I have this review 5 stars even though it isn't very soft, especially right out of the packaging. But for a rug that is washable, it can't be everything! I bought this ruggable to replace an area carpet of the same size over ceramic tiled floor, that was very stained and gross. The ruggable is in a high traffic area and has been washed twice already. When I first put it out it had an almost slick rubbery feel but that has gone away with washing it. It doesn't provide much cushioning, if any really, which I didn't expect. I thought the padding underneath would provide some, but it really doesn't. I love that it can be washed and stays in place with the mat underneath. It's fairly easy to put down for one person, but follow the video instructions and know that the carpet will "stick" to the padding wherever it touches. WE got this rug because we have pets and we were tired of how difficult it is to clean regular rugs. This rug has been a huge convenience. Poop, pee, or barf, I can just throw it in the washer and it is clean again. We got a large one so it is a little difficult to set up, but well worth the trouble, IMO. Really lovely. Lies flat and does not slip. I haven't washed it yet, but the idea of the two piece backing/rug is brilliant. The only reason I took off one star is that it makes a funny crunchy sound when you walk on it. It is however, a winner.

Low nap. Think it will be easy to keep clean. Easy install after I went online for the directions as the directions that came with it were totally opposite of what I needed to do. Not sure what the corner pockets are for as all instruction say not to put the pad into the corner pockets. Carpet lays flat without putting it in the pockets, so all is OK.
