Absolutely perfect for a custom inlay. I am planning on making a new wedding band and am going to put a wood inlay on this ring. It is tungsten which will be much more durable than my previous wedding band. Additionally the channel for the inlay is perfect, it is perfectly flat with high walls and the base is burnished to have proper adhesion for the ring to the wood. I was able to inlay some deer antler. Not bad for my first try. As long as you're careful, you can avoid scratching the black coating. I even put a layer of CA glue on it while i was working on the shape to help not scratching it (I did it without a lathe). I'll definitely buy another! I've purchased plenty of ring cores for my lathe in the past, and own several ring sizing kits. The ring I ordered was an 8.5, the packaging said it was an 8.5, however the ring itself measures between 7.5 - 8.0, making it off by enough that it can't be worn by someone needing an 8.5. That said, the quality seems good, the threading doesn't bind or have trouble starting, and the two pieces look to be good enough quality to make a decent ring. ... show more
