I bought this subwoofer and a new 8" box from Amazon. This item did sound great when it was first installed into my wife's car. We are in our 50's. A week later she calls me and said she smelled something burning but didn't see smoke. When she got home I open the door of the car and was hit with a strong scent of like electricity or burnt paper. I open the trunk and it was a really bad odor. I thought the amp had fried but it was the Subwoofer. After removing it from the box it was like the cone and wires were hanging off of it. I tried preforming a return as (damage or defective) but it stated that the manufacture would not accept and I wasn't allowed to complete a return or swap within my stated return time. Now I'm stuck with a $125.00 loss. Will not do this again..... Clearly there was something wrong or a defect with this item or it was used before! ... show more

It can handle a lot of power and plenty loud but is very very peaky! Even for an SPL woofer the sound quality is pretty bad. If you’re looking for sound quality this is not for you. If you just want loud at a specific frequency then this is for you.

This little sub... I can't even say enough , I normally run a skar 12 EVL wired at 1 ohm and around 1450 w rms .. that's awesome but it takes a lot of trunk space. Wanted to grab an 8" to be able to use while shopping and man .. this punisher is amazing ! Hits the lows decent and at around 40-50 hz .. it wangs ! Got it wired 2 ohm taking about 900 or so rms and it's a beast for a single 8" . Great job Rockville !!!!!! ... show more

I installed a Skar underseat box in my 2018 Platinum F150 on 2/16/2025 with these 2 - Rockville 1 Ohm Punisher 8inch subs powered with a 1000W Rockville Krypton M3 Mono Block and MY TRUCK ROCKS! Proper Box Size, Ohm load, Tuning with the right Amplifier is key.
