All parts snapped together, no tools needed! The rails were connected by a strap that runs between the mattress and boxspring so they are sturdy. We had an easier time snapping everything together first then just sliding the straps underneath. Yes mine came use, but i think someone purchased is could not figure out how to put it together and right before their return time ended they sent it back..lol after cleaning it it was easy to assemble. I will recommen using this on a toddler bed that has a box spring not an platform bed

It wasn’t too hard to put together but the instructions could be a little better. I could see how someone could have a hard time putting it together. I think I’m pretty handy with putting stuff together and I had somewhat of a hard time figuring out which side was which for the bottom pieces, I think the letter labels had fallen off (they were supposed to be labeled a,b,c). I had put one side on wrong and had to take it off and then the little pin that pops out to hold the bars in place went inside, luckily I was able to mess with it for about 10 minutes and get it to pop back out in the hole. I think the bed rail is decent, they don’t seem to be made out of the same material they used to be, I have an older one and the material is thicker. I like how it has the straps going underneath the bed and you can tighten them. It fits my sons twin bed very well and it keeps him from falling out of bed. In general, I really like it and it is a good product. I would recommend it to someone needing a double bed rail for their little ones. ... show more

Definitely was sent a used item that was easy to tell it had been used. It looked almost dirty on some parts. The packaging looked liked it had been thrown around. The directions were HORRIBLE. And it seemed to be missing a part because I couldn’t even completely put it together. Never used it.
