  • Great system and even better Custom Service support
This a great camera system. It is perfectly priced. Reolink has the best customer support I've ever seen in a company. If you have an issue they respond within hours. Not kidding. I emailed their tech support at 8:30 PM and they responded by 8:53 PM. After working through my issue, the problem was solved less than an hour later. Their customer service is the best. I have had this camera system now for over two years and I have had zero major issues with it. I think most of the issues that arise are small technical issues that usually happen when the system (firmware) is updated. You may have to reset some settings. However, I think you can save system settings and then reload them. The system has never failed. Cameras Reolink continues to improve the quality of their cameras. And once you have the system installed upgrading is as simple as unplugging the old camera and plugging in the new one. I have 4M cameras and 5M cameras and the 5M cameras produce a high-quality image. The 4M cameras are good but the 5M cameras are superior. I can only image how awesome a 4K camera would be. Motion detection is awesome. There are a ton of controls that allow the motion detection to be set up for your personal needs. Getting notified on your phone that someone is at your front door is worth every penny you might spend on the system. Mac App The client on my Mac is super slick. It is easy to navigate and configure. Reolink continues to push updates to keep the client updated and fix issues. The client continues to improve. With one of the latest updates you can now update the NVR firmware from your computer. Prior to this update you were required to copy it to a flash drive and update it directly on the NVR. iPhone app The app on my phone is also slick with a nice interface. The only issue I have sometimes is getting connected when trying to view a camera. Even on a super-fast WIFI network I will get connection errors and it may take several tries to finally get the camera to begin streaming. I should take a STAR off of the rating for this but there is so much more about this system that is great I am going to leave it at 5-STARS. This issue may even have something to do with my home WIFI. So, 5-STARS it is. If you are looking for a surveillance system get this one. It is a great system. It is easy to set up. It is easy to use. You won't break the bank getting it. You can always start with the NVR and a camera or two and add cameras at a later date. That is what I did. I ran extra CAT-5 cables when installing the first two cameras and then easily added three more cameras. I highly recommend Reolink. ... show more

  • Set-up couldn't be easier
Running the CAT wires was the most time-consuming part of the set-up but after that and another 10 minutes it was up and running. I matched the NVR with 1-4K Dome and 3-5mp Bullet Reolink cameras, all with "vehicle/people" detection. That feature works nicely and significantly decreases unnecessary email or push Alerts if you use that feature. It also has Privacy (black out certain areas from viewing/recording) and you can also exclude areas from Alerts. The Android/Windows apps work flawlessly and have almost all the features that are built into the UI (you access UI from the HDMI connection). The only drawback to the UI is that it only accepts a wired mouse (included) or a few obscure wireless mouses. No, Logitech Unifying doesn't work. Actually, L/R buttons work but pointer doesn't move. I tried it with 3 different Logitech’s. And, you can't use a keyboard (for login, labeling etc, I even tried a keyboard with a touch pad). The bonus you get with the UI is that you can set viewing to switch between cameras at a defined interval. This way you can view each camera in full screen, kinda like a slide show. The apps don't have that feature, you can only view a single camera or all cameras in Tile mode. Finally, when I was reading previous reviews, someone stated (back in 2018 I think) that the fan was really loud and that they had replaced the stock fan with a Noctura 40x20 Flex. So, being a fan of Noctura (pun intended), I also purchased said fan with the intent of proactively swapping it in. To my surprise, my NVR did not come with a fan, only passive cooling. However, the case still had the cut out and mounting holes for a fan. The fan header on the board was also maintained (it's located in the general area shown in the pic) so, the Noctura was installed quite easily. Not sure why they eliminated the fan or if it was just my unit but, I like active cooling in a case. It had a Seagate 2TB drive installed but previous review pics have shown different manufactures of the HD. Nevertheless, so far, so happy. Only variable left is time. ... show more

  • The Reolink cameras took a little while to connect up to NVR until I got a Google app pass code
The set up of this NVR was not totally straight forward. Hook cameras up with ethernet cables and hook up to router and plug in the power supply to outlet and the other end into the port on NVR and last hook up the monitor or smart TV to view the Wizard setup. I would look on You Tube to find a good tutorial on setting up Reolink NVR. I downloaded the Reolink app for my phone and the Reolink cameras showed up in a minute or two on the app. For the NVR I had to learn how to go and Google "how to get the Google App Password" which involves getting into the two 2-Step verification to get the app password which is about 15 digits long and only used once to get your NVR to send alerts to you( save it for reinstalling if you pressed the wrong button like I did, which deleted the password and I had to rewrite it back in the Wizard). After that everything falls into place using the Wizard (I followed the You Tube tutorial on Reolink NVR setup and it told me what to fill out on the Wizard and what to skip. After this initial setup you can now fine tune your cameras through the NVR or the phone app and setup the motion detection grid areas and the cameras night vision sensitivity, etc. Once set up the tweaking of cameras is all there and fairly easy to follow even for a novice like me. I would recommend buying this NVR. ... show more

  • Bundle buy w/camera(s)
The Bad: 1. Pricey (Buy in a bundle) 2. Hard Drive, 2TB not enough, would recommend 4TB± at least if not 8TB± 【4K camera(s) can add up depending on location traffic. # of camera(s)】 3. Still need to buy the camera(s). Neutral: 1. Software: Would like a "Bookmark" or "Favorite" certain videos to prevent deleting. 【Might have, but haven't figured out so neutral】 2. Cheap basic mouse. The Good: 1. It does it job, physically nothing fancy but effective. 2. The real reason to spend the $$$, the software and user interface. Fairly simple user interface. ... show more
