Description

“Combustive.” —Esquire • “This novel should come with an X rating.” —Los Angeles Times • “All intensity and desire…will have you turning the pages as fast as you can.” —Chicago Review of Books • “A new spin on forbidden lust.” —Debutiful For readers of Luster, All Fours, and Vladimir: a provocative, sexy, and unflinchingly candid novel about a white-hot relationship and the two complicated people who emerge from it transformed. Noa Simon is a thirty- six-year-old filmmaker who knows what she wants, and when she meets Teddy Rosenfeld, an antagonistic, older CEO, she goes for the jugular. An electrifying encounter in a bathroom stall after their first meeting only serves to whet Noa’s appetite, and despite Teddy’s subsequent rejections, she is exhilarated by the challenge—and by her own insatiability. In her first power play, she takes a job at his office, setting up a battle of wills that Teddy proves unable to resist. Their ravenous, volatile romance will ultimately unearth difficult secrets from both of their pasts and finally force Noa to reckon with her deepest desires and most destructive impulses. Written with visceral intensity and voyeuristic precision, Rosenfeld is an unputdownable story of sexual abandon that titillates and interrogates in equal measure. Read more

  • Sexual obsession, family dysfunction, unresolved grief and a sexy read!
We’re on the outside looking into the purist form of voyeuristic reading. On page one, the author takes us into the heart of the action. A woman meets a man at a wedding, their eyes linger over each other, there’s a savage quality to that look, their need to touch is urgent, yet there’s a danger in their unspoken language. Teddy, wealthy CEO of a thriving biotech company, multiple previous marriages, his ex-wives remain in his orbit, parent to grown boys. Beautiful, younger Noa, a filmmaker/writer, floundering, drawn to his heft and confidence, wants every bit of him. Besotted with each other; the sex is raw, they’re insatiable. Outside of extreme orgasms that have her begging for more, Teddy knows he can’t give her what she needs, assuming she wants commitment, love, family. He wants to possess her yet holds her at bay. His aloof behavior drives her neuroses mad. When she finds herself working at his organization things not only heat up but become complicated. The sex might bring them to new heights, but also brings out the worst in both of them. While you might recognize some aspects of the May/December romance genre, don’t think for a minute this story fits into a mold. It is entirely unique, blending sexual obsession, family dysfunction, unresolved grief into one heck of a read. Outstanding. ... show more

  • Woman hooks up with much older man
This was a story about a young woman named Noa who met two businessmen at a wedding and became intensely attracted to the one named Teddy Rosenfeld. He was heavy, older by about two decades, had imperfect but incredibly cute teeth- and Noa was enchanted. After several drinks it led to an encounter in a bathroom stall that was depraved and set the tone for the rest of the book. I found the main character of Noa unlikeable and annoying. I couldn't understand why Teddy kept putting up with her and doing so many nice things for not just Noa but her family. Noa was unstable, cloying, childish, addictive, combative and unreasonable. There were a lot of body fluids exchanged during the book, hookups in a parking garage, a rarely accessed alcove in a business building, peeing on demand while fully dressed as something to be turned on about- you get the picture. Don't get me wrong, sometimes some of this stuff is entertaining as a voyeur...and it was...but I just had such disdain for this woman. The character of Teddy had the maturity of his years, immense wealth and the capacity to be generous, a no-nonsense attitude that was refreshing- but I just couldn't understand why he seemingly cared so much about Noa with her propensity for getting into spats with him over so much minutiae- with the answer/outcome always being a good roll in the hay. This was an OK read on an entertainment/peekaboo level, witnessing what I considered an unhealthy pairing of souls based mostly on sexual attraction; a young woman who had mommy issues that were never fully fleshed out to the reader, and the usual addictions of cigarette smoking, marijuana, snorting cocaine and drinking alcohol. Thank you to the publisher Avid Reader Press / Simon & Schuster who provided an advance reader copy via NetGalley. ... show more

  • The best novel I read in 2024
Gorgeous writing and fascinating characters. A singular, funny, extremely sexy book. Three people of different ages and interests in my building have read it — and all loved it. Hollywood, please make this a movie.

  • An erotic story.
This is an older man/younger woman trope. It is highly erotic. The story and characters were so wild I couldn’t stop reading. I needed to know how it ends. This story is entertaining with an unconventional relationship.

  • Not my type of book.
Lesson…read the average person’s thoughts in a book first…not the publisher! I am sure other people will love the book.
