Both the permanent filter and the pods work great. All have stood up to multiple weeks of frequent use. I especially like that I can prep the pods for the week and not have to reload them every night for the next day, and can instead only reload once a week. I cannot say that I noticed a great deal of difference in flavor of a full pot, but it is still a good cup of coffee. I use the single cup pods almost exclusively as I primarily use the "specialty" setting. It makes a nice strong flavor espresso-like cup. I like that I can add an extra shot of espresso for each cup. The best part is that it saves money over individual pods. It's not a huge issue to clean the reusable pods. Empty and rinse them and they are ready to use again.
