  • Great shelf. Hints for installing.
Size: 18"x48" Color: White
Very pleased with this solid, strong shelf. Takes time to install, but worth it when finished. Very important to drill the pilot holes in accurate spot and not tilted as these factors can cause installing the bolts to be very difficult! Suggest making a template out of cardboard to exactly locate the pilot holes, as the shelf brackets are not easy to keep in place when marking for drilling holes. Would be helpful if the manufacturer provided a template to make the installation easier and quicker. Some reviewers had trouble mounting the shelf onto the brackets as the installation bolts block the slot closest to the wall. This was a problem for me too when trying to install by putting the shelf into the slot at the end of the bracket first, then trying to fit it into the other two slots. I couldn’t get it to work! My solution was to install using the slot closest to the wall first. I had to put the end of the shelf into the slot closest to the wall on one bracket, then slide the shelf to the other end to get it into the closest slot on both brackets. Tilting the shelf at an angle helped. Next, I flexed the end of one bracket and the shelf slid into the bracket slot slot furthest from the wall. (Ok to adjust the shelf position a few inches to allow space to flex bracket so it fits I nto the slot). Did the same for the other bracket, then adjusted the shelf position slightly to finish. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • A great alternative to ceiling mounted racks
Size: 24"x48" Color: White
Our new house has this strange alcove where our water heater sits (see image). I purchased two of the 4' x 8' ceiling mounted racks that I plan to install, but decided to make use of this weird alcove and these shelves. The alcove is 24" x 70" and our ceiling is 12' high. So much potential storage space. My wife loves how easy it is to grab items off the shelf from the stair landing. Easy reach and easy to stack items (COSTCO TP case). I did decide to buy some grade 5 lag screws as I had read that others had problems with the provided screws snapping off the heads. I used the washers that came provided and installed with a 13mm socket mounted on my cordless drill/driver. Pre-drilled the holes first and mounted into the stud wall. The rack becomes more stable after securing the wall side of the rack to a stud wall with the C-bracket and screws. I highly recommend these shelves. Good directions. 2/5 installation difficulty level. Needed tools: level, drill with bits, pencil to mark hole locations, socket or wrench, tape measure. ... show more

  • Amazing Shelves!
Size: 18"x48" Color: Hammertone
Nothing flimsy about these! I picked these because of their looks, ratings, and that its a veteran owned company. I was not disappointed! Instead of the usual, cheap, tiiiiny screws you usually get with shelves - these come with sturdy, thick bolts that aren't going anywhere soon. The brackets are strong and lovely. The shelves themselves are made of sturdy metal that snap into little divets on the brackets for added security. We'll be buying more of these! Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Good Shelf but know a few things...
Size: 24"x48" Color: Hammertone
First, these shelves are what they're sold to be- shelves. They're heavy and feel like good quality. The directions are where it's a little dicey. Installing the brackets are straight forward; set approx 32" apart per the directions, predrill 3 holes per bracket, into studs and use the bolts and washers to secure. Pretty easy. Now, my studs are a weird length apart from where I wanted to mount them, so I had to go into dry wall. I used drywall anchors- very sturdy ones and I don't plan on storing anything near the limit of the shelves. So far, so good. One viewer wrote about how sharp the actual shelves are and they're right. It just so happens I mounted these next to my backdoor in my garage and as you go down the stairs, you become about level with the shelf. The bottom shelf is mounted about eye level and I'm 5'11. They stick out quite a bit...more than I was expecting and I had to zip tie a towel to the corner in fear of someone smoking their face on it. The corners are sharp and each cross wire sticks out...not ideal at all. The directions are pretty bad. I'm a very mechanically inclined person, so it wasn't as much of a problem with me but you need to be careful how you install the shelves on the bracket, otherwise you could bend the bracket, like some people experienced. The shelves are a little odd in that sense. I also hate how the shelves don't secure into the brackets....at all. They just slide around. Also not ideal; you get about 2-3 inches of play in either side. The bracket that comes with it to secure the shelf to the wall does just that; secures it to the wall to protect it from slide back and forth....but that's not a problem because it sits in grooves on the bracket. The issue is sliding left-to-right. So, overall, I think these shelves are fine. I'm on the fence about whether or not they're worth the money. You're paying for a hefty product...not really a good designed product. My 3 stars is more about the poor directions for those who aren't mechanically inclined and sort of the way they sit in the bracket, etc. ... show more

  • Strong and well made.
Size: 18"x48" Color: Hammertone
These shelves come in three foot or four foot lengths. I installed two rows of three foot lengths in my garage to form two nine foot shelves, one above the other by about 18 inches, for storage of mostly boxed supplies and gardening tools. I also made a working platform at a nearby corner with two four foot sections at 90 degrees to make a counter, but that of course needs some cardboard covering to keep the small stuff from falling through. You’ll need a long level to insure straight rows and some zip ties to make sure the abutting pieces are held together well and uniformly. They’re heavy and very, very strong (as advertised). You may need shims and an appropriate masonry drill if you have cement block walls, like mine, and which aren’t perfectly flat. I use the hooks for holding tools, garden hose, and the like. It’s a well made product. I picked it because of the 18 inch depth; 12 inches is too narrow for the job, and 24 inches is too deep for my garage. ... show more
