I actually bought this for my small walk-in closet, so that I could stand on carpet, rather than the bare floor. I chose this rug because my closet walls are painted a moss green that matches the rug, and I thought the bold print would work well in such a small space. It's so pretty! It makes the closet look really luxurious. And, at this size, the thickness keeps it from moving or bunching, so I didn't need to add a carpet pad.

This rug is nice and thick and feels great underfoot. I have it in an office/exercise/music room and it looks great, helps dampen echoes, and is comfortable to sit/lie on for stretching. I've had it for almost two months now, and it does shed like a fiend, but I'm told a wool rug will do that, and it doesn't bother me. (Your mileage may vary.). At the 9x12 size it's easier if you have two or three people to unpack it and help place it, as all that lovely thickness makes it very heavy and hard to maneuver. I've got a rug pad under it, but I doubt it would move much even if I didn't. All in all, I really like it and am glad I bought it. I have taken off a star because the pictures are a bit misleading, color-wise. I know screens/monitors affect how colors are displayed, so I looked at the rug here and on Safaviah's site (same pics) on multiple pcs, laptops, phones, and tablets before I bought it. On each one, this looked like a bright rug - bright cherry red, bright white, light grey, and sort of a dark cobalt blue. The actual rug is darker and a good deal warmer in tone - harvest gold, stone grey, tomato-ish red, some darker putty-ish grey, navy blue, and what looks like black in the pic is actually a dark pine green. It's a gorgeous rug, and fortunately for me the colors still worked - but if you're looking for a bright and cheerful, fresh sort of feel, this is a bit darker and somehow has a more old-fashioned feel to it. It's still a fun pattern, it's just a lot more muted than I was expecting. Hope that helps!

I had been shopping for the longest time for an area rug with the following criteria: 1. A number of agreeing reviews on the rug's quality. 2. Multiple colors in varied pattern so as to remain usable as decor changes. 3. Blend of modernity and some pattern reminiscent of Turkey or Moroccan style. 4. Nothing bright white or with too much plain white/light colors because I have a dog. I had a rough budget of around $350 or less - but the rug must be of great quality for the money. In this respect, I narrowed my search to Safavieh, which I had seen garner almost unanimously wonderful reviews across many products. So far I LOVE: 1. Faint "new rug" smell that dissipated within an hour, max. 2. Edges laying flat within a few hours. 3. Wrapped in multiple layers thick plastic, so they care about the product they provide. 4. Minimal shedding - STOP WHINING ABOUT WOOL RUGS SHEDDING THAT'S THEIR DEAL - if you can't handle this, stop buying wool rugs??? 5. GORGEOUS in person. 6. Very durable backing to the rug. 7. Thick and soft underfoot. A few things: 1. The pattern is NOT symmetrical, which is very clearly depicted in photos. Why are people acting like they had no idea this would happen to their own rug? I love it, gives it a more modern flair. 2. See note about shedding above. 3. I have not needed extra padding underneath, nor anything for grip. But mine is also pinned down by a couch and a coffee table.

This is such a lovely rug. I've had many wool rugs and none have shed this badly, none! The whole of my hardwood floors from the living room through the dining room and into my bedroom are covered in wool fibers! I've only had it a couple weeks, perhaps it will slow at some point but for now it requires vacuuming every other day. Not just vacuuming the rug either, but the whole of my little 1400 square foot house. Labor intensive for a disabled old lady. To end on a happier note, the colors are beautiful and deep, not bright but vibrant. Part of the pattern is missing. I had not picked up on that when I ordered it but I rather like it. Oh well, exercise is a good thing. January 2022 - Still sheds. Still filling my vacuum cleaner bag. Still beautiful and cozy. But what a bother! If I could sell it for what I paid for it, I’d do that with nary a look over my shoulder!
