  • The Ultimate Digital Notebook for Focused Users, but Not for Everyone
The reMarkable 2 has been a game-changer for me, especially since I wasn’t familiar with paper tablets until recently. My journey started with the Kindle Scribe, which I initially bought for reading on a larger screen. Once I discovered the joy of note-taking on an E-Ink tablet, I delved deeper into the market and stumbled across the reMarkable 2, which is often hailed as one of the best in its category. That’s when I decided to give it a try, seeking a more refined, “paper-like” experience compared to the Kindle Scribe. Now, I’m absolutely hooked on the reMarkable 2, carrying it with me everywhere. The device fits seamlessly into my daily routine, but whenever colleagues ask about it, I give them this disclaimer: “I love it, but I’d never recommend it lightly.” The key here is that anyone interested in the reMarkable 2 must first do their homework. It’s essential to understand its specific use case and the design philosophy behind it. Unlike many gadgets that try to do everything fairly well, the reMarkable 2 is a specialized tool that excels at one thing—replicating the paper notebook experience digitally. For that, it’s nearly unparalleled. However, this specialization comes with trade-offs. The reMarkable 2 is highly focused and minimalist. It lacks many features that modern tablet users might take for granted: there’s no email access, no web browser, no third-party apps, and you won’t find social media or even a backlight for nighttime use. For some, this can feel like a “dumbed-down” tablet, especially given that at its price point, you could opt for an iPad or other E Ink tablets with more functionality. If you’re looking for a multi-purpose device, this might seem limiting and even frustrating. That said, the writing experience on the reMarkable 2 is where it shines. The textured E-Ink display combined with the Marker offers a tactile feel that closely mimics writing on paper. With pressure sensitivity and multiple pen options, it’s incredibly responsive, making it perfect for note-taking, sketching, and journaling. However, it may fall short for artists looking for a more versatile tool since the drawing features are limited compared to more advanced tablets. Where the reMarkable 2 does offer some digital conveniences is in its cloud syncing capabilities. With their Connect service (which costs $3/month after a free trial), you can sync your notes across devices, giving you access to your notebooks on your phone or computer. For me, this feature justifies the subscription cost because it adds an extra layer of productivity, allowing me to keep my notes organized and accessible anytime, anywhere. Ultimately, the reMarkable 2 is ideal for people who are looking for a distraction-free, premium notebook replacement that delivers on its promise of a paper-like experience. It’s elegant, well-built, and high quality, but it’s also designed for a very specific use case. If you’re someone who wants more functionality or expects a typical tablet experience, there are better alternatives in both the tablet and E-Ink markets. But if you value simplicity, focus, and a top-tier writing experience, the reMarkable 2 is the way to go. I personally use it daily and even bought one for my wife. But I also recognize that for some, it may not hit the mark. As I always say, do your research before committing to it. ... show more

  • Paper saver
New college student here and I wanted to reduce the amount of paper I was about to use, and this has been absolutely amazing. I will say I should have gone with the colored version (would have made my highlighted materials much easier to see), with the writing pen that comes with this notebook bundle I recommend getting extra tips for it if you write a lot because the tips get worn down and dull (one has lasted me about 3 to 4 months at a time and that's stretching it through a dull worn down tip and only changing it once it stops registering on the tablet- I do not recommend waiting that long lol -) All in all, this tablet has been amazing, well worth the money I put into it. ... show more

  • better then a tablet
Size: reMarkable 2 Bundle with Folio
This is way better than a tablet for taking notes and doesn't hurt your eyes. Great for anyone that prefers hand written notes.

  • 5-months in...I love this thing
I wanted to work with this before writing a review. I've been using it for 5 months now and can say, unequivocally, that this is a great product. Writing experience As a pen aficionado, I've been surprised at how much I enjoy writing with this. I have the pen that erases. I'm on my second pen tip and use it almost daily, so it has pretty good 'tip life'. The writing experience is really nice. Took no adjustment on my part. The Platform It's easy to navigate. Easy to categorize and name documents and organize folders. I don't use the handwriting to text feature bc my writing doesn't translate well, so I can't comment on that. However, where before I was carrying around multiple notebooks for different areas of my life, now I have just one. One! And it contains my work notes, my construction notes, my volunteer work notes, PDFs that I've downloaded. Drawings I've made. It's so efficient. And I've never run out of battery life. Summary I was concerned that I wouldn't take to this given my pen/paper fondness, but the Remarkable has truly delivered. This is not cheap, but well worth the investment thus far. I recommend it. ... show more

  • Extremely limited in text conversation, sluggish, and can't see
The media could not be loaded. Update after 60 days (about daily use) I am on the 7th "tip" (ran out of tips to replace). Pencil starts to act like a ghost (see video). It writes without even touching the pad. Sounds magical - except that it makes writing hell. Because everything you write is just one continuous line, unless you completely lift your hands away from the ped. Everything turns into the gibberish. The tech support online documentation? - reset the pad and replace the tip, again!! So I am on my second pen, and I am on the 8th tip. All in just 60 days. Less than 30 days of light use, the eraser broke off. How? No idea. Hardly use the eraser. The screen is extremely dim - only usable in perfect lighting conditions. But the worst part - the thing I need it to do the most (vs. an actual paper notebook) is to be able to convert to text and then upload/download with a computer or a cloud (google drive). It's labor-intensive and clumsy. But once you made something into a pdf (when you upload, that's what happens), then future edits to the pdf can no longer be converted to text?! So the notebook is essentially un-updateable. How this device has had raving reviews on amazon and on youtube is incomprehensible to me. Notability on Ipad is so much better - minus the "feel" of book. ... show more
