I have had different chair mats over the last 3 or 4 years. I had a tempered glass one that shattered. I had a carpet one and a smaller plastic one, the edges on those would get caught if i pushed my chair too far back or too far to one side This one is much bigger. I don't put it under the desk,just have it very wide in front of my computer desk. It works much better for me. the only small complaint I have is that it comes very tightly rolled in a long cardboard box and took several days under heavy weight to flatten. Also, the little pointy things on the underside are very hard and pointy and I jammed one under my thumb nail when trying to flatten it. It works well on our medium shag carpet. I would not use it on a wood floor. ... show more

It comes rolled up so you have to unroll, which took two people. Th material is a little soft once you put your chair on it so the wheels of your chair sort of create little dents they settle in if you’ve sat in one spot for a while so takes a little push to roll out of the spot. I received this mat quickly as others have said, however that is the only thing that matches the description. The mat is not clear, it is more translucent than clear. This is not a major issue, but not what I expected or wanted. The main problem I have is that it is too soft for a chair to roll on it. Even on my very low pile carpet, the chair causes dips in the mat. When trying to move in the chair, it is basically stuck and requires more energy/force to move the chair on the mat than it does on the carpet. The basic functionality of the mat is to protect the carpet and make it easier to use a chair, however it does this very poorly. This mat is not worth the money spent on it is a very poor value for the money spent. Also, as others have mentioned, it is still rolling up on the ends despite heavy objects sitting on it for well over the suggested time frame. I regret purchasing it. I would attempt a return but there is no way I could roll it back up in the box, so it will just be thrown away. Such a waste of my money. ... show more

Not thick enough to support an individual sitting an office chair. The wheels sink into chair mat causing the char to not be able to move on the mat. The manufacturer of the chair mat should double thickness of the plastic material. I returned the product because it is essentially useless. In the description of the chair mat it said it was heavy duty, and there was nothing heavy duty about it. ... show more

Before I start, I want to describe the carpet that I used this for. It is normal residential carpet. When I use a stiff needle, it plunges a little less than 3/8" from the pile surface to the backing of the carpet. When I push it all the way through the backing and the carpet pad to the subfloor beneath it, it is about 3/4" from top of pile to subfloor. So, I completely acknowledge that I used this floor mat for an application that the manufacturer does not recommend. That said... I have been using this floor protector for 14 months. Having used a polycarbonate floor mat in the past, I am really disappointed with this one. It arrived rolled up in a carboard box in early December, so it was cold. I figured that I needed to give it some time to warm up and unroll. Folks, it was several days before I could even begin to spread it out and try to get it to lay flat. It was several months before I removed the heavy books and other weights that I used to try to get it to lay flat. To this day, 14 months later, it still does not lay perfectly flat. It is still wavy, but useable. It started cracking under my office chair after about 10 months, and now large pieces of plastic have broken out of the mat, leaving several gaping holes that the wheels of my chair roll into and get stuck. I knew when I bought it that it was not polycarbonate, but it was less than half the price, so I gave it a shot, but it missed the mark that I was looking for. It may work very well for a very low pile and well supported carpet, but it did not work for me. My carpet is a normal residential bedroom carpet. Nothing exotic or super plush. If you are working on a thin carpet glued down to concrete - like some offices that I have been in - It may work just fine. But you will need to give it several weeks to relax in a warm room before you can use it without weights around its perimeter to hold it down. That was my experience. No kidding and no exaggeration. After it was removed from the box, it did not unroll to even twice its original diameter for several days, and that was with some constant force applied to unroll it. I gave three stars because I thought that it would be unfair to give less, since I put this on a normal carpet and not an office carpet. But to be truthful, I have been disappointed with it. ... show more
