I can’t exaggerate how smooth the 2000 size reel is with 15 pound braid. It deftly handled a 29” redfish in Cedar Key, FL with no issues. Unfortunately my rods and reels were stolen out of my boat so I purchased two more. 2nd reel! And I'll be buying a third. This handles like a baitcaster in the handle. It does not have lag or momentum in the handle like other spinning reels. It stop exactly where you want, everytime like a baitcaster. It makes using a spinning reel for many bass lures completely doable. I'm really not sure why some people hate on kastking so much....but this is a very very nice real for the price range. With anti reverse" which is useless" cough, braid ready, smooth reeling L&R hand,bfs capable because its ultra light weight... It's a tremendous reel. I have the 500 on a spin BFS trout rod setup and another 2000 on a bass setup. Love these reels

Great little reel with 6 lb braid and I fished it heavily, but after a year, the bail spring broke in to multiple pieces. :( I contracted Kastking customer service after a number of calls (not open on weekends :P) and found out due to their "business model" there was NO means of me buying extra parts for it. I could mail it in for them to repair it at so many dollars (they would in turn dig through their broken reels to see if they could find the part) and hour so I decided to try to find a similar spring at some machine parts stores ..... long story short, I ended up buying another one because I figured for what I paid (under $30 at that time) I got my moneys worth. ;-) I now have a spare spool for my new reel now & any other parts that may break. :-) I found the drag washers needed to be flattened a bit to be as smooth as I wanted otherwise the drag skips a bit as a fish runs hard. Remove stainless stamped washers and rub over a flat smooth file until the stamped burns on that side are gone. Repeat on other side of washer to remove high spots since you have them out. Snap picture of the stack so you can remember how the sequence goes. :-) YMMV.

I purchased this as a combo with the 6’ ultralight rod. The reel is very smooth and lightweight. Filled it with 2lb line and did some practice casts in the backyard. The rod loads up nicely and I was casting a 1/64 oz weight 30 to 35 yards with ease. The sound of the drag clicker is very satisfying. I’m looking forward to putting this rad and reel to use over the long weekend coming up. This is a great ultralight combo that won’t break the bank.

I purchased this reel in May of 2022 and loved it. We have long winters so it’s cleaned and stored indoors. Today I loaded up and went the river and the reel wouldn’t crank. Since the warranty expired I tried to fix it my self and found the gear was broken in half. I’ve only caught small trout so I’m stumped on how this happened? I also have the larger reel and love it with no issues.
