Description

The Eagle Type I galvanized steel safety can with funnel is used to store, transport, and dispense flammable liquids safely and comes with a funnel to facilitate filling and pouring. The can is made of 24-gauge galvanized steel, which is resistant to rust, dents, and certain chemicals. Gauge is a measure of thickness (the lower the gauge, the thicker the material). The powder-coated finish resists scratches, chipping, fading, and other wear. A flame arrestor helps prevent liquids inside the can from igniting and keep flames from spreading. The spout cap self-closes to help prevent leaks or spills. The cap assembly opens automatically to vent internal vapors. A trilingual safety warning label alerts users to the can's contents. The funnel is made of HDPE (high-density polyethylene), which is resistant to dents, punctures, and certain chemicals. This safety can may be available in different colors (blue for kerosene, green for oil or other combustibles, red for gasoline, or yellow for diesel) to separate, store, and identify different liquids. This product is FM Approved as a safety can used for handling flammable liquids in quantities of 5 gallons or less. It complies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standard 1910.106 for the safe storage and handling of flammable liquids. It meets National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Code 30, which provides safeguards to reduce the hazards associated with the storage, handling, and use of flammable and combustible liquids. It is Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Listed and meets UL safety requirements.Hazardous storage cans are used to safely store, transport, and dispense flammable or hazardous liquids. They are typically made of polyethylene, 24-gauge galvanized steel, or 24-gauge stainless steel. (Gauge is a measure of thickness; the lower the gauge, the thicker the material.) They are often color-coded for different liquids (for instance, red cans for gasoline, blue cans for kerosene, yellow cans for diesel fuel, or green cans for oil). Other common features include flame arrestors, which help prevent the liquid inside the can from igniting, and seam welds, which help prevent leaks. Certain hazardous storage cans are FM Approved, and many meet National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards for the storage and handling of flammable liquids. Hazardous storage cans are used in a variety of commercial and industrial environments and can also be suitable for home use.Eagle Manufacturing Company manufactures industrial safety, haz-mat, and storage products that meet International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards for quality assurance. • Quality, strong, easy to use gas can that will last for years.
Color: Red Size: 5 Gallon Style: With Funnel
You can have lots of gas, the can is made very well. Obviously it's more expenses that plastic cans. But you won't need to buy another for many years to come. It has a funnel which makes it super easy to pour the gas into your lawnmower with out spilling it on the lawnmower.

  • This is the best gas can I've owned...
Color: Red Size: 2 Gallon Style: With Funnel
UPDATE after SIX years constant use: You read it right, six years, still working like new. Only maintenance is making sure the funnel is clean before using it. No leaks, no splash over, fits EVERY application. I use this mainly on the ZTR or to take gas to someone in trouble. I've never left these in the sun for more than a few minutes. Original Review: Of course while in the service I used the heavy duty cans with flex spouts, and those are the best, but very hard to find these days. So I've had to make do for years and years with the plastic ones that you have to take off the spout to fill, and they always leak either there or at the "safety valve" they were putting on the spout tip for a while. I'm testifying tomorrow in a deposition about one of those, you can find my review of it if you look for the lowest rated gas cans...haha. That one not only leaked while using and filling, it split along the handle at the top and exhausted fumes all over the shed all day every day, and sloshed gas on my hands when I carried it, and then poured gas out of the split onto whatever I was filling... forget that~!! But I've had two of these Eagle cans for over two years now, and they get a lot of use and store in a southwest Texas storage shed that gets really hot in the summer... so these metal cans help give me at least a little feeling of being safer. I've never had a spill with these, and taking off the funnel is no problem when filling ... for me anyway, apparently some other reviewers don't realize all they went through with other types of cans when filling, like the ratcheting safety clips and the rubber washers that fall off and then the can leaks... these are spring loaded at the cap, just a squeeze to open it, and even though a "little" pressure could build up in them in the heat, not much, since it can just push the cap up and the spring lets out the pressure. This is a good design and I'll stick with it. The price is higher, but they'll last a long long time and stay trouble free. I recommend. ... show more

  • Well made gas can. Seals very well
Color: Red Size: 5 Gallon Style: With Funnel
This is a really well made gas can that holds 5 gallons and is easy to use as it comes with a funnel that attaches to can to fill lawn mower etc. It has a well designed flip lever cap that seals when not in use but opens when hand contacts the opening lever. Made of metal.

  • My Go To Gas Can
Color: Yellow Size: 5 Gallon Style: With Funnel
Good quality safety can. The metal is thick and feels way more durable than the cheap plastic cans. The spring-loaded lid works well and seals tight so there’s no smell or leaks when it’s sitting in the truck. The flame arrestor is a nice safety feature too. It pours clean if you tilt it slowly, but it can be a little slower than a normal spout since it’s a safety design. Overall it feels built to last and definitely better than the plastic cans that crack over time. Would buy again. ... show more

  • Slower pour, strong hand spring, but tremendous quality can. Replaced all my plastic containers.
Color: Red Size: 5 Gallon Style: With Funnel
This Eagle metal safety can is a significant upgrade from typical red plastic gas carriers, offering superior build quality, durability, and stability. Unlike plastic containers that are prone to tipping over, this can remains upright in the back of a vehicle, even on rough roads due to a wider footprint and lower center of gravity. Its construction and solid seals effectively prevent leaks and the escape of gas fumes during transport. Being metal, you'd think this would be a lot heavier, but it's really not. Five gallons in a container is heavy regardless, and this doesn't feel much different than my plastic containers. The pouring performance is a standout feature. The included plastic funnel allows a smooth, spill-free transfer of fuel into equipment like lawnmowers and generators. While the flow is steady and controlled, it's important to note that as a Type I safety can, it lacks a dedicated air vent. This safety design results in a slower pour compared to non-safety or Type II cans, but it is a massive improvement over the leaky and frustrating "safety nozzles" found on many plastic models. Remember to add some gas treatment if you're planning to store gas for a while. I use ethanal-free gas and a can of Sea Foam with each fill up. There are a few practical considerations. The cap's spring is intentionally strong for safety—to self-close in case of a drop or fire. It does require some hand strength to hold it open, which may be difficult for some older users to operate. Additionally, the tight-fitting funnel must be removed when the can is refilled at the gas station, which can be a minor inconvenience. I took mine off and leave it on a shelf. For those tired of those flimsy, unreliable plastic cans, this Eagle safety can is a worthwhile investment that's built to last for years. Replaced all my plastic containers with these. ... show more

  • Just what I needed
Color: Red Size: 5 Gallon Style: With Funnel
I just received my new metal gas can. Open the box and it was perfect No dents or dings Some customer received theirs with dents that may be related to air transport higher altitudes causing a vacuum inside the can. I'd recommend to Eagle to prop the lip open so no vacuum can be created from pressure differential in altitude changes while shipping to different locations. This is the exact same gas can that my local auto parts store sells with their name brand on it for 92.00 dollars, funnel at an extra cost of 15.00. I bought this for 58.00 dollars with the funnel delivered to my door. I've used these at my work place for many years never had any problem with this product. Well worth the money spent. Don't want another plastic gas can. They are not ment for fuel storage the black plastic cap cracks from the pressure and the plastic gas can are not vented to release pressure so the plastic can swell up and the caps cracked. Felt very unsafe. Works well for transporting fuel but best to leave empty until you need to get fuel. I bought this metal can because we just had a hole island power outage I had no gas for my generator I was worried about our food storage. My generator will run for 8 hours on 1 gallon of fuel so 5 gallon would have been a big help. This metal gas can is vented for storage and is safe to use. I read alot of the comments giving low stars you know about the funnel and the spring tension to open the lid. First off is I'll never use the funnel on the can. I'll stick the funnel in the fuel filler on my car and then slowly put the gas in simple. The springs on the lid is so the vapors can vent if the pressure gets to high in the can far better then the plastic can that can crack and leak fuel. Not recommend for kids to use I may buy one more, 10 gallons should be more then enough for an emergency. You don't want to much gas stored at home but I would believe 10 gallons should be ok. ... show more
