  • Easy to use and increase humidity
Color: 4LB
Still trying to figure everything out. I got this along with some moss to make a different substrate for my bearded dragon. You start by soaking them in dechlorinated water, then add them to the tank. I think just walking on them alone would be a bit tricky, since it would be a very bumpy substrate -- that is why I put the moss on top. For the most part, my beardie tries to avoid pooping in his tank, but he did so a few days ago. Not sure the best way to clean stuff up with this substrate, honestly -- although it seems some of the poop was more or less absorbed. I ended up throwing out some of the pellets -- now I think I should have just washed them. Certainly this makes it trickier to clean up than when everything is just flat, but this is a far more interesting substrate. The tank looks much better, more natural. I have also been just pouring water into the bottom of the tank, but not enough to cover the pellets. That way there is humidity without swampiness. My beardie can still move around without getting wet. That said, he pretty much always sits in his hammock, but I still like that I can increase the humidity. Even though I haven't figured out all the tricks, I still recommend this. ... show more

  • Easy to work with, quality clay balls
Color: 4LB
These clay balls come in different sizes and are easy to work with. I usually dump the whole bag into containers and I didn't notice too much dust in the bin or the bag, so that was a good sign. I've already soaked and used these clay balls for my a few of my plants. The different sizes filled the gaps and spaces quite well. They are much easier and less messy to work with than soil. My planter also don't weigh as much either. I've used these with several glass vases and I was confident seeing that the soaking and rinsing didn't leave much debris in the vases, aside from the fertilizer i added that may have clouded the wayer a bit. I am also excited that these clay balls and glass vase allowed me to see the roots for their development (or potential root rot). These clay balls may actually become my permanent solution beside using them for propagation. I'm so glad i may not have to get bags of soil, compost, barks, perlite, etc. To make my own mix. I think I'm getting a hang of the semi hydroponic system and not have to clean up the mess! I may consider purchasing the 10 lb bag when I'm out to get the best value. ... show more

  • Lots of Clay Balls!
Color: 4LB
I had been wanting some clay balls to use in my indoor plant pots to improve drainage, so I was glad to find this product. This generous 4-lb. bag will supply enough to repot my dozen or so plants, from a couple of Christmas cactus shoots to a small coffee tree. The clay balls are exactly as expected, and don't seem to contain any extraneous material or other weird stuff. I'm confident that they'll work well for my plants, and would definitely order more when I run out. ... show more

  • Excellent Substrate
Color: 4LB
I am a huge fan of growing hydroponically and semi-hydroponically and this LECA is as good as any other. I do like the bigger sized balls, so it is better for your established plants, not so much for seedlings, depending of course on what you are growing. I found this bag of expanded clay less dusty than most, so there is another plus. I recommend. ... show more

  • They're okay
Color: 10LB
The color of the clay pebbles look a lot darker and smaller than the pictures show. Overall they seem okay. First time buying and using clay pebbles. So can't really compare them to anything else.

  • Great
Color: 4LB
I use these for a mixed substrate for my smaller plants when propagating and rooting to allow more airflow thru the soil and prevent over watering/rot. They’re a nice quality and decent sized pack. I’m not one to use entirely LECA for potting plants, but if I did these would be good for it. These are also nice to put in the bottom of DIY moss poles to not have the moss going all the way to the bottom, which can create rot, but having the clay beads at the bottom provides needed weight and stability at the bottoms of the poles that’s necessary to not end up with a moss pole toppling over. Overall these are great multi use clay beads for many projects ... show more

  • Great for Plants or Terrariums
Color: 4LB
These are simple to use - just rinse them off before using for plants or as a drainage layer for amphibians/reptiles. I use these for all of my bioactive set-ups and will certainly purchase again.

  • Fantastic as a drainage layer in terrariums!
Color: 4LB
This as a drainage layer is honestly perfect. The expanded clay is incredibly light, so your terrariums won't weigh a ton, and they are great at keeping excess moisture in check. Can also use them as a substrate for epiphytes, and they love it.
