I got this for my husband to use with his paints. He paints Warhammer miniature figures. He uses this the whole time he is painting, multiple days a week. When he does, I hear the buzz of it continuously. It is not very loud, so it is not annoying. The suction cups are strong, though sometime the mixer may slide bit across the fact surface is you much too hard. It mixes the paints effectively and spares aching wrists and fingers. The only negative (slight) that I've noticed is that sometimes it does not turn off immediately when he lifts the paint jar, and he has to put the jr on and off a few times to get it to turn off. Not always, just sometimes.

2024.03.06 EDIT: While my opinion on the mixer hasn't changed, the seller has been very communicative at trying to solve problems and putting in a lot of effort to work with me. Bumping to 4/5 stars for the customer service. Original review: This mixer was significantly less powerful than I anticipated. For example, if you have a pot of citadel paint that has separated, this will not mix it to a usable consistency (even with the added metal balls). It’s fine for stirring up a pot of paint that’s 60% there already, but still quite disappointing. Additionally, this was suctioned to a glass top desk, and the vibrations made it walk easily.

I keep this on my painting/crafting desk and use it before opening any bottles now. It's small and compact. Noise is tolerable and not too bad. Hold your paint lids, especially if you're using pots. I imagine the vibration could shake something open. I've not tried the metal mixing balls that came with this one. I'm waiting to test on a paint I don't like so much. I've had experiences with some metal balls rusting in the past. Be aware that the container holding the metal balls is flimsy and will likely break open before you even get the box. I had to pour them out of the box when I opened it.

For the longest time I thought these things were a meme, but after actually using this one I cannot believe I put off trying them out. This is the best $35 you can put towards your painting kit if you are even remotely serious about miniature painting long term. I used this to help revive all my Citadel paints that dried out because of the awful consumer unfriendly pots Games Workshop uses and it saved me quite literally about 30 hours of shaking. I do not believe I could have saved my paints without this.

For how much it cost i am pleased with how it performs. just keep in mind the shape of your paint bottle and how you are holding it as it mixes. ive found it more effective holding it upside down while keeping a firm grip on the lid and letting the body of the paint bottle shake as much as possible.

Purchased to mix acrylic hobby paints, I've been very disappointed by the performance of the unit. I never achieve a good mix with psints that have settled. This was purchased as part of a Christmas gift and wasn't used for the first time until this past week. I would have returned this if I could have. It "does" work, but not very well at all. I DO NOT recommend this to anyone for mixing hobby paints.
