  • An absolute premium powerhouse for retro and modern gaming
Style: RG477M Sliver-NEW
Edit: A note that I forgot to touch on, but my initial unit had a hair between the screen and the frame, strangely enough. I'm unsure if it was a random fluke or a QC issue, but it's something of importance to note. Thankfully, I got a replacement in no time. The RG477M is premium is every way possible. To preface the review, I've owned several handhelds of varying power. This one is, without a doubt, the most premium feeling handheld that I've ever used and is absolute worth the purchase. The display is phenomenal. It's very vibrant and clear. It's 4:3 which is perfect for Gamecube/PS2 and below. While it's not an OLED panel, I find myself not really minding. It's a fantastic screen, probably one of the best non-OLED panels I've seen on these handhelds. The performance is incredible. The Mediatek chip in this is easily able to handle 2-3x resolution on PS2 and Gamecube with absolute ease. I was even able to use Gamehub to install some of my Steam games and that worked fantastically. It's been great with everything I've thrown at it so far. Battery life is great. I was able to play an N64 game for over 6 hours straight without issue. More powerful games will probably drop that down to ~3 hours, but thankfully it charges very quickly. The feel itself is beyond measure. The face buttons feel fantastic, the DPAD is wonderfully balanced and not too stiff nor mushy. The sticks feel great and don't stick out too much. I wouldn't recommend putting this in your pocket without a case because of the sticks, but otherwise it's very portable. The heat on it isn't too bad either. You can definitely feel it heat up, but it doesn't get too hot that it bothers me. Overall, while this is an expensive device, it nails everything that it tries to do. It plays pretty much anything you throw at it, the aluminum shell feels amazing in your hands, and the display and feel of the device is incredible. If you want a powerful handheld and don't mind spending the extra cash on a metal shell, this is a no brainer. This is one for the best handhelds Anbernic has released without a doubt and I couldn't recommend it more. ... show more

  • Excellent Retro handheld-outstanding power and build Excellent Retro handheld-outstanding power and build
Style: RG477M Copper-NEW
This device for me is easily 4.6/5 stars. My only dislikes are the Anbernic AI software (can be disabled), the inline shoulder buttons and fan noise. But stack the shoulder buttons and this is a 5/5. This is capable to play a lot of your indie steam titles (using apps like Gamehub, Gamehub Lite, Winlator or Game Native) and you have Steam games. It won't play triple A titles but pixel art and lite weight has good compatibility, the amount of backlog clearing this is capable of is amazing. The screen is excellent and the build is easily 10/10, the shoulder button are a little too loud for me but the rest of the controls are nice. It has a great dpad. To top it off, the fact it comes with a case and screen protector out of the box is a major plus. The CPU is strong enough to run up to PS2 and GC easily. ... show more

  • Incorrect unit described in listing.
Style: RG477V Gray-NEW
The item is fine and I would recommend it for anyone looking to emulate games, except that the seller originally was listing the 12/256gb model as the one that would be shipped, but they sent me the 8gb/128gb model instead. Now their listing correctly describes it as the 8/128gb model, but that doesn't help me since I already ordered it. I guess it's going back. ... show more

  • Worth it!
Style: RG477M Copper-NEW
It is an awesome device. Very powerfull and a lot of fun. The build quality is also top knotch. Since it runs Andriod 14 you can run anything on it. You can also install Homerun and watch TV/DVR. Tested using a USBC to HDMI to my TV and the picture is excellent. The cable passes sound and video. Works great with bluetooth headphones and bluetooth controllers. Battery seems to support fast charging and last a long time on a charge. ... show more

  • Very nice....
Style: RG477M Copper-NEW
Very solid product... Yes it is a bit heavy but heavy does mean well built. Haven't used any the game emulator apps yet(complicated). No games are included so buyer beware. Worth the money though.

  • Right Direction with device
Style: RG477M Sliver-NEW
The device is good and runs most games well all the way up to PS2, 3DS and maybe some Wii games. The size is perfect but it’s a bit on the heavier side. For me, at least where it didn’t shine, is when playing custom Doom wads. The android apps to play those types of games aren’t there. On windows and iOS, you have pretty good software to run custom Doom games. Another thing that makes the handheld not that good, is the difficulty in transferring files from the micro sd card, to the on board storage. Since it’s android, there shouldn’t be no difficulty at all in doing such a simple function, but alas, it was impossible. With the RG477m, Anbernic is going in the right direction. The device has minor imperfections, mostly pertaining to software. A Linux version of this device would be something nice to see, maybe something running Batocera ... show more

  • A great and worthy unit without that trash Unisoc t820 or lower
Style: RG477V Black-NEW
The dimensity 8300 is 1 tier below flagship chip that's why it performs as a flagship chip, it's a beast let's just face facts. Testers will tell you that god of war on ps2 is a perfect benchmark to test ps2 performance, it's not. You really want to know what games are the benchmark that you can test? The hardest ps2 games to emulate which are valkyrie profile 2 and Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII. Valkyrie profile 2 performance is actually phenomenal and you can upscale 2x. Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII is a different story needing an underclock of at least 50 and undervolt of (3),it also plays well with the software renderer and a scanline shader. The battery life is decent... Could be better but it is a space factor I'm sure, I get 4 to 5 hours on light games but 3 on heavy emulation... Your mileage may vary due to processors being same name but different in behavior during the manufacturing process, not all chips are equal. If you see a reviewer testing god of war and telling you that it performs well tell them to test valkyrie profile 2 and Dirge of Cerberus final fantasy VII. Here are indicators of performance if you want any handheld in the future : in valkyrie profile 2 if the game moves slow... And I do mean slow motion then it's not going to get better and your handheld isn't powerful. In Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII if your gameplay moves slow motion as well but this time it stutters on top of being slow it's not going to get better no matter what you do and that goes for both games, your handheld isn't as powerful as you thought. Let's talk about controls... It's a little cramped but not much, by nature of the handheld being a vertical control are going to be cramped but this unit is much wider then the 406v a friend of mine has so you'll be fine I just wish the bumper and trigger buttons were in swapped positions but that's a nitpick I have and doesn't affect gameplay at all. ... show more
