Easy installation, but thermostat heated the water once. Afterwards it turns off and doesn’t come back on again. It would turn on if I adjusted for a higher temperature, but why waste electricity. Bought a different brand.

My hot water heater was overheating regardless of setting, and I was afraid I might have to replace the whole heater. Turned out I just had to replace the thermostat with this inexpensive replacement. It was a simple matter of screwing the 3 wires into the same place on the replacement. NOTE: TURN OFF THE POWER TO THE HOT WATER HEATER BEFORE REPLACING...unless you want to be electrocuted. Use a multimeter to ensure there's no power running before you start. Now my hot water heater is running just fine, and I'm glad it didn't cost much to fix. Before you order, make sure the unit number matches what's required in your heater's manual. ... show more

    • Replacement thermostat on Sears water heater works fine.
As described. Identical (same mfg and part number) to the original Sears thermostat. Included the clear plastic safety cover. The temperature control knob is shorter than original, and requires small screw driver to adjust. Could not use a push-in wire connect as the square washers were omitted. Just curved the wire around the screws to connect. Has been working OK. ... show more

This one regulates perfectly, easy to install and water temp is close to marked scale. The identical one that came on the new Reliance tank was flawed, at full temp the water was just 95 and replacement under warranty was a was a brick wall.
