I've been looking for something like this for ages. I have purchased a few in the past, only for them to arrive and have that strong chemical smell. This one is perfect thickness, slightly textured on one side, smooth on the other. It came rolled up in a box. I opened the top of the box and did the sniff test and to my surprise, no smell whatsoever! I just unrolled the mat and set some throw pillows on top of the corners. The mat was flat in about 30 minutes. I have not experienced it sliding around. It's clear so my hardwood floor can be seen through it, so it doesn't mess up my minimalist decor. I was at a big box office supply store and they were selling mats this size for about $79-$99. I might get another for my front door because they're so easy to clean. ... show more

This chair mat is exactly what I was looking for. It's the perfect size and is almost 100% transparent once on the floor. I don't even know it's there, as I roll my chair back and forth The reviews complaining about curling must have been written by a competing vendor, because it is a total non-issue. The mats were almost completely flat right out of the box, and by the time I got them into position, they were flat as could be.     • Good Mat
After a week and a half here is what I've observed. First, it's shipped flat so there's absolutely no rolling or curling. It lays as flat as Kansas. That's a big plus. It's transparent which is also nice as I can see the hardwood flooring underneath. And although it does have a couple of scuff marks already, it appears that it will hold up well. The chair rolls well on it and it should do a great job of protecting the floor. The only negative is it does slide around a bit. I'm going to try some double sided tape but suspect it's something I'm going to have to live with. ... show more

    • Great mat for hardwood floors.
I love this mat. It seems crazy to talk about a piece of plastic this way, but hey, I obviously don't have much of a life. There are three reasons why this mat is so great: First: It shipped flat (I purchased the 36" X 48" size). So, no curling or marks where it was folded. Second, if you want a mat that is as clear as you can get for a hardwood floor, this is it. I looked at glass chair mats but those puppies are 7 times as expensive. This mat practically disappears into the floor (the selling point of the glass versions) at a lower price point and considerably less weight. Third, it doesn't slip. Glass chair mats often slip, so no hazard with this one. If you want a mat for a hardwood floor that looks great, buy this one. ... show more

    • Lumpy, but there is a quick fix to get you to 90% flat
Size: 59" x 47" Color: Clear
I ordered the 47x59 for hardwood floors. It arrived in a square tube tightly curled (not in a flat box). Like others have described it was very tough to get to lay flat, and even then it had elongated lumps in it from being so tightly curled. The box does suggest "Your mat will more easily flatten with warmer temperatures. If you live in a warmer climate, we suggest flattening outside" Notice how that does not say "sun". My guess is that this product should not be in direct sunlight. Another suggestion on the box is to "Unroll mat and add weight to corners. Let it sit for several hours." That is a lie. The mat is so tightly curled and lumpy, no amount if weighting and waiting will fix that mess. The quick way: Re-roll the mat against it's natural curl, but in a much wider radius. Place in the tub and weigh down. Fill tub with the hottest water you have. Wait about 10 minutes. Take out of the tub and lay flat on the floor. Message the lumps and bend the edges to get as flat as possible. This got the mat pretty flat. My guess is a couple rounds of this method would get you as flat as it can get. However, it's still not as flat as I would like. If I spent the money on nice hardwood floors, then bought this mat to protect them. I'd be looking down at my nice floors, then looking at this cheap kind of lumpy mat, and think, I should have returned it and got a better one. I'm keeping mine as it's flat enough. I'm using it inside a small storage unit to allow for easily sliding plastic containers across the floor. ... show more

Have had this mat since 2017 and it's still protecting the floor. 5-stars for price and quality! We have wood floors and we operated without a mat for a number of years, then noticed the finish wearing away on the floor. Unfortunately enough grit make it off your shoes or other areas of the house onto the floor and once the office chair wheels pick that up it's grinding it into the floor. So it's not JUST the wheels themselves rolling across it causing the wear, but anything the wheels pick up. Well, this mat eliminates wear on the floors. This is my second one to order. I’ve had my first one for over 2 years in our office and there are no cracks or chips; no sign of wear. It does move slightly over time, but I haven’t put anything on it to keep it from moving yet. It wasn’t a big enough deal. Found myself in need of another chair mat so ordered another one.     • You had one job
This was one of those rare occasions where I purchased an item without checking the reviews. It was a four and a half star hardwood floor mat of the precise dimensions I needed. What could be more straightforward than that? However, this thing's billing as a hardwood floor mat is a lie. The textured surface meant to keep it from sliding is entirely ineffective. For the sake of thoroughness, I tried it on several types locations and the results remain the same. The thing glides with incredible ease, almost immediately exposing the floor to the very chair you were trying to protect it from. Due its unique design, you can actually place your feet on the mat and slide it out from under your chair while sitting in it, like some variation on the tablecloth trick. It is extremely good at not doing its job. Also, once it has slid out of place just enough, the casters of your chair catch the edges and begin to deform the mat and further its ineffectuality. As much as this cost, and with the product including the express purpose in its name, I find this product entirely unacceptable and would recommend prospective customers look elsewhere I am giving this thing one star because, despite prompt shipping and good packaging, what arrived does not do the one thing it was supposed to do. ... show more
