Allows my wife to read after I have gone to sleep, and I can turn off with a remote if needed, plus she can touch the light off at the lamp. Very easy to switch between different reading modes. We were looking for reading lights, to be positioned at the side of our bed. One of the issues we had was the small lights on our headboard would cast shadows on our reading material. These lights allowed us to position them, in such a way, as to eliminate those shadows. In addition, these lights provide a full range of warmth. We find the warmer light facilitates easier reading. My only criticism: it was a bit too tall for my reading chair, but I removed one section of threaded pole to shorten it. This did require splicing wires. I use this light to read music while at the piano. Its variable light temperatures and brightness controls make this comfortable and effortless in various lighting conditions throughout the day in a music room that has tall glass windows on two sides. Really nice light. Adjustable beam size and color temperature. My wife has dry type Macular Degeneration and this light really does make a difference or her ability to read. Easily fits behind the couch to shine over her left shoulder just as she wanted.
