  • A very enjoyable PA for the price, with solid sound and some nice features.
Really happy with this PA. We're using it for vocals with a band. It's not super loud, and it's not ultra precise if that is something you need, but for rocking out in our basement practices, it is perfect. It sounds so much cleaner than the amp we were using before. The Bluetooth connectivity and independent mixing also allows it to be used for karaoke, which is fun. At the price, it is a no-brainer. It could certainly be used for live performance in smaller venues. I haven't tried it outside to see how it cuts through. I think it would probably depend on the style of music and other factors. But for our purposes, I couldn't be happier. ... show more

  • Probably the best speaker out there for the price
I bought this for my music classes and concerts. Great item. I returned 2 other brands for being crap. This one has worked perfectly. Great sound, lots of power to fill up an auditorium. Bluetooth very reliable. Needed to contact tech with a question and they responded the next day. I have nothing but good things to say about this speaker. Great choice! ... show more

  • Best Multipurpose Amplified Portable PA/Music Speaker In Its Class
I've tried a few of these portable AC-powered portable PA/monitor/music speakers with built-in amplifiers and near as I can tell, this is the best one in it's price-range/class. QUALITY: Right out of the box it looks nice. There's something about the fit & finish, and the layout of the controls, the design of the enclosure, even the packaging that communicates good quality. Everything is crisp. The lettering, the definition of the angles of the enclosure, everything is nice and clean and feels high quality. LOOKS: The front of the speaker has a very nice, back-illuminated logo. ENCLOSURE: The speaker has a handle built-into the design of the enclosure on the top to carry the speaker by, but the speaker vents on the sides (or top & bottom if using the speaker horizontally) are also handles. Horizontally is how I will primarily be orienting the speaker, and when set on a flat surface the speaker's face is angled up slightly, the same angle as a floor monitor. Perfect. The control panel, which is on the rear of the speaker, is well laid out. The speaker is fairly heavy. I attribute this to good quality internals, big magnets on the speakers, lots of heavy capacitors, etc., rather than the manufacturer just adding weight-plates to make it feel heavy & substantial. SOUND & POWER: The sound is average, typical for speakers of this type. It includes bass & treble controls, along with the standard volume and pre-amp gain controls, and they work quite well. The manufacturer advertises 100 watts RMS. I think that figure is optimistic. During testing the most I could get it to pull at peak was about 70 watts. That translates to somewhere near 35 watts of output. There is an LED indicator on the control panel on the rear which illuminates if the amplifier detects clipping (distortion caused by overloading the amplifier components). It never lit while I was using it. My power figure estimate is based on this being a class AB amp (why they didn't go with a class D I can only guess) and average Class AB amp efficiency is ~ 50%. The manufacturer claims 102db @ 1watt/1meter. That is a pretty efficient rating (it's a rating of the speaker, not the amplifier). I was able to get the speaker to put abut 110db @ 1w/1m. Maybe it could do more with the right audio source CONCLUSION: This speaker is much better, I figure twice as good, as the similar speaker from it's nearest rival, a firm whose name rhymes with mile. For the money it seems like quite a piece of hardware. When you consider the cost of portable Bluetooth speakers (this speaker supports Bluetooth, SD card, RCA line in, 3.5mm line in, USB, XLR, & 1/4" inputs. It even has an FM radio.), this is a lot of speaker with a lot of capabilities. Considering it has a 10" woofer with separate tweeter and the various functions (albeit without battery power), this is quite a lot of hardware for the money. This speaker comes with a remote control and supports XLR line-level output. Good looks, good quality, good performance, good sound, good feature set, and easy to use, this speaker is a smart choice. ... show more

  • Big Bang on a Budget
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Great speaker with tons of input options! Sonically, this speaker sounds great on the high, mid, and low end. Packs a lot of punch and doesn’t disappoint! For a budget speaker, it presents itself with a large sound that’s clean and plenty powerful. With a built in equalizer, you can tone it to your desired sound. It also has a clipping indicator so you can adjust it, making sure to not damage the speaker. With a background in music, both studio recording and live performances, this is a well built, durable speaker that’s loud, powerful, and will perform well in a medium sized venue by itself. ... show more

  • they’re pretty loud for 100 RMS 10” speakers
They’re pretty loud for 100 RMS 10” speakers, but sound okay. Factory must not have burned them in because mine smelled like burning electronics and plastic for a bit at first even without hitting the clipping indicator. Box resonates mid bass and vocals a bit, can feel the whole enclosure vibrate and flex. It also has a fair bit of rear projection wash sound so wouldn’t be ideal if you need directionality. Sub bass of course is lacking, I run mine with a 15 sub but wanted to test it alone and see if it would fail. Knobs also seem sort of weak. Very little self noise when powered up, happy to use in my studio if needed. Sounds good with a powered 15” sub after a bit of EQ and throws a lot farther than I thought it would. The power cord is stupidly short. Sides too curved to use reliably as floor wedge monitor but seems like it could maybe keep up with a combo guitar amp and a drum kit. Running to clipping for a while the plate doesn’t get as hot as my car trunk amp also by Rockville that’s been abused for a few years and still holds fine. Also whoever tuned the bass ports on these did a pretty good job, the cone excursion is really well controlled even when running full range and not highpassed for a sub. Edit 2: after a couple months of abuse still sounds fine. Ran it in the hot sun for a weekend party pulsing the clipping meter steadily, and despite getting wickedly hot it’s been fine and even kicked around. I don’t have an SPL meter but at full volume it’s way too loud to approach with your ears open and it hasn’t begun distorting too badly yet. Also I like that unlike my Samson monitor, the Bluetooth doesn’t turn on by default when you power it on. It benefits from a maximizer like the BBE Sonic Maximizer which clears up the sound at full volume nicely and doesn’t need much EQ that way. ... show more

  • Speaker is not as good as advertised
We previously bought the Rockville Power GIG RPG-152K (2) 15" karaoke system. These speakers were very impressive a we loved our system. However after only (1) year the power speaker started smoking and is not unusable. We tried to get just ONE power speaker to replace the old one. You cannot. You must buy the whole system again. So we thought we would try this one. We knew it would not be as powerful as our old one since it was smaller and less watts. But it was not a good speaker. It was so soft you had to turn it up full blast and when you did that it just started making a buzzing sound through the speaker. So no harm, I'll just return it and get the larger one. Ha to ship it back cost me $40 and then they took out a $10 re-stocking fee on top of it. So for a $99.00 speaker I lost $50 returning it. So I didn't want to take the chance again that I wouldn't like the larger speaker so we went to Best Buy where I would be able to return it at the store if I didn't like the sound. So far the one we got from Best Buy is working great and sounds awesome. Sorry, but your return policy on this speaker, sucked. ... show more
