I installed this unit today. The build quality seemed surprisingly good for most parts. It is dead quiet and cooled our bedroom to 61 in less than an hour. I tested the wattage with a meter and it maxed out around 900 watts when on turbo and around 800 watts without turbo (which seems unnecessary). I really appreciate the stress relief joint they added to the line set on the indoor unit. The indoor unit is also much more attractive than I had thought it might be. No complaints so far. I will update if something goes wrong. Edit: After pulling the room down to temp, it hovers around 250 (at night) to 350 watts (during the day) ... show more

We just put 6 of these in our home to replace our antiquated whole house HVAC system. The power bills are down and our house has never been this cool during our hot Nevada summers. These units easily handle keeping the house 30 degrees cooler than outside! I will caution against wall mounting though as they can cause vibration in the house studs. We have one in the garage that was just fine and we never hear it but we mounted two to the walls and they make a lot of strange random vibrations in other parts of the house. If possible, go with the ground pad or concrete pad mount. We're now figuring out how we're going to shim a pedastool under them without disconnecting them and letting all the refrigerant out so we can take them off the side of the house and put them on posts in concrete. ... show more

I don't recommend trying to install it yourself unless you know a bit about electricity and hvac. You will need to run 220 volt 15 Amp power on 12 or 14 gauge wires. You will need a hvac vacuum pump, and you should have a bottle of nitrogen and set of guages to pressurize the line set to check for leaks. Other than that mine has been running on 73 degrees with 90 degree tepms outside for the last 3 weeks with no issues. It comes with 15 or so feet of lineset, if that is not enough you can purchase more on Amazon. They sell different length lineset kits that come with the insulated lineset and the needed wiring to go between your outside and inside units. ... show more

The Amazon description for this item clearly indicates that the refrigerant in this unit is supposed to be R32. However the actual refrigerant used per the unit label is R410. Considering that R410 is being phased out completely within a year or so this could be a big deal for many buyers.
