Worked great in the hotel!

I wanted to take my 3 year old to the hotel, so I needed a bedrail that can be packed there, and this one looked very promising. However, when I received it, one of the metal rods were dented at the end in a such a way that it is not possible to insert the other rod into it like the instruction says. I didn't want to wait for my husband to come home and fix it, so I took some scissors and a hammer, put the scissors into the dented in end and pounded the hammer on it to force it to open. I didn't expect it to work because the scissors are not going to open it evenly, but I was able to open it up enough so that the other rod would go in a little bit. Then I pounded one rod onto the other rod until bit by bit, it went in past the catch and locked in! Wow! I was SO PROUD of myself! Despite my problems, I still love this bedrail because it was so much easier to put on the bed than the one I used at the Disney hotel in my last vacation. This bedrail, you just lift up the mattress slightly, put in one end, then lift up the mattress again on the other side and put in the other end. It comes with fastener cords that I just left there. The fasteners are good for long term usage to prevent the bedrail from sliding out but for just a few nights, there's no need. In comparison, the Disney bedrail was so difficult to shove under the mattress because it was a different design that squeezes the mattress (can't be good for the mattress). It does have one benefit over this Regalo version, in that the bedrail is slanted outwards over the bed, so there's no chance of the kid shoving his hands down the crevice between the bedrail and the bed. I solved that problem by rolling up a towel and put it in the crevice so that it is covered. And the Regalo bedrail doesn't hurt the mattress at all. My toddler slept well with it. I highly recommend this Regalo bedrail for home or traveling. I ordered the wrong size by mistake. I meant to order a King size, but I ordered a Queen size instead. However, it fits my bed really well and works perfectly as a mattress protector for my baby. I’m very happy with the quality and how well it works. I’m giving it 5 stars because it’s been great!

They work like they’re supposed to, but it was pretty difficult to put together and get onto the bed. The poles you have to click together, weren’t fully hollowed out so you really had to smash them together to fit properly and little flecks of metal got everywhere. Great Product at a Great Price!

Previously, we had a "Cars"-themed bedrail for our son. When our daughter went to a toddler bed, we used that bedrail for a bit. But she is quite girlie and it didn't seem right to keep using the Cars bedrail for the sake of convenience and frugality. LOL! When we transitioned her to her "big girl" bed, I got the Regalo bedrail. Now, I usually leave assembly to my husband, but this was so easy and quick to assemble that I did it while he had a cat nap. I also found it easy to get it onto her bed by myself. I think it may be tricky for some who are unfamiliar with the straps of a bedrail and how to position them to set this up on a bed solo. I'm just familiar because our son's Car bedrail was not the swing-down type (Or maybe it was and I never got the memo? LOL!), so we often took it off and put it on. FYI, I am not a big gal--only 5'3"--but even with my [lack of] height and arm span I can maneuver a bedrail under a mattress and strap it down. I've learned to wedge myself into strategic positions to handle this task. (My daughter's bed has a comforter and dust ruffle, and I am OCD about beds being presentable, and still I can maneuver this thing into position.) Back to the Regalo bedrail. I love the swing-down feature. Not only does it make changing bed linens more convenient (than bedrails you need to remove first), but it is also nice to have the rail down so the bed looks neater when not in use for sleeping. The bedrail is also holding up to the constant rolling and bashing of my daughter, who is not a gentle, motionless sleeper. She has also rammed herself into it, climbed on/over it, and kicked it when awake and it stays in place. (And she is big for her toddler age, so she can pack a wallop.) Initially, we had only the bedrail along the open side of her bed, with an extra standard-sized pillow blocking the small gap near her head/headboard. Eventually, though, I positioned a long body pillow from her headboard and long the bedrail to cushion her, as she is old enough that we don't have a fear of SIDS or suffocation from pillows placed such. There is enough of a gap at the foot of the bed for her to access her little step stool to get down, even when the bedrail is up. I am very happy with this purchase. I feel like I got a great deal for a product that has held up nicely with our "active sleeper" (we've had it for a month, as of this post). Good product once I finish it and beat deal on the two pack so I have to give it five stars but I can not express enough how unclear and difficult the directions were like I have done it every way except the correct way it was designed mostly due to the video not being directly on the product page and had to dig bc everyone else who posted did it wrong too and it would have theoretically worked but I want it put together how it's intended by the poles either seemed a slight too tight or off or the mesh was too tight or off and I was right once I found the actual tutorial but even then you need to do a close up OF BOTH SIDES LIKE OMMFFF. the letters are all one letter off in the alphabet like bro. But it's not a big complaint bc my brain is now tired enough to shut off but literally I can not. But again- best deal on the two pack so I'll take the difficult process for perfection ... show more

We have been using this guard bed rail for about 5 years now. We purchased this after my now 5 year old son had rolled off our bed that was pretty high 2 times too many and got a big old goose egg (knot/bruise) on his head from rolling off the bed. Hey- it happens and we live and we learn. After the second time we said no more and purchased the bed rail and have kept it ever since. You need to make sure there is no gap in between your bed and the rail when installing- so a child does not get stuck in between the guard rail and the bed. The positive: The assembly is pretty easy and we have one for our king bed that is 54" long and a short one for my toddler's bed so she doesn't fall off the ground when sleeping. The one on our bed is for when one of our four children ranging from 7 months to 9 years old have came and slept in our bed when they are sick and want to sleep with us, or for when I breastfed all my babies and would fall asleep feeding them in the middle of the night. It keeps them safe from rolling off the bed. From baby to a young child, they will roll up against it when sleeping and be just fine. The negative: The reason it gets 3 stars instead of 5 is because washing and putting back on the cover is super complicated and stressful after washing it. I have gone through about 5 of these and the reason is because the sheet needs to be replaced for the product to be completely effective (the net gets worn down, stained, and rips causing holes). We have had to purchase this product so many times to replace it. You can't purchase just the cover/net by itself! If we could do that, it would be so much easier and a lot less waste and expensive! Instead, I have to buy the same product completely with all the parts in order to replace the net/cover. This has been a life saver, I still love having it next to me and so does my cat, I'm going to keep it on my bed even when I don't have children or babies in our bed for nap/bed time because it makes me feel safe! ... show more

I actually purchased this because I have an 18 year old 7 lb dog that sleeps on the bed with me. He is very unstable and I was worried he would fall off the bed.
