I was asked by the maker to review this product. It is a good product - does what it says it is going to do. I did not test to see if it would actually hold a five pound tool but neither have I seen anything that suggest that it would not. I took off a star because of a design issue for me. I would really, really, really like to see bars like this have the mounting holes on 16” centers. That would make the overall length 17 something inches. I don’t like being able to mount only one end of this bar into a stud. Maybe I am too picky but it is how I feel. Cheers! Too soon to rate durability. ... show more

I just installed 2 of the 4 yesterday. Using them to hold my yard tools (trowel, clippers). strong enough magnet to hold a pair of hedge shears, easy to attach to wall with provided substantial black screws and plastic end clips. I was able to mount 2 side by side, as the end clips allow you to "string" them together. Look good that way. The magnets come with a brand label which seems intended to be permanent, it is not a very good installation for the label but I did not mess with it (essentially a tape, applied at manufacturer, on the magnet itself). The second is the barcode label which I think needs to be removed. Be sure to remove it prior to installation. It is one of the permanent labels and is hard to remove. Just a bit of a pain...not worth a star reduction...I forgot to take one of the two off, until installed. I am picky. ... show more

Seems well constructed, but the magnet is just not very strong. I'm afraid if I brush against my chisels they'll all fall off. Also with studs being 16"... why don't they make these 17" wide instead of 12? But yeah, about 30% more strength to the magnet would make these perfect, otherwise it's good for holding screws and small screwdrivers, but not much else. ... show more

    • Great For Pistol Magazine Storage!

These magnetic strips are a cost effective and great solution for securing firearm magazines in my gun safe. I actually tied them to a MOLLE door panel in the configuration that worked for me and they are doing great. The magnets are plenty strong enough to hold fully loaded XDm .45 mags with 13 rounds of .45 ACP in them. Loaded magazines will slide since they do not directly contact the magnet and only touch the rails on either side of the magnet. There isn't enough friction to hold them securely in place but there are plenty of solutions for that including hanging the mags upside down so the base plate catches the rail and they can't slide off. Adding a thin layer of friction material over the rails could work too. Compared to other magazine storage solutions for safes I think these are a great value. I highly recommend them. ... show more
