We are new bee keepers and bought the Bee Castle 8 Frame Bee Hive Complete Kit, 100% Beeswax Coated Bee Hive to get us started. I have several reviews for Bee Castle based on our purchases. The wood is solid, the joints are tight and the overall quality is great. The assembly was challenging on the first build but afterwards we are able to get it completed in about 30 minutes. The only issue I have with Bee Castle is the products are from China. I have friends in forestry and manufacturing industries in the US and Canada that would love to see this quality of products made at home.

Easy to assemble. I used a rubber mallet to drive in the dovetails. All the needed wood screws were provided. All the joints were tight and strong. The written instructions were reasonable, but there is a video instruction referenced on the provided documentation. I was a bit surprised there was not a groove on the sides of frame to hold the plastic panels but I think the panels themselves are pretty sturdy and the top and bottom grooves should suffice. Its an attractive box at first but I'm sure a year in the weather will change that. I'm already wondering how I'm going to paint it with the wax coating its deliver with. Its a small hive, only 8 frames, which is fine for me as I'm only trying to provide some relief for the wild bee hives already in my yard but it wont be spring before I know if the bees will take to this hive. Once can always stack on a brood or/and super box to it. The metal roof is a nice touch, maintenance free from water damage.

Wax is coming off mid summer. May have been my hive only. Very responsive customer service! Made sure I was satisfied. Ensure you keep your hive elevated and on a stand!
