UPDATE: Reolink reached out to me to better understand my issues with this camera. In light of their observations and the specific design criteria stated for this camera, I feel that an adjustment to its rating is warranted. The camera is designed to operate independently, powered by nothing more than its internal battery and the included solar panel for keeping it charged. Due to the limitations of battery operation, it is not designed to operate continuously in a "high power" mode that would be required for 24/7 realtime streaming even if a continuous power supply is connected to it. Reolink reviewed their product offerings and came up with an alternative camera that is nearly perfect for my needs. I've since installed it and it is performing well. Reolink also provided a discount for the new camera that took away some of the sting of having to swap out yet another camera located on a 10 foot pole in the middle of a 3 acre field. While my observations of the TrackMix+Solar Panel camera are accurate, I believe it can be a great option for individuals with specialized requirements where external power is not readily available. So even though this camera didn't work out for me, Reolink has really gone above and beyond to make certain I'm satisfied with my camera selection. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This camera is a huge disappointment. I have a large field with our driveway along one side, and a substantial ground-based solar array near the driveway. I purchased this camera to monitor all of this, with the hope that I could stream from it continuously via Frigate or Zoneminder. Unfortunately, the camera streams only to its app (which, to be fair, is available on Windows, Android, IoS and MacOS) but does not support rtsp or ONVIF. So using it with a 3rd party app just isn't possible. It also has some terrible shortcomings for PTZ; while it will remember preset positions, it does not remember zoom level. So if you want to quickly check whether the trash has been picked up, you have to select the preset for the proper position to see the end of the driveway, then zoom in as a separate step to determine whether the trash has been collected. While the camera has an internal battery and comes with a solar panel, I have 5VDC available at the camera's location. It's powered all the time so battery life isn't an issue. But the stupid app keeps complaining that I'm going to run the battery down when I'm streaming more than a minute or so and terminates the session. Not a happy camper here.

Update I never got this working. Reolink eventually refunded me, but it was a long drawn out process, in part due to the company's "24x5" support (whatever that means, I contacted them during US business hours and was told I was contacting them 'after hours'). Worse, the AI chatbot seems to have a very weak grasp of English. Worse still, they keep charging me for data I was never able to use. This has been a horrible experience overall. I replaced this with a Eufy 4g camera, and the experience on the whole has been incredibly smooth by contrast. In brief, the camera never showed up in my app after going all the way through the setup process, and paying for 3 months of data. I can attempt to re-add it- which entails purchasing ANOTHER subscription, but the 40% new customer discount will not apply. I tried everything their faq recommends to try to reset it. No luck. Support apparently is a 1-3 day delay type thing. So backing up a bit- I have issues with the physical device- specifically the sim card cover and the sdcard cover. The material seems pretty solid, but the screws are terrible. The instructions mention a screwdriver, but there wasn't one in my package. No worries, I have plenty... or at least I though- what the heck type of screw head is this? It appears to be one of those slotted/ Phillips types, but it's too shallow to fit a Phillips #1, and too narrow for a #2. So it's a slotted screwdriver, ok. They should be captive - as in, they don't unscrew all the way so that you drop them and can't find them to put the cover back on, but on mine, one unscrews all the way out. They're really really hard to find if you drop them. If you've mounted the camera already and you're standing on a ladder over shrubbery, you're just plain screwed, no pun. I'm pretty sure they're an M2 or smaller, so good luck finding that at your local hardware store. Oh and they're stainless - as they should be for outdoors, but good luck finding them with a magnet (or trying to use a magnetic screwdriver to keep from losing them). The SD card screws - which are on the bottom of the lower camera unit? Neither are captive. And with this weird non-conforming head type, the will not stay on the end of an even magnetized screwdriver. Allen or torx head screws would have been a far better choice here. When you run into issues requiring resetting the thing, you'll have to pull the top side sim cover off all over again. Ignore the chatbot if it points you to a reset article for the thing which said the reset button is under the sdcard cover... It isn't. I'm just really irked there isn't a human - or a marginally competent chatbot which could look up to see if my payment went through, or reset the plan setup, since that's what really seems to have borked here. I might ordinarily be amused that the chatbot doesn't speak - or understand English well, but not when you're looking for help and all it can do is tell you "Sorry. You can try to rephrase your question or directly contact an agent by typing “Agent”, so you reply "Agent" and it replies, "I didn't get that." I'm pretty shocked at the lack of more timely support at this price point. I'm just not sure this is going to work out.

I have owned several brands of outdoor cameras over many years. There's a lot of garbage out there. After reading the reviews on this camera I was skeptical, however the poor reviews seemed more like user error than product, so I went for it. I've had that camera now for over a year and it has been a rockstar. It did crash once a few months ago, I rebooted it and it has been flawless since. I have since purchased two more and they are also operating at the same level. Doing what I expect. What I like: Quality build. It feels beefy and it works well. Smooth and does what you expect. I really love the dual camera. I leave one wide angle (default) and the 2nd zoom to get more detail on that same scene. The tracking works really well and even zooms in and out. What I don't like: It can be slow to connect to the camera from the app. Not horrible, but sometimes longer than a wifi connected camera. I suspect this may be due to our rural location over cellular and not the camera performance. The main thing that drives me nuts is the app. It works well overall but as you drill down on video's and then hit the back button, you can be buried several layers deep taking a lot of clicks to get back to the main screen. Easy software app fix. I'm digging deep on the dis-likes. Really, this is the best outdoor camera I've found yet.

Edit - I an changing this to four stars because Reolink reached out, offered a refund and recommended another camera that has thus far worked excellent. The TrackMix 2 has much more storage space and allows for continuous recording. I believe the issue with this unit not reliably recording may be due to the fact that the camera was about 50 feet from the incident and the camera only records motion. However, that does not change the fact that the SD card is unreadable by computer and that it still does not reliably record. Reolink support has been very responsive. Original Review 2 - Star I bought this to use as a job camera for construction. The system worked well... most of the time. However, in some areas where we have decent cellular coverage, the camera would not connect. The biggest downfall, and reason for the 2-star review, is that while the camera does provide reasonably good live footage, it fails to reliably record past events. We had an issue at the job site and the camera just didn't record for the 3-hours prior to the issue. This is causing significant problems as we need to show our team was not at fault. Unfortunately, this is 3- months in, and past the return window. I will be contacting Amazon in hopes of getting a full refund. The entire point of a security system is that it works properly and records reliably. This camera does neither.

This camera has not given me the best service. Although I have purchased several different Reolink cameras for certain situations, this one has let me down the most. It is not charging correctly, even though it gets full sun for at least 8 hours. And when the battery goes out, it loses internet. And when it loses internet, it has to be taken down and re-programed. The first time I complained, they had me buy a new solar panel for $40. That didn't work, so the next time I called them they offered me 10% off a new one to replace it. Woop-t-do! Also, don't count on having 2 way conversation with any of their cameras- it hasn't worked on any of my Reolink cameras.

I absolutely love this camera. It works great, the motion detection is impressive. Excellent video quality, even at night. The camera charges throughout the day and last all night. It was very easy to set up and works great with all my other reolink cameras. It's nice to be able to handle all of them in the same application. Has really cool features like a siren and audio recording.
