I know this to be a decent brand, and I've actually tried out some of their other scanners. For the most part, their other scanners are really good. I don't know if this is just a hit on this model, but it's been really hard getting anything usable out of this, if I'm being honest. I've used 3D scanners for years, so I'm pretty familiar with how to get it to track well and how to get them to give you an output that is actually desirable. I think the real issue with this is their Mac support. It just drops out scanning every few minutes. It has a lot of trouble even connecting. They run a hardware diagnostic when you first start up your scanner, and everything was great on my end. I have a really powerful Mac. I plugged directly into the side of the device. A full USB 3 port. I had power running on my Mac, had power on their device. I closed everything down, made sure everything was up to date, made sure all the drivers were installed and the software is up to date. Try different ports on my computer try to unplugging everything on my computer. Just no matter what I did, it's just constantly dropping the connection all the time, so I'm not sure if the unit I got is bad, but as far as the software goes, I just am not impressed at all. I have yet to get a scan out of this that's actually usable. When it does scan, it seems like it's pretty good. But I only get like 30 to 60 seconds of scanning. I don't have a Windows machine that I can test on, so unfortunately in my case I'm pretty dead in the water with being able to use this device. I would say if you are on a Mac and you are looking to use this item, I would probably maybe wait a little bit until all the bugs are worked out. I left a two-star review, and I am going to keep checking back every month to see if the software has been updated and if they fix all my crashes so that way I can update my review. I would recommend just waiting a bit to see how things shake out because right now it just is not seen very compatible.

The revopoint Metro X Pro is a powerful tool for doing 3D modeling. Doing research to find the best options for 3D scanning tools without breaking the bank yet delivering superior quality led me to this brand as well as this particular scanner. The item came packaged well, and is also packed in a nice latching tote that keeps everything protected and organized. Everything you need for scanning large items to small items is in the tote. While this scanner seemed intimidating the unit is easy to set up and start using. The instructions tell you what software to download. Be mindful that there are minimum requirements for you PC or Mac to be able to run the software and scanner. If your machine does not have the minimum requirements you will be unable to use. Once you have the software and have hooked up the scanner via usb-c connection you can read through a tutorial on the basic uses. This will give you enough knowledge to get your first scan done. More advanced scanning and larger object will require more learning. After setting up for scanner and automatic rotating plate, I put a smaller model on the plate and began the scanning. Once the scanner is plugged in and hooked up to your system, it will automatically turn on, so don’t be confused if you hear the small air fan moving.start your scan in the software and before you know it you will have a brilliant scan of the object. The accuracy of the model is great but I’m sure with more fine tuning I will get better results learning between the full laser and full field mode. In terms of functionality I would recommend watching some videos online to get comfortable with the scanner before doing your first scan. This will take guess work out of the way and better usability for a novice user. The fact that the scanner can also deliver scans in full RGB is amazing for the price point. There as are many scanners that can cost two or three times the amount that will not deliver the same quality and function of this scanner. This is a professional level scanner that delivers professional level results.
