I added some rubber feet to the end caps on one side so I can lay them sideways and use them as floor monitors when needed. Sound great for the value. Plenty of bass and the highs sound good without being harsh. Of course they're not as nice as some name brands, but still very good, and a fraction the price. I'm powering them with a 600w(rms) amp that seems to get the job done. Not very heavy, but seem well built. I wouldn't get them wet though, as the wood seems kind of cheap. As a pro musician, I transport, set up speakers, Amp etc., then play live keyboard for local dance events. Over the past 30 years I have used all the big brands of pro speakers. Needing new full range mains, I researched features and these Rockville beat all others for full spectrum frequency range, at less weight for same 12" passive cabs in all other brands, and at the lowest price! They exceed my expectations and are the best sounding speakers I have ever owned. Even the gang at last Saturdays dance heard the difference and commented how fab the new speakers sound.     • Perfect for small jobs

These are excellent small-size speakers at a remarkable price. I have two SA 15" main speakers and 10" monitors, but it's too much to drag to a small job, and the 15s are twice as heavy as these 28 pound Rockville PA speakers. I hooked them up right beside my 15s to my Behringer Euro PA amp and the results were very satisfying. The lows are not quite as pronounced and the highs are a little brittle (an effect of the piezo tweeters), but overall there was hardly any drop off in quality or volume. The Rockville speakers are sturdy, covered with a felt-like material, reinforced, have plastic corners and feet, a mounting hole in the bottom, and the connectors are one speak-on and two 1/4" jacks in the back. This allows a speak-on out, as most modern amps have, and a 1/4" connection between them. Each speaker is 8 ohms, and using two makes it 4 ohms total. There is little to criticize about them. I could have wished for a more robust horn and no tweeters, but it's nit-picking for such good sounding and easily portable speakers. I still can't believe I spent only $80 for these speakers. They sound really good. I know equipment so listen to what I'm about to tell you. These speakers will never compete with a $400 speaker. So get at least enuff amp power at least 300watts going to them. Don't run any lower than 50Hz to them. If you want boom add a crossover and a sub. I'm a member of an r&b band and we have peavey behringer jbl and Yorkville speakers. Loaded in our trailer so know what quality sounds like. These are for a smaller system I'm putting together. I'm also using rockville 1000watt 18 inch subwoofer. An rockville crossover and eq. With a behringer epx2800 amp.I set my crossover at 100Hz. And man the sound is awesome. I've only used the with my iPad and not with a band. I will be doing that pretty soon. I'm smart enuff to know I will only be able to use this setup at small events. Mine came in undamaged. Buy these speakers. They should work fine for any size dj event. If they don't work for mains in a band environment you can always use them for stage monitors. I don't know why people give these speakers such high reviews ? They are garbage, maybe you didn't grow up in the 80s and 90s when bass was a big deal.I have a pair of 12 in Cerwin vega that I've owned for 15 years or more and still hit hard ,I only bought this cheap speaker for the price and I had to replace my old one that I kept in the back yard. As soon as I connected my receiver I noticed a big difference with this speaker it sounded more like cheap bookshelf speakers and I've had some nice ones, the biggest disappointment was bass the grill rattle, the box made abnormal sounds and it wasn't that high, I returned them. ... show more
