I love these outside lights. I bought two. One for the front door and one for the side door. I am so glad I did. I live in an older home. When this neighborhood was built, they elected not to put in street lights. My street is very dark. Most neighbors turn on their front porch lights. These lanterns replaced existing ones from 24 years ago so I didn’t have to prepare the electrical connections, just replace the old with the new. This saved me from having to drill through concrete bricks as I originally had to years ago. Fortunately the attaching screws are standard placement on the mounting fittings. I installed three lanterns: two on either side of the garage and one by the front door. The only problem I had with one of them is pulling out the foam block that was shipped inside the lantern. The styrofoam block is in a plastic bag and was easily removed by temporarily unscrewing the lantern’s top and removing the lantern, then sliding the bag with the block out. One of the lanterns had very stubborn screws that I could not unscrew. I ended up cutting the styrofoam block up in order to remove it through the bottom of the lantern. This caused much of the foam to disintegrate and many foam parts stuck to me and were very difficult to remove. I had to use a shop vac to remove all the mess. Other than that, everything fit well and the lanterns look very nice. You can put any standard bulb in them. We put old fashioned Edison LEDs that will last longer than incandescents and be much more efficient. ... show more

The style and quality of construction is nice. The glass has some intentional "aged" effects (streaks/bubbles). The black parts are metal and powder coated. We are quite happy with the purchase. Bought two, one for the back and one for the front of the house. A 4" round "old work" plastic electrical box is suitable for the installation. ... show more
