  • Nice enough, nice whistle accompaniment - UPDATED
Style: Roof Rack
I bought this for my boyfriend and tried to help him install it. It took longer than it was supposed to, and the directions were not very clear (they want you to mainly rely on photographs, with a tiny amount of supplementary text). We finally got the roof rack installed, and something on it whistles, a SUPER loud and obnoxious whistle that starts when you drive faster than $50.. It's been a few weeks, and various of tape and RTV haven't solved the problem- sometimes it just makes it whistle at a different speed. We reached out to the manufacturer last night (my boyfriend had done so previously, and tried their suggestions, to no avail, previously). They responded today with the following: "Sorry to hear about the whistling from your rack. We have experienced the same thing on some of our Jeeps here. The whistling is the unfortunate nature of the beast. Mainly due to changing the path that the air travels up the windshield and hits the windshield hoop. We have had good luck by using a piece of 1/4" or 3/8" fuel hose on the "webbing" under the bar itself. We have seen significant changes by using anything from a 6" section in each upper corner to the entire length of the hoop. We take the fuel hose and slice it lengthwise and slip it over the webbing. It should have no problem holding on to the powdercoat however, a few dabs of RTV will helps it stay put even more. I would give that a shot to see if it works for you. You are basically disrupting the air flow and lessening the change of whistling coming from the rack and/or lights." The whistle on ours happened without the lights, but we're going to attempt this fix in the next week or two, and I'll update my review then. The rack went on "relatively" easily, and has been incredibly useful, but the whistling is a problem. If that can be fixed, it'll easily be 4 stars. ... show more

  • Modifications Are Neccesary
Style: Roof Rack
After combing through the many options for my 2013 JK 2 door, this rack was posed as being the best for the price. Shipping was fine. It was packaged very well. However, my issues are as follows: 1. The top rails are 4 inches to short. What few adjustments can be made, were made. I still had to go to the auto parts store and get more piping to extend each rail so they would reach the front light bar. 2. The supplied hardware sucks. I had to go to the hardware store and replace 5 bolts and all lock nuts. They were supposed to be flat hex heads, but they were not "drilled" out and only 1 self locking nut had a nylon ring. 3. The holes for the wiring in the base of the light bar was to small for me to fit wires through. I had to drill them out much larger. Overall, after the modifications I made and the hardware was replaced, it has turned out to be a very stout rack. With having a soft top, I have had very little extra wind noise. That is to be expected though. It is a good rack. If it came with the correct piping, drilling and proper hardware, This would have been a 5 Star rack all the way. ... show more

  • I like it and will raise the rating once the fit issue is resolve.
Style: Roof Rack
I like it and really want it to work as it is a very good rack in concept, but there are some fitting issue on the 2014 Wrangler. Been working with Rugged Ridge and they looking at a fix for it as they has some of the fitting problem where the rack don't meet the front crossbar pads as well. The problem is the the rack don't meet the front crossbar pads. They could lengthen the main load bearing rails or raise the front crossbar and lengthen the landing pads as a fix. I coming up a little over 3 1/2"short and you can't just push it forward easily. As the rack is design to reach a point where is about level and should land on the front landing pads as you still need about 3" and the rack begin going from position to a downward angle pushing down on the landing pads getting harder as you move the rack forward. One person can't do it without a racketing strap. If this item is manufacture in China; that may be the whole problem! ... show more

  • Burley!
Style: Roof Rack
I read previously posted reviews mentioning fit issues. I contacted tech support at the mfg. And they said the single biggest issue is jeeps with a body lift. I don't have a body lift and the rack went together like a dream. No issues whatsoever. Very, Very well made and packaged. Very nice looking installed as well. My Yakima Loadwarrior bolted right up using the load bar adapters. I used 58" load bars which match the width of the hard top and provide more room for bikes and boats. I did have to push the rack forward from the rear while my wife installed the quick disconnect knows and as the instructions say, Completely install the rack before final tightening hardware. ... show more

  • it was a nice purchase.
Style: Roof Rack
Bought these after looking at several rack options for my Jeep. Was very east to install. The front clips aren't mounting flush, and they have a little give to them, but overall, it was a nice purchase.

  • This is the worse mistake I purchased from Amazon
Style: Roof Rack
This is the worse mistake I purchased from Amazon. It took about 1 1/2 hours to install. With the right tools, not a difficult task. The rack looks good and is sturdy enough for the rating. The tilt function worked well, though I did not try to remove the rag top. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE RACK CHANGES THE AERODYNAMICS OF THE RAG TOP AND IT BEGINS TO FLAP AT ABOUT 45 MPH! AT 60 MPH YOU CAN'T HEAR THE RADIO ANYMORE AND ABOVE 60 MPH YOU CAN'T HEAR EACH OTHER TALK. I tried to adjust different things and after several weeks I removed the rack. Too late to return to Amazon. Anyone want to purchase one slightly used Jeep roof rack for 1/2 price? ... show more
