  • Works great, Renewed makes it even better
I bought these over a year ago and they are amazing. I have gig fiber internet and these keep up no problem. The Router is set up by the fiber modem and the 2 satellites are hard wired to office areas that are spread out on the 1st floor. We have amazing coverage everywhere in the house, upstairs and outside. It's great to have the satellites hardwired so we can run switches off of them and hardwire in our work computers. Speed tests and buffer bloat tests are right where you expect them to be on wired and wireless connections. There's better systems out there, but these are exceptional for the money. We work from home and this system has been 100% reliable for over a year. ... show more

  • Amazing Speed and Performance
I have a 4 story concrete home. I was skeptical at first, but with one of these units on 3 floors, I have blazing fast WiFi in the entire home. My WiFi speed at the modem is 500mb/s, and throughout the home now my lowest WiFi is 300mb/s, up to 500mb/sec when closest to the router (same room). Could not be happier with this purchase. Truly amazing product! ... show more

  • Orbi "Mesh 6" system disappointing after Orbi "Mesh 5"
Purchased a "refurb by Amazon" Orbi AX-4200 with a $200 savings from the shelf price at Costco. This included the router (RBR-753) and 2 satellites. I was not experiencing problems with my Orbi RBR50 router and satellites from several years ago (Mesh 5), but I wanted to see if I could eliminate some minor buffering and improve outside signal strength since I have several outdoor cameras that operate on my wifi signal off the garage satellite. First thing you notice with an Amazon "refurb" product is the shipping materials are stark. Nothing but a box, 3 Orbi units, 3 power supplies and an ethernet cable with a 1-page install guide. The Orbi App for Android was already on my mobile device so I merely had to setup a new system. This took some time as the satellites and router needed several reboots for firmware upgrades, but eventually, all of my devices joined the identical Orbi network from my Mesh 5 system as I kept the SSID and passwords the same. Instantly, I noted that the "Armor" protection software that comes with a 30-day trial from Netgear was expired. Poor customer service work on either Amazon or Netgear's behalf. I am not sure who takes the credit, but the unit was already registered to the original purchaser, so nobody from Amazon resales or Netgear bothered to reset the sales record, even though Netgear knows I registered the product under my name when I installed the system via the Orbi App. When I use the Orbi App, I now see big red letters "Expired - Renew Armor Now" which is ridiculous. 30 days "trial" is ridiculous too, for a product considerably more expensive than their competitors, but that's another matter. When I was asked by Netgear to rate their system (survey generated when I activated my network) I mentioned that I was displeased that a brand-new "out of the box" refurb was indicating that the Armor software trial was already expired, I was contacted by their tech support via email and told "it was a trial, and it is expired" so they completely disregarded my input that this was a brand-new system to me purchased as a "refurb" from Amazon. No response, other than that my "ticket" was closed. No offer to reset my 30 day trial. Amazon, if you are reading this, you need to "reset" any time clock on trial software or warranties so the next purchaser of a "refurb" or reconditioned product doesn't get the shaft, like me. Additionally, if nobody at Amazon is taking a returned item and verifying that is is operational, and in the case of a "mesh" system, this would take some time and a suitably trained tech, you should incorporate this procedure. A tech validating the system was operational, would have triggered another "registration" at Netgear, potentially causing them to "reset" the trial software clock. Now, as to the performance of the "Mesh 6" Orbi AX-4200. It will be returned within the 90 day return window. There is ZERO appreciable improvement over the 3 year old Orbi Mesh 5 system. In fact, the performance is degraded. All of my streaming devices are now indicating increased buffering and my "speed tests" that I run within the Orbi App reflect same or lesser down/up throughput with the Mesh 6 compared to my old Orbi 5 system. Not only is the performance sub-Orbi 5, but the features on the satellites and router are "dumbed down" with the purported increase in technology. Fewer ethernet ports. No option to use a USB storage device as a shareable resource, and the physical size of the Orbi "antennae" is a third larger than the Orbi 5, despite having (apparently) weaker transmission/power. All in all, I completely regret this "refurb" purchase from Amazon. It is obvious Netgear needed to push some pricier Orbi systems out, but whatever technology gains this "Mesh 6" purports to have over the "Mesh 5" is pure bunk. From the snarky Netgear support over the expired "trial" to the failure of the performance specs, this system is going back into the nondescript brown box and going back to a return center for refund. ... show more

  • Just What I needed!!
The range on these things are excellent!!! No wifi extender I tried was able to fix our problem of the wireless outdoor cameras going offline due to no or poor signals. That issue has been completely eliminated. Any device hooked up to this mesh network can stream high def videos anywhere on our property. ... show more

  • Great but...Tech Support...
Setup was okay...one of my satellites did not want to connect and I had to do a lot of "turn it off and back on again." One day though, my admin interface stopped working. I do some pentesting from time to time and needed to update my port forwarding. I called customer support and they told me to factory reset. Several times. I said no as they did NO TROUBLESHOOTING AT ALL up to that point. Several calls later (as I am sure we all have experienced) I get the person who knows whats wrong. This is a KNOWN ISSUE and they are rolling out a fix. Could not tell me when or how that would happen but we'd get there. In the end, I found a user on Reddit that was a NetGear CSR Admin and asked her for help. All good the next morning. TLDR: Had an issue, had to get a Redditor to fix it. NetGear CS is bleh. ... show more

  • Greatly exceeded expectations
I had been looking at the latest Orbis and just couldn't swallow the $1499 price. Wasn't sure that I would like renewed 753s but with Amazon's return policy and for $299, it was certainly worth a try. Setup was super quick and easy. When I was first setting up I happened to plug in a satellite on a different floor at the opposite end of our 7800 Sq ft home first. Intended to put the other satellite in the middle of the home to feed it but noticed it picked up a signal right away. Turned on videos on both the TV and computer. Both worked great so started walking out in the yard with my phone to see how far the signal went. Ended up going about 100 ft away from the home before the signal was dropped. Was amazed to find out that the Orbi router could reach the satellites wherever I placed them because with our Windstream router, a Netgear AX1800 could only pick up a signal a little over half the length of our home. I do not anticipate needing a more powerful system for quite some time but if it were needed my 753 satellites could still be used as extras with an 850 system. Very happy to have made this purchase. The 753 does everything needed and saved me a ton of money. ... show more

  • Ultimately satisfied with the system.
The system was shipped with one non-working satellite. However, the seller (Woot) addressed the issue in a timely manner. The system was a bit difficult to set-up but has very good signal coverage.
