  • Best RO system I’ve owned…
I have owned, or installed for friends, more than six reverse osmosis systems, both five stage and six stage. This is the best one so far. It is by far the easiest to install and the most compact. It provides continuous water at the faucet, without needing to recharge a pressure tank that most systems need. What I like… - Very high product to waste efficiency. This unit waste is 1/8 that of standard RO systems. - One liter per minute flow rate. That’s very fast for direct RO flow without a tank. Standard RO is barely a dribble without the storage tank. - Easy installation. Fewer plumbing/tubing connections. (See pic) - Easy filter and membrane changes. The cartridges even have built-in lever to remove and replace, no special wrench required. (See pic) - Quiet operation. The high efficiency is assisted by a booster pump. The pump is very quiet and only runs when the faucet is on (or product water is flowing). - Well-written installation manual with drawings. The tubing is marked to know how far to insert it into the fittings. (See pic) Improper tubing connection is the main reason that RO systems leak. This marking and explanation in the manual helps assure correct leak-free installation. - No guesswork filter and membrane replacement. Lights on the unit indicate when each needs replacing. Shortcomings… - The unit must rest on the floor or base of cabinet. No wall mount. Considerations… - RO systems are rated by GPD (gallons per day) but the real-world measure to consider is flow rate, or recovery rate for tank-based systems. I will never use the 100 GPD produced by my standard RO or 400 GPD produced by this system, but a higher GPD means faster flow or recovery per minute. Be aware and don’t be mislead by GPD numbers thinking that a system produces more than you need. This system delivers one liter per minute, a respectable flow rate. - Because it contains a booster pump, it requires an electrical outlet in the installed location. Many homes have an outlet for the dishwasher, so be aware an outlet might be available. - Cold water supply valve and drain also required in installed location. - The cartridges are easy and fast to change, however they are proprietary and more expensive. Future availability is a consideration. By comparison, standard RO parts are widely available and inexpensive. - I installed this for my undercounter ice machine. (See pic) Standard RO doesn’t produce enough flow to supply an ice machine. This one does. The feed valve was already installed and I didn’t need or install the faucet. Even with that, and my past experience installing standard RO systems, it took 45 minutes. The 30 minute installation estimate stated in the description is not typical for the average person. The box included the main unit with installed cartridges, power supply, faucet, tee valve and drain connection with hardware and a well-written installation guide. (See pic) As noted above, it took me about 45 minutes to install. A drill and bits and screwdriver are required. I used a tubing cutter to shorten the tubing for a neater install. Tip: be sure there’s enough excess tubing to be able to remove the base from the cabinet and still remain connected. This makes servicing and inspection much easier. If you cut tubing, be sure to mark it to the insertion point. It’s better to make sure because it is easy to think it’s fully inserted and find out it isn’t when it leaks. The ice in my machine has gone from cloudy with excess minerals, to clear. It tastes better now, too. I hope this information was helpful to you. ——- This review is for: Reverse Osmosis System, 8 Stage Tankless Reverse Osmosis Water Filter, Reduces PFAS TDS, Under Sink RO System, 2:1 Pure to Drain, 400 GPD, NSF/ANSI 58, FCC Listed, S1 ... show more

  • Review from experienced RO/DI user
Style: 600 GPD Color: White
I used to have a large saltwater aquarium which required and RO/DI system. I have used many different setups and moved them across many different houses and I can say that this setup is AMAZING (thus far)! Recently our tap water has started to have a nasty chlorine taste and I have noticed the nasty residue it leaves behind in the counter top ice maker (also highly recommend these). When I saw this simple all in one unit with 600gpd, I knew I needed it. I have a tricky install because I didn't want to have to drill my granite countertops, and I wanted water to feed the refrigerator and counter top ice maker. I opted to install the unit in the cabinet over the refrigerator so I could supply it with that water, and then feed the fridge as well. I mounted the faucet in the cabinet next to the fridge so that I could feed the ice maker without moving water around. The only issue was where to make the waste water go. I was able to feed it over 25ft away into the washing machine waste water since my sink and dishwasher are on an island. The unit fired up and the manual was not wrong when it says not to drink the first 30 minutes of water! After that, I filled my ice maker (cleaned it with vinegar just before) and I was impressed with the crystal clear ice it made! This impressed the entire family! After removing the old clogged refrigerator filter, I now have clean cold water coming out of the fridge as well! Side note, that the fridge will need a booster pump to help keep the pressure up since the output pressure of this system is not as high as the fridge requires. Overall, a great system that comes with everything you need for a standard install and the results speak for themselves. I highly recommend and would buy it again! ... show more

  • Stokk S1 Reverse Osmosis System
I think it was fairly simple to install, provided you already have an inline water connection , a pre-tapped drain and a 110v - 120v outlet under your sink. We had the water supply for the fridge that we no longer use, so simply used that line by extending it to under the sink. I didn't like the idea of tapping the bigger water intake under the sink, so I used one that I know doesn't leak. Then I drilled a hole in the sink for the faucet. Again not tough just time consuming. Then time to tap the drain. This was the part I didn't like. no not the task, the use of the device they supplied. Plastic and cheap and if you think that your drain won't back up enough to provide pressure you would be wrong. my solution was better. I drilled the hole and then I hot glued the hose into the drain. Not regular hot glue, but gorilla hot glue. Trust me it is never coming out. Once all that was done, I tapped into the electric line for the garbage disposal at the wall, and ran a new wire to an outlet I installed. Again not hard but, you guessed it...time consuming. So 5 hours in and it was done :) Water taste great and hopefully last longer then the fridge. I also would say it is best if you buy a water purity tester, to judge for yourself when the filters need changed. Our fridge would say replace every 2 months whether it was used much or not. The ice machine half the time would not work and if you look, it wasn't using the filter anyway. So change every 2 months for 6 glasses of water. LOL. ... show more
