What this device allows you to do is monitor your water heater remotely and crucially activate the circulation pump manually. This allows you to have hot water without having to drain all of the cold water in the line. It save both water and energy while giving you a better experience. Prior to installing this, the water heater circulation pump would run on auto. That sounds nice but there are two issues with this First is it wastes a lot of energy heating and running hot water when you don't need it. The second is it doesn't always provide hot water when you want it. After a weeks vacation, the circulation stopped working and hasn't worked in almost a month while it re-learns our routine. With this module, we can hit a button and get hot water instantly. I couldn't find the button on Amazon so ordered it elsewhere. You can use your phone app although it's nice to locate the button near places where you want hot water like showers or in the kitchen. It's very easy to install. You have to open your water heater. There is a small opening at the bottom to run the cable and you mount the wifi control module outside of the water heater. I attached it to a wall nearby. I recommend changing the circulation pump setting to manual and comfort mode. When you want to use hot water, hit the button. Depending on the distance it takes a few seconds to a couple of minutes. The pump will stay on for 5 minutes. When you turn on the tap and the water will be almost instantly hot. Great for showers, laundry and washing dishes. ... show more

this is incredibly easy to install, the app is basic but fine, and now I don't have to go to my attic to start recirculation or increase the max hot water temp for a short while. If I have little kids over it is super simple to turn down the max water temp from the app. Silly easy to install. Really :) ... show more

    • Better than the Control-R
Much better than the old Control-R unit. It connected in seconds and I was able to get connected in just a few more minutes by simply cycling my Android's power. Still think that Rinnai has a high school class writing their code as clunky as it performs but it's working and that's all I need.

    • Wifi control?
The module itself is very easy to install and connect to WiFi however its functionality is misleading. It states you can adjust the temperature of the heater and there’s buttons that can be synced to the module but No where does it show you how to do this. So until I figure out how to sync and be able to control the temperature will it be of any use to me ... show more
