I was so excited I didn't need to go out and let the chickens out or to bed. Now it works some days and someday it doesn't work at all. Not sure if we have it set up correctly the solar is in the sun all day. I guess we will continue to play with it and just maybe it will work all the time. :)

Listen to the other reviewers, three months along it start doing it's own thing. I go out no in time to manually open the door to let my chickens in and it's not dark. Almost like it switched from sensor to time by itself. If you are putting an automated door might I suggest you cut a larger door and install the automatic door inside that. In case the auto door stops working. Also I have boughten two of these because the first one broke as well. Recommend a standalone solar battery back up to feed power to the unit, when the board acted funny in took an old USB keyboard and gaffed the cable and used the black and red wire and tied it directly into the panel. Not the circuit that feeds existing battery, but the boards secondary power. It gave me a second life of at least being able to use my buttons again to manually open and close even with the anomalies. For a budget door it seems to work just fine. My coop is a tractor (movable) on a slight incline. The door only likes to be perfectly level which is impossible with a movable coop. Not for me but if your coop is stationary and door mounted level this should do the trick.

Update!!! After 3 months it broke! The sensor won’t work and the door will not shut. Now I had to rig the opening so predators wont get my chickens until I can get a different door. So disappointed with this door. This door is wonderful! I liked that the actual door coiled up instead of rising and being exposed. It does not have a set timer per say however you can press the button at drain time of day and it will continue to open at that time , same with the close button. The solar sensor works and it was we use. Really happy with this door, I just with it had an digital timer that I could set. Took a few days to get the hang of it but now we love it and so do the chickens. ... show more
