This device for me is easily 4.6/5 stars. My only dislikes are the Anbernic AI software (can be disabled), the inline shoulder buttons and fan noise. But stack the shoulder buttons and this is a 5/5. This is capable to play a lot of your indie steam titles (using apps like Gamehub, Gamehub Lite, Winlator or Game Native) and you have Steam games. It won't play triple A titles but pixel art and lite weight has good compatibility, the amount of backlog clearing this is capable of is amazing. The screen is excellent and the build is easily 10/10, the shoulder button are a little too loud for me but the rest of the controls are nice. It has a great dpad. To top it off, the fact it comes with a case and screen protector out of the box is a major plus. The CPU is strong enough to run up to PS2 and GC easily.

It is an awesome device. Very powerfull and a lot of fun. The build quality is also top knotch. Since it runs Andriod 14 you can run anything on it. You can also install Homerun and watch TV/DVR. Tested using a USBC to HDMI to my TV and the picture is excellent. The cable passes sound and video. Works great with bluetooth headphones and bluetooth controllers. Battery seems to support fast charging and last a long time on a charge.

Every ps2 game thrown at it has played magnificently. Retroarch is simply a nightmare and can be quite daunting. Steep learning curve. The unit itself feels solid and well made. Im a little concerned because there is a faint line in the screen that never goes away but its minor.

This is probably the most powerful handheld I've ever used, N64, Naomi, Sega Saturn, GameCube and Wii all work phenomenally on it. There is a little set up required, and you gotta get your own games. I'm very pleased with it so far. The fan is a little loud, but not a problem for me personally.

Prior to this one, I have used a very similar Anbernic 405M and I didn't like it quite much due to its mediocre performance. IMO, 405M was compromised over its specs; Despite having a heavy body, the processor on 405M just wasn't powerful enough to play 2000's titles. There were far many better options than 405M and the aluminum body alone couldn't justify its price. Two year and 6 months later, Anbernic has come back with this RG477M, offering the same 4:3 aspect ratio as 405M, but with a 4.7 inch, 120hz big bright display and a more powerful processor that's capable enough to drive more modern retro titles. I can't emphasize enough how important it is to play under the "correct" aspect ratio. Although, there are games (e.g. Resident Evil 4) support both 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios, they are far less common. The majority of the retro titles support only near 4:3 aspect ratio and widescreen hack isn't always available to them. Anbernic understood this requirement well, not only by making the handheld 4:3 but also by raising the display’s refresh rate to 120 Hz, making BFI feasible for the first time on lower-end handheld devices. In this perspective, RG477M doesn't really have any competitors--it is the only handheld device on the market (including the upcoming ones) that supports this feature.
