  • My Favorites!
I bought a set of these from on a whim from a clearance bin at a local music store. Now I won't use anything else! They were exactly the sound i was looking for... bright enough to cut through the mix, but not too harsh and a good low end thump! The nickel is easier on the fingers and frets, too! Great strings for a great price! ... show more

  • Inexpensive and good quality for SOME basses
Strings play well, have the great Rotosound sound, last long, have a smooth feel, and are very inexpensive. However, the full diameter of the E-string's winding may be a bit long for basses with a 34-inch scale length and a top-loading bridge saddle. On my Yamaha RBX250, the full diameter winding starts to wrap around the E-string tuning post. That doesn't happen with the D'Addario EXL165. These Rotobass strings may work better with thru-body 34-inch basses or 35-inch top-load basses. So that's the only reason why I didn't give these strings a 5-star rating. ... show more

  • Not bad for the money
For the price they are not bad. I am not a serious bass player. I just play in my room and not in front of any crowds. I have bought D'addaro Chromes in the past and thought they exhibited a much "brighter" sound than the Rotosound. I would not recommend these for professional players.

These strings made my project bass sound amazing, they sound great with jazz pickups and P-bass pickups, I am going to continue to put these on my bass and future basses. Great strings for the price.
