  • Wide trimmer - saves time on shaving head
I ordered this on 7/27/2026 - so far, I love it - it works great and cut my trimming time on my head in half. I do t want 100%clean shaven bald head - I like a little stubble on the sides, and this does the trick without the guard. I did read complaints that it doesn't last long though - I hope that's not the case bc this thing is great! ... show more

  • Excellent, versatile shaver that lasts.
I originally bought the Remington Shortcut Pro back in 2017 and it has been excellent ever since. That's nearly a decade of reliable use from a single unit. The battery finally started dying and could no longer hold a charge, and that's when I knew it was time to buy the exact same model. I use it to shave my head with no guard — basically a zero. What I love about it is that it doesn't give you a close shave. It leaves just enough hair so you don't have that fully bald look. If you want a razor-close shave, check out the newer Philips head shaver. But that's $150 whereas this is under $60. The curved blade design works naturally with the shape of your head, making it easy to do yourself without missing spots. It's compact, easy to handle, and gets the job done quickly. No fuss, no complicated setup — just pick it up and go. This trimmer isn't perfect and I see some people have had issues but I had this for 9 years. For me, it was excellent. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Awesome Clippers (once I overcame my hair loss denial)
I am in my early 50s and for the past years my hair, as expected, has been thinning. Not the good kind of thinning where it starts in the top back part of the head, but rather in the top front, where every time you look in the mirror you just cannot escape reality. About three years ago, I made the decision to go short with my hair. I started out with #2 clippers on the side, and #3 on top. I found myself going to get my hair cut about every three weeks and over time, I realized I had to go every other week. This started adding up financially, so I fired my barber who wanted $20/cut (I live in the DC metro area, so things are a little pricey here) and found a $15/cut barber. I used them for about a year before I realized I had to go to #1 for side and #2 for top and then, you guessed it, I had to go every other week. Factoring in 10 minute drive each way to/from the barber and coupled with the great aniticipation of whether I would just immediately be seated or whether I would get to enjoy 30 minutes of web surfing while I wait, I came to the conclusion that maintaining (what is left of) my hair just was too time intensive. It's not like I will be styling or blow drying my hair ever again. So all in, haircuts were taking too much time from my other duties a/k/a "The Honey-Do List." So I went out and purchased grooming clippers (a different kind, you know, cheap ones to test out because at some point my hair would miraculously re-spawn and I could throw those clippers out) to do my own hair. As expected they worked great, but because they were somewhat narrow it took some time to balden the head. So one night I am hanging out with my friend Todd who has the same, uh hum, gifted hairline and he tells me about this Remington product. It sounded good but I already had a set of clippers but alas my wife was listening and, like most wives, she has a memory that is everlasting. So fast-forward it is Fathers Day 2018 and I open a gift from my kids and it's is these clippers. I opened the package and my kids immediately wanted to see me use them, and so I did. My reaction? WOW!! I LOVE THESE CLIPPERS, so here is my review: * They work great * The curvature speeds up the cut * The unit is very ergonomic and really fits nicely in my hand * It is remarkably quiet, so when clipping around the ears it's not deafening * I love that it is cordless which makes it easy to use * It is priced right, it pays for itself in only 3 to 4 haircuts. But the big thing I like is that it works so well that I have now reclaimed a ton of time from going to the barber so I can do other things. ... show more

  • Greatest Hair Trimmer on the Market
UPDATE #2 - So I reduced my 4 star to 3. The build quality is sketchy. I've been on my replaced unit since my first one died on me for around shockingly, another 8 months. This time? The rubber edging on the unit has begun to peel from where the blade sits. That is really crazy considering I baby the damn unit. It has literally peeled out of nowhere... I'm not sure how annoying it will become but this brings back to Remington... They are like the German car maker of hair trimmers. They look nice and might feel good, but the lack of build quality begins to show shortly. It's really a bummer because the actual functionality of the unit and design is still awesome. Just don't be shocked if it falls apart or dies on you rather quickly. Again, we are talking months from original purchase. I had a WAHL that my sister bought me when I was 15. I threw it out after purchasing this. That was 16 years later... UPDATE - So I reduced my 5 star to 4 after my unit ended up dying on me about 8 months after the purchase. I reached out to Remington however who had me provide them with some etched model information and they sent me back a complete replacement unit as though I had purchased it again. While I thought that was great customer service to do that, it just made me slightly hesitant on their build quality which was something I always questioned in the past from previous Remington products I owned. I mean cmon here, I owned a Walh hair trimmer for 15 years and barely oiled it up and it always got the job done. I own this product for 8 months and it goes dead... you can't even compare build quality. With that said, I'm hoping they figured out what caused earlier models of this unit to potentially go dead and the unit that they sent me has the fix because I do love this machine but again, the build quality is questionable. Original review - So I didn't want to immediately write a review on this a week after I bought it feeling that I was just still caught up in the hype. Here I am a little more than 2 months of owning it. Let me say, BELIEVE THE HYPE. I'm on the internet, so I can say this without feeling the eyes balls shifting on me. I'm a hairy dude. Born hairy, and I hate it. I try to always keep the hair in check. I'm not just hairy in the common spots, I'm hairy like, if I crash land on an island and get found 10 years later, I might be shot or caged thinking I'm big foot or something. With that said, I was previously rocking the Walh Peanut, and it's sufficed over the many years (on my second), that I've used it to get the closest trim possible for my head and various other areas. The problem with that was the length of the blade is rather short. Obviously designed more so for clean cuts on the hair, face. Not ideal for large areas. In comes Remington HC4250. Holy cow. I used to own some Remington trimmers in the past and thought they were weak, at least compared to Walh. This one changes the game boys (and gals?). The length of the blade is probably the largest of any trimmer I've used and in comparison to the peanut, it's 2 peanut blades put side by side, plus some length to give you an idea. It makes the chest trimming a BREEZE. I'm talking about, what normally would be like a 15 minute affair between chest and legs, down to 5 minutes or less. It's effortless to grab and cut all the hair, especially because of it's angled blade. It's almost like a mouth consuming all your hair. While I also don't prefer cordless as I feel they aren't as strong as corded, I do appreciate that you can use this one both ways and have used it to the cordless route on a trip once. It was very convenient, however I'm back to corded whenever using it at home. It does come with multiple attachments, however as I'm always going for as close as possible, I've only used the blade. Has been flawless thus far. I keep it clean after every use and oil it every other use. If I had 1 complaint, it's that, my unit did not come with the travel case, but rather in a straight up box that looked like it was refurbed. I have no idea how that happened as I bought it direct through Amazon via Remington, but I never received my travel case with it. Not sure what went wrong but didn't really look into that until like a month later and then thought it was too late to care. Regardless, a travel case doesn't make the product and reviewing the product itself, I have to say over 2 months later, this is the greatest trimmer I've ever used and know that I WILL buy another one in the future should anything happen to this unit. UPDATE #3 - I've bumped it back to 4 stars. You might noticed I I purchased this in 2017. Yeah, I had a replacement unit within that same year. That replacement unit, despite the rubber falling off still works to this day and holds a charge as good as the day I got it. To me, that is some kind of technological battery miracle. I've had plenty of other rechargeable trimmers/devices where the battery weakens over time. The fact that this is on its 8th year and still holds a charge as good as the day I got it blows my mind. Not to mention, it just works, period. If it wasn't for the rubber peeling off and my initial experience where the unit died on me, this would easily be a 5 star device. ... show more

  • Great Product. Awful Warranty Experience.
UPDATE: I originally wrote a glowing review of this product because I genuinely loved it. Unfortunately, after only a few months, the unit failed. What followed completely changed my opinion of the company behind it. I contacted Empower Brands expecting a normal warranty process. Instead, the entire experience left me feeling as though I had done something wrong simply by asking the company to stand behind a product that was only a few months old. I was instructed to cut the power cord and send photographic proof along with the serial number before a replacement would be provided. There is an obvious problem with that demand: this is a rechargeable unit with a removable power cord. Cutting the cord does not disable the unit. I explained this and offered to return the complete defective product instead. What bothered me even more than the procedure was the tone of the correspondence. I found it downright disgusting. Rather than feeling like a customer seeking warranty service on a nearly new product, I came away feeling as though I were under suspicion and needed to prove I wasn't trying to scam them. I'm not interested in being treated that way. So I'm done pursuing the warranty claim. I would literally rather spend my own money on an entirely new unit and start over than continue dealing with this process. That's especially frustrating because I really did love this product. My original review wasn't exaggerated. When this unit worked, it was fantastic. It cut my grooming time dramatically, the curved head worked beautifully, it was quiet and comfortable, and it gave me exactly the close buzz I wanted. That's what makes this so disappointing. A warranty should give a customer confidence that a company will stand behind its product when something goes wrong. It should not leave a customer who bought the product in good faith feeling like a suspected criminal for asking the company to honor it. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I’ve owned high-quality Norelco trimmers before, but they always took too long for what I wanted: a super-close buzz without turning grooming into a full-time job. I almost passed on this because of some negative reviews, but since it was a known brand, I figured I’d try it myself. Glad I did. This thing cut my shave time by probably 75%. At first, the wide curved “moon-shaped” head felt unusual compared to traditional clippers, but after a couple uses, I realized the design is actually the magic. It contours naturally to the shape of your head and covers a LOT more surface area per pass. Once I trusted the process and stopped using it like a standard trimmer, it became incredibly efficient. A few other things I really liked: • Much quieter than most clippers • Gives a very close buzz without needing a razor shave • Lightweight and comfortable to hold • Battery life seemed solid • Makes maintenance feel easy instead of annoying If you like a clean ultra-short buzz but don’t enjoy fully shaving your head, the product itself performs exceptionally well. Unfortunately, after experiencing an early failure and the warranty process that followed, I can no longer recommend it with the confidence I originally did. ... show more

  • BEST DIY CLIPPERS EVER!
Excellent clippers! I've used the same clippers weekly for almost 5 years with no issues with the exception of having to replace one each of the 1.5mm guards and 2mm guards; user error on BOTH accounts. I dropped the clippers on our hard tile bathroom floor and cracked the two guards, BUT NOT THE CLIPPERS ITSELF! I am also still using the original sheers with only a little bit of oil (maybe 1 drop) every couple of months. After 5 years the battery may not be holding its original charge, but it no hassle to get it plugged in when needed...runs fine. I HIGHLY recommend these clippers for the DIY barber. ... show more

  • Great! But maybe not for everyone?
Update: 10/30/17 - Over the last week the unit has started to turn itself off mid-clipping. Typically once it feels the least bit of resistance. I don't have a lot of hair on my head in the first place, so when I say the "least bit" I really mean it. I sent an email to Remington last night. They asked me to provide them with a code behind the blade and now I have a replacement on the way! Hooray! So my 5-star rating remains intact. I still love this thing. Add now to that great customer service and I'm a happy bald guy! Update: 6/14/17 - I've had this for almost a year and a half now. Still love it. Still no issues with the battery. Still 5 Stars. Still annoyed there isn't a self-cleaner for it. HA! I bought one for my father during the holidays and he's happy so far. First I want to point out that the blade is 2.5 inches long compared to ordinary clippers which are traditionally 1.5 inches. I haven't seen that extra width pushed very much by Remington but it makes a big difference. I was pleasantly surprised when I received mine and actually saw the unit. I personally rate this 5 stars; but, I'm not sure it would be 5 stars for others. I've been shaving my head consistently since I was a teenager. Then in my late 20's it pretty much became a requirement as premature balding kicked in. None of us want the "old man horseshoe head" look. So I've been through about a dozen clippers over the last 25 years. Thus, I don't use any of the guides it came with. So I can't comment on their effectiveness. What I can point out are some of the positives: trimmed my hair faster than any other clipper ever, cordless, quiet (for a clipper), the wide blade (again), doesn't get hot, easy to hold and change grasps for different shaving directions, no razor burn, and the blades are curved. Don't overlook this idea of a curved blade. At first I blew it off but once experienced you realize it is way more comfortable and form fitting on your head and neck. Full disclosure, I had purchased the "Philips Norelco QC5580/40 Do-It-Yourself Hair Clipper Pro" a week prior to this unit through Amazon. I'm in the minority here (based on the reviews for the QC5580) but I was not happy with it at all. I followed the instructions as suggested for shaving my head. You should use the clipper portion first, then you switch to a shaving adapter which gets to the scalp. I have pretty thick hair (for what remains around the sides) so it required too many "passes" for my satisfaction. For those of you that shave your head to the scalp you will understand what I mean. It's tedious to go over the same portion over and over. I also had razor burn the next day. So I sent that one back. Amazon was kind enough to provide me with a full refund. Now for some "cons" (just to be fair): - Cleaning is a little awkward. Instructions say you need to wipe the blade with the included brush, then rinse the blade under water while the unit is running, then disconnect the blade from the unit and rinse both the blades and the unit individually, then dry everything, then put it all back together and use mineral oil on the blades, finally wipe off any excess mineral oil. Each time you use the unit! Ok, so it takes maybe 2+ minutes. But in an age when facial razors are self-cleaning, it just seems like this could have a cleaning unit as well. If one exists I'd love to know about it. - You will NOT get a smooth feel or look from this clipper. This to me is why some individuals will not give this 5 stars. And to an extent I toyed with giving it 4 stars because of it as well. But I've personally only found three ways to get a smooth-to-the-scalp shave. You either utilize a hand razor (very slow, requires shaving cream, and usually razor burn of some sort); purchase a Philips Norelco 1280X (yes, use an electric razor on your head); or my preferred method by a long shot invest in a Braun 790cc. Nothing beats the Braun 790cc for speed and performance. Plus, it obviously shaves your face and is self-cleaning. In a perfect world I can use my Braun every other day and maintain a skin tight look. Some of you might say "so why the Hell did you buy this thing"? But the reality is, life keeps you busy if you have kids and sometimes you get lazy and the old-man hair creeps in over a few days. In those situations, the Braun has a rough time cutting the "longer" hair. It is meant for your face after all. That's where this baby comes into play. The HC4250 trims it down just enough to get you by for the day, and more importantly sets you up to start using the Braun again. To be honest, I'm also putting this review out here for selfish reasons. I don't want it to get discontinued! I finally have something that can clean me up quickly. If this unit ever dies I really don't want to go back to a Wahl, Conair, or Oster! It's not perfect, but it gets the job done for my needs. ... show more

  • Pricey, but worth it!
I really love this product! I wish I had purchased it sooner! It is a little pricey, but it's worth it! The blade itself is wider than most regular clipper blades. Because of its curved style, it really gives a great haircut for me in less time. I always had to go over and over areas with regular clippers; with this one, it takes care of areas on the first pass most of the time! ... show more
