  • For military guys, this should be standard issue.
This is an astoundingly good product and one I would whole-heartedly recommend to any other military members who maintain a "high and tight" haircut - but the purchase needs to be accompanied by three other purchases to round out your order and make this Remington what you really need it to be: A time-saver that keeps you looking sharp and saves you a profound amount of money over the course of a calendar year. Purchase #1: Buy a small mirror that has regular reflection on one side and 3x reflection on the other. For military members who will be doing some travelling over the course of your year I advise getting one with a handle that folds for ease of transportation. The mirror is a crucial element to ensuring a solid haircut, allowing you to use it in concert with your bathroom mirror to see all angles. Purchase #2: Some hair gel. Getting your system and dexterity down will take a few weeks/months. In that time you can easily blur mistakes and imperfections with a little stickum. Purchase #3: A haircut. Get your hair exactly how you want it - be critical and exacting, even if you normally aren't too picky in a barber's chair. This will be your last time visiting the barber so get it right. Once you have your hair to its perfectly desired length, your job will be to maintain it right there. It's far easier than you might think (at least for those of us with high and tights and other military cuts). I spend about 30-55 seconds every morning maintaining my haircut. The hair I cut is so miniscule it doesn't require any special hair-catching contraptions. I just wear the t-shirt I wore to bed and once finished I take it off, throw it in the hamper and hop in the shower. The time it takes me every morning is constantly improving. (I would suspect your first few attempts will take significantly longer) It varies however on my level of grogginess or if I feel like I need to trim some places in greater detail. But any way you hack it, it is a breeze. One of the most charming design features of this device is its ergonomics...it is truly easy to handle and you will have a great sense of control from the very first time you use it. I would STRONGLY recommend only ever cutting with your dominant hand however, to ensure an even cut and predictable results. You might feel like it makes sense to switch hands when doing opposite sides of your head but once you get some muscle memory down and have learned how to utilize your mirror, having one hand married to the razor and the other to the mirror will result in faster and more even results. I have been concerned with how my razor will hold up with daily use. It has shown no signs of unusual wear, however. A creature of habit, I make my friday haircut the day I lube it. Two simple drops on each end and I run it for 15 seconds. I remain curious to see how it ages...I am not subjecting it to long periods of cutting, or asking it to chop down huge trees of hair. I've assigned it light duty but it never gets a rest. Will update this review in time, but i feel like even if it only lasts me a year or two it's saved me a ton of money and given me the fresh haircut look every day. (With tip, I was spending about $480 a year on haircuts). I cannot possibly recommend this product enough. It is a truly well-designed and executed razor, made of solid elements designed to last. Buy, apply my tips (add your own) and make it part of your daily routine. You will not be sorry. ... show more

  • Game Changer!
Nice! Makes quick work of cutting your hair. Very pleased so far with the efficiency and ease of using these clippers. Time will tell how well they hold up but for now I am very happy with this purchase.

  • Great little machine
Great little gadget. Love the curved design perfect for the curves in the body. Does and excellent job. The attachments work well. I use this to trim my hair, beard, and neck on a regular basis.

  • Overall, I like this clipper
Pros: Easy to hold and use. I was shocked by how well this clipper fills in my hands. Not once was I concerned about dropping it while I cut my hair. I've used several different styles of clippers over the years, and I would find myself at some point worrying about the clippers slipping out of my hand but not with this clipper. The other pro is the blade size. This clipper has a very wide blade that's curved, helping me maintain an even cut over my head. I spend less time cleaning up high spots. Cons: Battery life is short. I can get through 2 haircuts (I cut my hair every other week) and then I would have to recharge. It's not a big deal but something to think about. The other con is the slow speed of the clippers when full charged. I've used cheap clippers that had a narrow blade, but the blades moved at high speed, allowing me to move the clippers very fast over my head. This clipper has a much slower blade speed, requiring me to move the clippers slower over my head, taking longer to cut my hair. If I get into a hurry, then the clippers will pull my hair. Overall, I like the quality of my haircut and the comfort of the grip. I’m sure I’ll like it more the longer I use it. ... show more

  • I bought this twice, in 2017 and 2021. It got way worse.
I originally had this in 2017 and I did not write a review for that, but it would have been 4.5/5. Now, the newer version I bought in 2021 is hardly a 2/5 and there's a few reasons for that. Downgraded Motor - 1/5 The "motor" or whatever you want to call that drives this thing is awful now. My old model would sometimes almost run out of battery and it would snag my hair. I have about 2/5th of an inch hair, not that much. This new model, fully charged, struggles and snags my hair. It feels "smoother" and it's less loud but again, it's as if it's almost out of power. They did some serious downgrade here. Whereas it used to be able to cut as well as a $20 "larger" Wahl or other brand clippers, it's now way way way worse. They should NOT be allowed to sell this as the same model. Battery - 0/5 It seems like the battery has been downgraded as well because if there's a less powerful motor it should definitely have a much longer runtime but it's now advertised as "40 minutes" and I assume that the advertised time will be much lower, but we'll see. I also remember using it more than 40 minutes total in the past before it ran out on the older version. I also don't look forward to it getting even weaker when it's only half charged like it did in the past, we'll see. Update -- I changed this from a 1/5 to a 0/5 because the battery lasted maybe 2 minutes before the clippers started randomly shutting itself on and off every few seconds for a split second and it got even slower/almost unusable. Horrible. Build Quality - 1/5 The build quality on the older one seemed solid. The new one seems to have build or QC issues because even when I press the power button, I can feel it "click" weird, like it's getting stuck somewhere. It went from feeling like a premium product to maybe a little bit worse. It's still nicer than some other clippers I have and feels like it has some good weight to it. Update -- I changed this from a 3/5 to a 1/5 because its glitching out due to the battery issue above, I assume it may also have to do with the build quality and power button feeling weird as it happens more when it's moved around, this might potentially have QC issue. Value - 2/5 The pricing on this used to be the same, even in 2017. I assume there's a lot of inflation and why they decided to downgrade everything but I would have rather paid $80 instead of $50 for the same old version. While there would have been some value in it being $80 and similar to how it was in the past, the new model is absolutely not worth it. I'd rather get get the $20 Wahl clippers that are still somehow $20 in 2021 as well, maybe they downgraded that too though I wouldn't know. Downgraded accessories - 2/5 They used to include a nice travel case that was custom for this product, now you get a big nylon bag. The attachments are probably the same as they were before, I don't use them much. They don't seem more brittle or anything like that. They may have also decreased the size of the included lube, I don't remember it being that small but I'm not certain. Same with the cleaning brush, not sure. The charging cord seems different too, maybe a little bit thinner but not in a good way. I do still have the original somewhere so if I find it I'll add more details. ... show more
