My initial experience with this product was poor, as editorialized below. However, within a day of posting this review I received an email from Ring customer support. The service representative, Ryan (great guy!) walked me through some steps to see if we could get these lights to reboot and do what they were supposed to do, but after doing everything we could, the lights just didn't want to cooperate. Ryan then sent me two brand new lights, and they both work BEAUTIFULLY! They have been holding their charge for over a week now, recharging via solar during the day. They are very bright at night and do a great job of illuminating the area where I placed them. Best of all is the customer service I received from Ring. As I said, Ryan was absolutely great and did everything he could to resolve my issue. Add to that, I received another email from Alexis to follow up while Ryan was out. Great tag team work there! Products will fail from time to time and that's to be expected. I never expect a failure in customer service, though, and Ring did not disappoint. Top notch customer service and complaint resolution! Thank you, Ring! I love the brightness of this light and how easy it is to install, plus the fact that you can add an additional solar panel to it if you want more charging capabilities. However, you have to have the light in full sun during the day to completely recharge the batteries. If you have it set up in even partially shaded area the batteries will not fully recharge. In order to address this I purchased an additional solar panel, which IS in full sun for the entire day, but I still don't get a full charge on the batteries by nightfall. In addition to that, the battery life is horrible. I do not have the light on all night. It is set up to light up when it detects motion and to turn off after 3 minutes. The motion isn't activated that often, so there's really no reason for the battery to be drained in the morning. I'm also perplexed as to why they chose to go with these wimpy batteries when the batteries for the spotlight cams have such great battery life and can be pulled and replaced with a freshly charged battery. If I want to recharge the battery quickly I have to pull the whole assembly from the fence to recharge inside. I regret this purchase completely and I'm very disappointed in Ring. This is the first thumbs down review I've given on any of their products.

If you are already a Ring Bridge user for lighting control this product is a no brainer. I have it on the back of my house to light up a small lawn. Works great. I wanted something to provide light on the lawn but nothing too bright such as a RIng Spotlight or Floodlight cam. It is just this light and a couple Ring Pathway lights and it is a good amount of light for my lawn to walk around. I didn't even bother to precharge it with a USB. I just installed it, batteries started with about 45%. It gains about 15-20% charge a day with the built in solar panel with 3-4 hours of direct sun, after 2 days it is already near 80% charge so I don't think I will ever need to take it down and usb charge it. I have it on motion control and it uses about 1-5% in the evening depending on how much motion it detects. Like other Ring lights the motion detection on this can be used to supplement motion detection on Ring cameras. Install is a simple bracket with 2 screws and the light then just slides onto the bracket. It's too new to speak on durability but so far it is a perfect solution for what I needed at a reasonable price.

5/14/24 Updated Review from 2 stars to 5 stars: Yesterday and again today I had a Ring Executive Resolution Specialists (Zugei) reach out to me to see what she could do to help resolve my issue after reading this original review. I was shocked to get the first call, and she left a voicemail that I did not get a chance to return yet due to scheduling conflicts and then today while at work I got the second call from her. I was very impressed by Ring’s follow-up. My issue was caused by Amazon’s return practices from another customer but Ring seemed to really care about taking care of my issue and offered up recommendations. As a result I have updated this review and will continue to use Ring products going forward. Keep up the good work Ring (Zugei)!! It looks like Amazon’s product return team can learn from Ring. :0) Original review Received this unit and you could tell it was already used. The rechargeable batteries were already exposed since the paper that is usually between them was missing, the USB cable and screws were missing as well. How do I get a discount on a used product before returning it?

EDIT: Ring reached out to me after I wrote the review below and after some very extensive trouble shooting including a factory reset and a forced firmware update, we were able to get the device working properly and it now does what I need - it detects my dogs in the yard and stays lit. It’s quite bright. My only minor issue now is that the solar panel is having trouble keeping it charged, probably because I live in Pittsburgh which is not known for its sunny weather. I don’t mind bringing it in and charging it every once in a while and I imagine it will do fine when the days are longer come summer. Original review: I bought this so I could see my dogs when they go outside after dark. It simply doesn’t work - it detects motion but won’t turn on unless paired with my ring doorbell. When I paired it with the doorbell, it won’t turn on for longer than a minute after the doorbell detects motion no matter how many times I adjust the settings to try and keep it on for for longer. Even if I manually turn it on with the 15 minute setting, it still turns off after one minute. My dogs aren’t such overachievers as to reliably do their business in 60 seconds or less, so I’ll be looking for other options to light their potty zone.

I have this mounted on the SE side of my house where it gets probably half a day's worth of sunlight. I have it set to stay on for 30 seconds when motion is detected at 3rd lowest brightness setting and all other settings are default. *solar charges really well, even noticed on a completely overcast day it went up about 4% in charge (desert environment, late Fall at time of writing this review) *easy to install *wireless bridge connection range is good *granular configuration/controls available (specifically very good range for desired brightness levels) *overall easy to set up like any other Ring product I need like 10 more of these things! Hope it holds up over time in general.

This solar wall light just didn't work out for me. I placed this light in my driveway and have it linked to my Ring Stick Up cam. My Ring Stick Up cam is placed next to the garage door. Sometime my Stick Up cam motion detection, especially at night doesn't have the range I wanted to pick up motion detection so I invested in this light hoping to catch the motion before my camera can see it. It just does work and here is why: - When the light detects motion, my camera which is linked to the light will start recording for 60sec always (too long), regardless if motion has ended, this waste battery on my camera. If I use only the camera, it detects motion and records but then stop when motion is no longer detected, so the recording can be 15 seconds if the motion stops. - When my camera is recording video that is linked from the light motion and I have walk closer to my camera where it can be detected, I don't get motion notification from my camera even when it is turn on in the app. Why is that? Why can't I get a notification from my light group as well as from my camera? Why have this limitation? If I wanted to not have notification on my camera, I would have turn it off. The light group doesn't have a theme sound like the camera does, it uses the iPhone basic notification sound. My main purpose is to have the notification turn off on my light group and have my camera notification on. That way when motion is detected on the light group, my linked camera starts recording and then let my camera notifies me using one of it theme sound which I liked. It doesn't work this way, with this setup, I don't get any notification. - The light motion detection doesn't have 'people only' mode like my Ring camera. Which means that anything it detects I get a notification, very annoying and too much to handle. Example: when the light is use in the driveway, my car and my wife car goes in and out all the time, I don't want to get notified and I don't want my camera to record because it is linked to the light motion, which waste battery. When it's only my camera is used and is set to 'people only', it will not detect motion because it is a car and not a person. - The light is not as bright as I thought (800 lumens) is not very bright for a driveway. My floodlight (1350 lumens) just over powered it as far as brightness so I can't really tell if the light is even on. - It is a bit pricey for a light and required the Ring Bridge to operate, you can't use it w/o it. - It's a bit heavy, but it does feel sturdy and well made. - It tends to drain the battery pretty fast, I had it on for about 3 min and it drain 3% of the battery. Basically, down 1% every minute. - I can't seem to charge the battery with the included USB to full capacity, it goes to 91% and tells me battery is full when light is not flashing. And it takes 8 hours to charge. - I can use it so it doesn't send me notification or link it with my camera to record, but that defeats the purpose of having a smart light. There are much more cheaper options out there for this. It may work for others but for what I need, it just doesn't do it for me.

They connect super easy. I have this light over my grill outside by the shed were it is pitch black at night and by the garage where the trash cans are stored. I wish Ring would hurry up with my order!

Overall this product just doesn’t work well. I had to get a second unit and it had the same problem as the first unit the batteries would not hold a charge. Charging is kind of mysterious in the app updates whenever it feels like it so you never exactly know how your batteries are doing there’s always a lag time. Not enough sun to charge this in winter. So Amazon will want you to buy a solar panel for $60 or a plug-in charger for $40 I thought that was ridiculous after paying for the item itself and it doesn’t work. I finally wired in a micro USB cord and tape together my own panel on the back and reinstall the thing on the roof so i dont have to keep taking it down. The brightness is great but the batteries are a major problem with all of the ring devices I have bought probably a total of 10 now it seems like I replaced one to three batteries every day and really it’s a joke these things are just not ready to be run by batteries this includes the cameras and the path lights. Also batteries will show something like 4050% and then drop to critical and then turn off at night when it gets cold so I don’t know what can be 60% in the daytime even with the temperature drop I don’t need my lights going out in the middle of the night I need accurate information. Overall this light has been a total pain in the arse. It’s super bright and the fact that it works remotely off the app is the best part. EDIT: 1/29/23 This light is a hassle compared to the entire rest of the ring family. Its currently disconnected or unresponsive, at night, when I need it. Continually dissapoints, getting worse
