My wife and I used mostly for non-dairy milks (Soy, Flax, and Coconut). It didn't really froth these milks greatly. Soy yielded the best results. The frother got the milk nice and hot. Used 2-4 times a day for 6 months until it stopped working just last week. Used for caffe latte's, chai teas, and hot cocoa. While it was working, we really enjoyed it. It was super user-friendly and simple. Customarily, we would froth the milk, rinse it out with hot water then store it upside down in our kitchen sink strainer. If I had been more on top of thoroughly cleaning it after each use, it probably would have lasted longer. (I don't fault the company for this, nor does my star rating reflect my own personal negligence). The stir-tool in the center of the cup was magnetic and pulled out very easily for cleaning. The heater was at the base of the reservoir, so after a few days of use, there would be a layer of solidified, or caked-on milk that would collect on the bottom. After struggling to clean this effectively for a while, the successful formula that worked for me was to, once a week, soak it in vinegar, then scrape that caked milk off with the flathead end of a Tupperware orange peeler. I used this because the sharp edge was plastic and didn't damage the non-stick coating of the reservoir like a knife or spoon would. After the big chunks were shaved away, I would then take a toothbrush with a bent neck 90°, then use that to agitate/clean the bottom surface of the reservoir. Sounds tedious, but it was not bad. I already had the toothbrush in my arsenal. Then to clean the "frother" tool (spring looking device), I would soak in vinegar then take a toothbrush to it. Sometimes to soften up the caked-up milk at the bottom, I would run the frother with 1/4 vinegar in it to heat everything up...that seemed to help. Near the end of it working, the motor still seemed to make a noise, but the frother tool wasn't spinning. It was almost like a grinding gear sound. It was intermittent for the last couple months, until one day we never got it to spin again. Tossed it in the trash. I don't regret buying this, it was our first frother. I will probably buy another one of these eventually. In the meantime, I am going to try out a couple other brands in the price range. For $30 can't beat it. That's the price of 6 caramel macchiatos from Starbucks! ... show more

I have found that it makes a mess whether you have it filled to the max line or not so you have to keep an eye on it. But still worth the purchase since it is warming the milk while it is frothing :)

I loved this frother… for nearly two months! Then it simply stopped frothing. Still heats the milk but a real disappointment. Now I’m reading all the similar reviews and no easy way to contact the manufacturer. UPDATE: If I align the copper tab on the base with the on/off switch on the frother, it usually froths!! Maybe I missed that in the instructions?? but it's working again, at least for now. UPDATE: Working great now and for several weeks. I love this frothed and I’d give it 5 stars except for its unpredictable performance. ... show more

I love coffee with half coffee and half frothed milk, sort of like a cappuccino, but I hate having to clean the spout of a cappuccino maker. This makes great frothed milk and is so easy to use, with easy cleanup. Love this product!

You need to know that it does not turn off after frothing. If you do not t urn it off manually, the warmer will toggle on and off and "cook" the cream to the sides and bottom of the machine which makes for difficult cleaning. I turn mine on when I pour the water into my french press. I turn it off as soon as frothing ends. Cream separates from foam as I press my coffee. I use a knife to hold back the foam and get the cream into my cup of coffee then release the cream for a nice frothy top. I have learned that if I turn it off immediatly and rinse it out immediatly (before sitting to enjoy), there is no need to "wash" the machine. The propellar is magnetic and if you remove it for cleaning it will stick to everything magnetic and most likely be soon lost. Be sure your machine is dry before using again. I invert mine on a towel after rinsing then return it to its base in the evening and its ready to go the next morning. You will loose the frothing if: * your machine has the cream "build up" from not immediatly rinsing. *your machine isn't dry before use *you use some cheaper creams ... show more

    • Stopped Working After 10 Months UPDATE

The media could not be loaded. This is an excellent device when it works. But it stopped working after 10 months of once a day use. Not acceptable! It still heats milk, but the motor that spins the frother started jamming, and then finally stopped. I noticed other reviews with the same complaint, so I'd have to assume that this device has a design defect that needs to be addressed. It was great while it lasted! UPDATE 9/8/22 I wrote to support@bodum.com and explained my problem. They responded the very next day, and advised me about how to activate the 2 year warrantee (proof of purchase, short video documenting the issue). They sent me a replacement. I notice that the new device has a different spin design, so I think they have corrected the problem, and hopefully this one will last a lot longer than 10 months. We shall see. But in the meantime, I am totally enjoying using this amazing frother. I love it! And I have to compliment Bodum's support staff .... they were GREAT! ... show more
