Liked the looks, quality and price. Hauled a large bed frame head/footboard that wouldn’t fit in the truck bed From AZ to WA (1700 miles) without any issues. Plus was rear ended in OR destroying our camp trailer and it all held tight. Drove many miles with high winds and rain no leaks detected inside camper shell. I would say it is extremely sturdy. It’s a little noisy but not excessive and that can be reduced by removing the cross bars when not in use. Removing them is the only major drawback, the squeeze mechanism to release each side of the bar is extremely stiff making it a real struggle to do. Plus lots of plastic parts in the release/ looking mechanism so don’t want to use a lot of force to remove. Lots of thought and engineering went into producing them and lots of thought went into installing them, had a mechanically minded friends help. Read all the directions, check for all the parts some are tucked inside the cross bar tubes. We pre-assembled the whole unit then carefully placed it on top of the camper and adjusted it from there. We were careful to hit the single wall outer edge of the camper as there was a double walled center section for structural integrity of the shell. The supplied bolts wouldn’t have been long enough and not sure of any compression issues associated with the double wall. All done before we drilled a single hole. Pain in the butt to install, cheezy fastening system, fiddly mounts, cheap plastic everything other than the cross bars and track.. For what this costs I'd have expected much higher quality. But it eventually got installed, took 2 people about an hour to do, and it carried the load I needed, the damn plastic end caps with the plastic locks seem to want to work themselves out of the cross bars, the attachment system wtih the cheezy plastic key to lock them in place, yeah, cheap crap, but like I said, I needed it, I fussed with the install and got it on, but I wouldn't buy this again, it's worth about half of what I paid.. But again, I needed it, they were selling it, I used it and it worked. ... show more

    • Quality engineered product, but missing parts and guide

EDIT: After dealing with some QC and a little bit of customer service issues, I found everything necessary for this product. Very happy with the final results. You'll need to be very "handy" to make it work. The product is very well designed. I feel comfortable leaving it on my roof with the safeguards designed. The installation could have been fairly easy (with 2 people, will take several hours with 1) if I was sent all the parts necessary with a guide on how to install. YouTube, unfortunately, was my only solution in which I had to figure out the process piecemeal. The paper guide that was sent with the product was for the wrong product and left me with a parts list that was misleading. If you get all the right parts and know how to set up this product already, I highly recommend. Otherwise, you might also be left fairly disappointed by the comprehensive customer experience. ... show more

    • Screams like a banshee; installation issues
Size: Vortex Bars 59" with Tracks Color: Black
Installing on my fiberglass truck cap was an adventure -- the nuts that are meant to be "finger tight" on the inside are equipped with these big plastic wingnut things. Getting them finger tight is NOT possible because the nuts have nylock insert and will not turn without mechanical leverage unless you have hands like The Hulk maybe, so you end up using pliers or a giant adjustable wrench just to get the things flush up against the roof of the cap. And then the plastic wingnut washer, of course, strips out and then you can't really snug up the thing, and are left to your own devices with a socket wrench and some good old fashioned steel washers, after having to remove the now-useless plastic washer with a mini hacksaw or sawzall and a ton of cursing. And no I did not over-tighten, just had 2 out of 10 of the plastic wingnuts strip out as I was turning them to try and get snug. Now installed, and since they are back on the truck cap I don't hear it unless I am going under a bridge, but over 50MPH they make a high-pitched whistling at about 10K Hertz that I am sure is a great annoyance to anyone I am passing by, especially dogs. Hopefully it will help alert deer and moose to my approach and get them to clear off the road miles ahead of me. And adjusting these for front/back spacing is a giant pain, you basically have to entirely remove them from the tracks and re-position the bases, and the provided anti-theft hex bolts have a little pin in the center so you can't use them with a regular hex key, and the tiny fsking key they include BARELY FITS into the bolt's head, once again resisting your attempts to get the bolts good and snug, and risking stripping out the bolt head. Then, the locking pins in the mounts are stubborn and don't want to snap in unless things are perfectly aligned. Again, if your kids are nearby while you do this, they will learn all your best curse words. Other than that, they look pretty cool and do a good job holding my kayaks and surfboards and stuff without any issues. ... show more

Looks great and is relatively sturdy feeling. Doesnt feel cheap. It was missing 2 of the 4 track legs so I could only attach 1 of the cross bars. Got ahold of the supplier immediately and they’re sending them in currently.
