  • Perfect little freezer!
Size: 5.1 Cubic Foot Chest Freezer
Love my little Igloo! We are a family of 3 so it is the perfect size for shopping at Costco once a month rather than every week! Be gentle placing items in as it is very soft sided and dents easily! The only thing I wish it was is frost free but what do you want for a freezer under $200 bucks! Would definitely recommend to friends and family. ... show more

  • Save Your Money: Breaks In Less Than a Year
Size: 5.1 Cubic Foot Chest Freezer
Update: The company has just emailed me and advise me that I would have to ship the unit back to them to receive the warranty service, which is easily the cost of the unit. Essentially, there is no real warranty with this item. A terrible investment. I bought this freezer last December. I had no complaints with it until it stopped working, defrosting all of the food inside. After rescuing as much as I could I set out trying to get someone to repair the unit, as it comes with a one year warranty. The first thing I discovered was the warranty information here on Amazon is not correct. This item is not warrantied by GE, but rather by a third party corporation known as Curtis International which warranties all of Igloo's products. Curtis International's website:[...] States that they have 24/7 product support. This isn't true because the first six times I called the phone tree dumped me into a queue and then I was disconnected with a message to call later at a time convenient to me. Um, I'm calling now because THIS is a time convenient to me. When I finally got through the person on the other end was difficult to understand, and after much repeating he asked me questions like "Is the lid closed securely" and then told me to reset the system "By turning it to lo and then high 6-7 seven times" I followed all of his supposed reset instructions (which, by the way, aren't in my user manual and felt like a delaying tactic) and surprise! I still have a puddle of water in the bottom of my freezer that doesn't work. So now I have to try to figure out the sweet spot in Curtis' supposed 24/7 support time when they really do answer the phone to see if they'll actually fix my freezer. All in all, I've spent nearly a week trying to even get a response and my frustration level is pretty high. $260 for a freezer that only works for nine months is a terrible investment, if you ask me. Save your money and buy a different model. ... show more

  • Good freezer
Size: 5.1 Cubic Foot Chest Freezer
I am so glad I bought this. After years of cramming frozen stuff into my freezer and passing good sales due to lack of room, I am now content. This is a perfect size for a small family (there are just two of us). It uses little energy and freezes extremely well, keeps to temperature and absolutely maintains <32 degrees. the footprint is about the same as a washer or dryer, so it fits in a small space easily. Ours is in the basement. It arrived quickly in perfect condition. Have had it several months and no issues, no problems. I will say I noticed yesterday that frost is building up slightly on one wall, but I suspect that's normal. I strongly recommend this, especially at the price. It might qualify for your electric company's energy rebate, but I have't checked that out. ... show more

  • Glad I Finally Got a Chest Freezer Glad I Finally Got a Chest Freezer
Size: 5.1 Cubic Foot Chest Freezer
I purchased the 5.1 Cubic Foot Chest Freezer for a great price. I was so excited to get it today! We've been playing Tetris in our regular freezer for a long time. I was worried about buying a stand alone freezer because of space and energy consumption. First, the freezer arrived in perfect condition (as far as I know so far). I was really worried because of some of the reviews. The packaging isn't ultra protective, so I will say that how it arrives probably has a lot to do on how poorly it is treated by the shipping carrier. Mine arrived fine through UPS. It looks like the size is going to be about perfect for my husband and I. It will allow us to really stock up on frozen goods without it taking up too much room itself. The most standardized thing I can compare it to is that it is about the size of a dishwasher, but about five inches longer in the front. We have room for it in our kitchen/dining room area. It is of moderate size, but by no means as big as most standard chest freezers. If you have a really small space this might be a bit too big. The lid to the freezer is light and it opens up very smoothly. Even someone with limited strength should have no issue lifting the lid. The freezer itself is not super heavy. I was able to set it up myself by carefully sliding the box into position. The box itself slides up and off the freezer. You can "walk" the freezer carefully off the Styrofoam base. The manual indicated to NEVER TILT IT OVER 45 DEGREES so be careful when moving it. It also indicates that if it is tilted at all it should rest for 24 hours before plugging it in. It surely was tilted at some point in delivery so I am leaving it unplugged today. I was very pleased to see the energy guide on the front of the freezer (picture attached to review) that indicated that estimated yearly energy cost was $21.00. I'll save more than that on really good deals on frozen goods and meats throughout the year. Now I don't have to pass up sales because of limited freezer room. The only big downside I see to the chest freezer is that it has to be manually defrosted. I hope that I won't have to do that often. ... show more

The freezer is perfect, arrived in brand new condition. Fits great in the kitchen ******updated******* I just discovered that when it arrived, the top is bend a little bit, does have a gap in it. • Just what I was looking for!
Size: 5.1 Cubic Foot Chest Freezer
As many other reviewers stated, my freezer did come dented. However, it was a pretty small dent on the bottom front right corner. If not for that I would give it 5 stars. It was very easy to open and get running. It is the perfect size for my family of four. I live in an apartment and as we know those refrigerators have the TINIEST freezers. It runs very quietly. The price is amazing, I almost bought a used one at the price I was able to get this one new. Glad I thought to check Amazon! ... show more

  • Don't Buy. If you have, fix it with a $10 part Don't Buy. If you have, fix it with a $10 part
Size: 5.1 Cubic Foot Chest Freezer
Are you considering ordering this freezer? If so, don't. It is a poorly made piece of trash. If you are one of the poor saps like me that ordered this when it had good reviews then read this before throwing out your dead freezer. My freezer stopped working about a year after buying it so it was outside of warranty coverage. Like a lot of people here, the unit started clicking and stopped cooling. After investigating, I found the problem and fixed the freezer with a 10 dollar part that is available here on amazon. The problem was with the start relay that sits right on the inside of the compressor terminal housing. Super easy to get to. Take off the side panel and pop off the black plastic panel covering the wires going into the compressor. The relay is a little black part that has three wires going into it. Two from the capacitor and one from common power. The part is called QP2-4.7 Start Relay. I got mine on amazon for about $10. The easiest way to tell if the start relay is bad is to shake it once you get it off. Does it sound like there is loose plastic inside? Then it is bad. I also replaced the capacitor with a 450v rated unit while I was in here but this was not REALLY necessary and I just wanted to insure the unit would get good starting voltage from a good capacitor. Hopefully this and some pictures will help people get the time they should have gotten from the manufacture out of the unit. ... show more

  • Right Price. Right Size. Right Company to trust AMAZON :)
Size: 5.1 Cubic Foot Chest Freezer
Great price. Perfect size. Plugged it in waited a day and it works perfect. Arrived on time, and the delivery man actually brought it in the house for me. This was important because I ordered a bed once (from somewhere else, before Amazon came into my life) and they left it on the sidewalk. I asked the man to help me carry it up the stairs to my porch and he shook his head no, got in his truck and drove away. (Almost 200# and I could not do it by myself) I had one tiny little dip in the bottom on the side. Not deep enough to call it a dent. I was concerned because several reviews stated they had big dents in theirs. Must be warehouse or shipping problems with different locations. ... show more
