I've given this thing almost a year to try and "unseize" itself. I've rolled my chair all over it for the past year and the thing just REFUSES to unfurl itself. It bunches up in this really bizarre way, making huge 'hills' and 'bumps' that you physically cannot roll over. (My chair is VERY heavy, made of solid wood, and I still can't roll over them.) I've had to put giant stones down to try and 'flatten' it, which works for, like, a day or two. I had it underneath my entire desk for months and THAT wasn't even enough to flatten it out. It actually buckled around the desk and made the entire rest of the matt point upward, almost like the wings of a bird. It looked absurd so I had to move it back out. It's just stuck in this weird 'warped' fashion. I didn't take it back in time because I was convinced that it just needed some time to 'stretch out/warm up' or whatever... nope. It's actually gotten WORSE over time. This thing is awful. Desperately wish I could get my money back for it now. ... show more

    • If your low pile carpet has a pad underneath, this isn't for you

I have low pile carpet in my home office, but it's not commercial office grade low-pile, with no pad underneath. This is too soft and spongey, and the chair sinks into it, making it extremely hard to roll. The off-gassing smell is pretty powerful as well. My wife could smell it down the hall. I'd probably have been willing to let that subside if it worked better as a chair pad. Seems like it would be fine on low-pile carpet without padding. It has spikes underneath, so it's not suitable for hardwood. This is designed for a very precise application. One I don't think most home offices would meet. The media could not be loaded. The design looks cool but this mat buckles under my chair. This makes the chair hard to roll. If I had the opportunity to try this mat before I purchased I wouldn’t have purchased it. I needed a mat that would help my chair roll easier on my carpeted office. I had the same problems unrolling it as many others reviewing did and couldn't get it flat for a good three days. Those entire three days the vinyl smelled like skunk, armpit, or weed, but that eventually faded with time (I'm assuming that's normal for vinyl...?). I made the mistake of using it for high pile carpet. Despite the lack of clarity in the description: it is not intended for high pile carpet. I think it's intended for medium pile carpet or lower (less than 1/2 an inch thick), using it on anything higher causes it to dent and dimple. For as much as the description says it wont tear or crack I definitely made it crack beneath the wheel of my expensive chair in under two weeks by using it on high pile carpet. ... show more

Tis mat came rolled in a box. That in itself should tell you something. Suffice it to say I bought it and had to placed a lot books on it overnight to flatten it out. It got flat alright but it does not work on carpeted rugs with additional padding. Why? because this mat does not work on such a carpet. The mat is not thick enough to support my weight (190lbs) as the wheels on my chair sank into the mat as it did on the carpet. Well, I rolled this mat back into the box and returned it the next day. Unless you have a carpet with no padding, it should work. If not, don't buy it. ... show more
