Our old refrigerator died after a really bad thunder storm that had lots of lightning and power outages. The resulting power returns cause voltage spikes that ended up frying at least two of the control (mother) boards in the fridge. To get it repaired would have cost one half the cost of a new fridge. The repairman said we would be better off getting a new one. Well we did. Rather than fight that battle again, I decided to look into getting a surge protector for the new fridge. And I glad I did!
