I've had this a little over 2 months now. I love this little freezer! The price I paid was about the same as one half this size, and I needed one no smaller than this is. It's been great! There are 3 people in my household, and I have dietary restrictions, so I will buy items I can have and then items they (or anyone, really) can have. Of the other two, one can't get enough fudge pops/frozen fruit bars, and both of them eats a lot of ice cream and frozen pizzas/pizza rolls. This freezer holds it all though! I keep it on a porch that has windows all around, but not climate controlled. I'm in lower coastal SC, and keeping freezers in areas such as this is common without issue. My grandmother had 2 upright freezers for probably 20+ yrs in her laundry room which wasn't climate controlled with no problems. ... show more

I've had this for about a month and it is awesome! So glad I bought the 7.0 cubic foot - I don't need that much room but it's nice to have it if I get a good deal at the store. I absolutely love this freezer!

I got the 5.1 cubic foot freezer and it is the perfect amount of room for me. This would, without a doubt, be a 5 star product if it weren't for a couple things. One, it arrived with dents and also with what looks like orange/yellow glue or some substance all down the front. It is very dry and hard. It goes from the lid to the bottom, right down the center of the front of the freezer. It does not come off. I have tried almost everything. If anyone has any suggestions I would really love to hear them. It makes it look like I don't keep my appliances clean. Some areas look like it might be scratches/scrapes, others you can feel it is raised so it's definitely something on it. I did not return this to get a new one on purpose. It works very well even with the dents and the weird substance on it, and I have a feeling I probably would have received one in much worse condition if I got a new one. I sucked it up and just kept it. Second, freezers should be kept at 0ºF or even colder. The recommended setting for this freezer is to have it on 4. When I have this on 4 it does not get down to 0ºF. It is around 20ºF I have to have this set at 6 at all times and that is exactly 0ºF. I feel like I am using more energy than I should. If you don't have a thermometer for this, I definitely recommend setting this at 6 so you know your food is getting cold enough. The freezer is pretty spacious. I bought stack-able baskets that fit against the left side and back in the bottom to organize meat I vacuum seal. I also bought a second freezer basket here on Amazon that fits perfectly on the top next to the one that came with this. It runs fairly quite. I don't hear it at all unless I am right up near it while it is running. This freezer is really nice and holds a lot, but something needs to be done about quality checks and shipping. ... show more

I purchased the 5.1 Cubic Foot Chest Freezer for a great price. I was so excited to get it today! We've been playing Tetris in our regular freezer for a long time. I was worried about buying a stand alone freezer because of space and energy consumption. First, the freezer arrived in perfect condition (as far as I know so far). I was really worried because of some of the reviews. The packaging isn't ultra protective, so I will say that how it arrives probably has a lot to do on how poorly it is treated by the shipping carrier. Mine arrived fine through UPS. It looks like the size is going to be about perfect for my husband and I. It will allow us to really stock up on frozen goods without it taking up too much room itself. The most standardized thing I can compare it to is that it is about the size of a dishwasher, but about five inches longer in the front. We have room for it in our kitchen/dining room area. It is of moderate size, but by no means as big as most standard chest freezers. If you have a really small space this might be a bit too big. The lid to the freezer is light and it opens up very smoothly. Even someone with limited strength should have no issue lifting the lid. The freezer itself is not super heavy. I was able to set it up myself by carefully sliding the box into position. The box itself slides up and off the freezer. You can "walk" the freezer carefully off the Styrofoam base. The manual indicated to NEVER TILT IT OVER 45 DEGREES so be careful when moving it. It also indicates that if it is tilted at all it should rest for 24 hours before plugging it in. It surely was tilted at some point in delivery so I am leaving it unplugged today. I was very pleased to see the energy guide on the front of the freezer (picture attached to review) that indicated that estimated yearly energy cost was $21.00. I'll save more than that on really good deals on frozen goods and meats throughout the year. Now I don't have to pass up sales because of limited freezer room. The only big downside I see to the chest freezer is that it has to be manually defrosted. I hope that I won't have to do that often. ... show more

    • Delivery Company delivers damage

The freezer was a great buy ans very pleased with it. The only exception was the delivery company that was used damaged thre item. Fortunately the damage was limited to cargo straps much to tightly fastened and obviously dented the top of freezer, but it was still usable. Amazon to our satisfaction made an offer for us to be able to keep it at a discounted price. I cant not stress enough that if you make the purchase do not sign to accept until you open the box completely and inspect before delivery service leaves if damage is not acceptable to you or rendered unusable tell them to take it back refuse delivery. Amazon is understanding and will do everything they can to make it work if it is useable for you. ... show more
