at 4:30 am. Shockingly the only water that came in was from the channels that run from front to back on the roof of the van and then ran down the inside of the doorframe to the bumper. Our son was in the tent portion and stayed completely dry. Not even any leaking through the sleeve. My only suggestion is that all 4 sides would have a door giving an option to enter on each side since there was a tree right outside so we weren’t able to fully extend the overhang of the rain fly. This was not a deal breaker since we went in and out through the screen porch. Next time we’ll flip the fly to protect the window for when it rains. Attaching was pretty easy, once we studied how it was supposed to work - the instructions weren’t the best, but we were able to figure it out easily. Photos show how it worked for us. ... show more

  • Super reliable SUV Tent
Color: Green Size: 5-9 Person
Best SUV Tent we have found. Easy set up (even in the dark). I've had this tent for a year now and have used it 9 times. Reliable, affordable & great quality. Been through a couple storms with it and it was very stable. Super roomy inside for all out gear and we love the screened in porch area. I would buy again. Highly recommend this tent for SUV camping. ... show more

  • I'm keeping this one!!!
Color: Blue Size: 4-5 Person
Best tent ever! I have recently returned 2 different tents that turned put to be crap. I had high hopes for this tent and was not disappointed! EVERYTHING about this tent is quality.vThe seams are solid, the zippers do not catch or stick, the poles are thick and sturdy , the cords within them are tight making it wind worthy. The packaging for all the poles and stakes is sturdy and will last. I used this 4 days in the mountains. There were 2 heavy rainstorms during my stay and there was NO water in the tent or car. I am a 66 year old woman with a bad back and was able to set this up myself. (I will admit to a few cuss words during the process) But the Velcro on the top section where the poles fit in, was a big help, especially in taking it down. The rainfly worked perfectly. I am serious. If I could give this product 10 stars I would. Especially after dealing with the previous pieces of junk I had to return. I've camped a lot in my life and have owned 10 different tents. This is the best. ... show more

  • Tent
Color: Blue Size: 5-9 Person
It was a great tent... Unfortunately the first night we used it we woke up to wind breaking the tent apart. There's now a hole from one of the poles snapping and a couple more broken poles. So I guess we just lost out on a couple hundred bucks. I think if you use this in perfect conditions it would be great, but we live in Oklahoma and there are rarely ever perfect conditions (it's always windy here), and the first night we used it was in Colorado. Thankfully we still had our old one as a back up. May update with more info and pictures of it up before it tore to pieces. ... show more

  • Stable in wind and rain.
Color: Khaki Size: 4-5 Person
I bought this awhile ago for beach car camping on Portsmouth Island (Outer Banks of North Carolina). This past week was my first chance to put it to the test. First off I violated the first rule of camping. I did not do a practice run with setting it up. My wife and I figured it out but the directions were sketchy. The basic set up was fairly straight forward but there are a plethora of straps and buckles with no clear instructions about how to use them. But, as I said, we figured it out. We used specialty sand stakes to anchor the four corners and we set up a large canopy over the front access door for shade. On our third night we got serious wind and rain. The the tornado warning went off about 9:00 PM. There was really nothing to be done except for my wife and I to hunker down with our two dogs in the back of the car. After the tornado warning was lifted, we had a long night of heavy rain and strong winds and the tent stood up to it really well. It was very stable for such a large and tall tent and there was almost no leakage in the driving rain. There was a hint of water that got under the rain fly but nothing that was a problem. I would highly recommend this tent. It is tall and roomy and docks very securely to the hatchback of our Subaru Outback. Paired with a collapsible awning it makes a great car camping system. ... show more
